All that’s really left is Campaign if single missions aren’t them Add engine and emergency controls, ARU switch, range wheel, etc Add “advanced” IFF Finish implementing coop mode continue to refine radar Finally add Lazur GCI datalink

You can still go 200 km on 550 kg if careful and follow the most efficient speeds I outline in my video. It is roughly 12-15% fuel remaining after all

MIG-29A BVR - how to force enemy aircraft down low?
AeriaGloria replied to The Gryphon's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
You would have to use EWR to notch since SPO won’t help -
Yes I got tone. No radar does not need to be in Illum or dummy. No special settings. Just enter helmet mode, look at someone at 30-45 degrees beyond IRST can lock, and R-73 will lock with dashed cross

Yet it doesn’t have the same reaction to multiple targets, chaff, and some of the other RF additions to the new R-27R/ER Yes ED said it was on newest API last year. But now with R-27 they have further added more features and made it more realistic then any other Fox 1, and Sparrow should catch up. ”New semiactive RF seeker provides 'multitarget' tracking feature. This means that RF signals from several distinct targets will interfere and form one bigger apparent target once they simultaneously fall into the missile tracking gate. This apparent target may lead the missile between real targets in a target group, or to dispensed chaff. It also may steal missile velocity tracking gate and break guidance”

No LA, Rmax, Rmin or R no escape in STT
AeriaGloria replied to IxIFelIxI's topic in Bugs and Problems
1. R-27R takes 4 seconds to prepare. Only locking someone beyond max range do they get ready early 2. radar if in close combat mode in helmet mode coop. That means 10 km range max -

Not unless you enable gun mode In radar mode Diamond is gimbal limits, circle is interception cue -
Mig-29 quirks, little things and nice details

What do you mean? With datalink there are three options. A circle that guides to intercept, a circle that guides straight to them, and a rear intercept. However the circle is on the HUD in a 45 degree scale (just like circle in navigation mode, the path wanted is 45 degrees off when circle at edge of hud), so even when your intercept is straight to them, circle won’t cover target unless perfectly centered -
Works for me. From 0-30 degrees off nose IRST locks. From 31-45 only R-27. You can tell because you get no dashed circle only dashed crosshair. But 46-60 degrees nothing will work on HMS unless ( right now), R-73 only works 45 degrees off boresight but helmet can do up to 60

It does not matter. If I place radar to dummy, and in IRST scan mode lock someone, I will get radar range in 3 seconds. If with radar in Illum and IRST scan mode lock someone outside laser range, then place radar into dummy, I will then get radar range within 3 seconds. You just can’t use radar in coop mode while it is in dummy, so you need to move it back to Illum while keeping coop switch forward for that. Eventually coop switch forward will force radar to MPRF and 25 km scale

You can read all about it in my post here If you only move coop switch you only get IRST picking up lost radar lock. If you move radar switch from ILLUM to dummy when using the IRST modes ( IRST search/IRST vertical scan/opt/helmet) you get all the other functions I talk about in the post. Let me know if you have questions

With FF MiG-29, by default, IRST search/bvr, IRST vertical scan, helmet modes, only use IRST. You cannot fire R-27R/ER by default and radar will be off The only way to use radar with IRST, switch sensors on locked target, fire fox 1 from helmet/irst vert scan/irst bvr scan , is to use coop mode. Coop mode will allow if one sensor loses lock to have the other sensor pick up the lost lock if it can. However, if you set radar mode to dummy you get additional functionality in coop mode using the IRST modes. For IRST vertical scan/opt/helmet, radar will lock STT as soon as IRST lock, allowing you to fire fox 1. For helmet both sensors will try to lock and first to lock becomes primary. Since IRST only looks 30 degrees to the side, that means you only have radar for helmet locking (other then R-73) from 30-60 degrees off the nose. Where it’s different with extra functionality is IRST BVR/scan mode. If there is no laser range the radar will provide ranging in scan mode. If you press lock a second time it will STT allowing you to fire fox 1. If laser range appears (3-6.5 km), the radar will also STT. So if trying to be stealthy, it is a big tool to use IRST scan (remember to turn down gain) and range with radar scan. If you have radar leading/primary mode for any reason, switching to an IRST mode will change to IRST leading if IRST can lock.

As ED has said, it is not up to the same standard as their newest R-27R/ER release in tens of seeker. But I don’t think it should be that hard since it already has all the advanced FM stuff done

Mig-29 quirks, little things and nice details
AeriaGloria replied to 150GCT_Diego's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
As for SPO-15, when the mission editor option “automatic” is chosen it will filter out friendly radars. I’ve had great luck with the IRST, I can pick out Mil power fighters up to 30 km. I have one tip I can mention, turn down the gain!!!! Turning down gain doesn’t affect the target marks. Only the interference. So if you turn it down enough, all interference goes away and you only see target dots. Then it’s just a matter of point the IRST scan mode in the right direction, not too hard since it’s a 60 x 30 degree scan zone. You move radar left and right with the left/right scan zone switch. It’ll be in controls if you look for it, top left panel by weapon mode selector. -
Bombing solution seems to use Barometric Altitude only
AeriaGloria replied to ldnz's topic in Bugs and Problems
As far as I know, per combat employment manual, all slant ranging is done by either laser or radar altimeter elevation method ( like Mi-24) -
Bombing solution seems to use Barometric Altitude only
AeriaGloria replied to ldnz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have a feeling this has to do with the target altitude in DTC. I couldn’t understand the way Wags explained it exactly what this was changing, and it seemed to be for every waypoint -
I just wish he would say what his sources are

Using the cannon with the central external fuel tank?
AeriaGloria replied to lj0076's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Then it’s probably unfinished. But eventually you won’t be able to use gun with the tank -
Radar losing lock way too easy in all modes.
AeriaGloria replied to LaCiKa's topic in Bugs and Problems
Were you at low altitude? MPRF suffers below 3k meters In addition coop is perfect for MPRF because IRST will likely have lock when it drops. Probably why when fully implemented coop mode will lock radar to MPRF -
-45 degrees and +70. There are some sources saying -37 and +56, but I believe this is only for search mode I appreciate you giving a track! 1. What do you mean HUDs work differently? 2. Because it’s incorrect and unfinished Nineline, Gman has given a track. References are combat employment manual which explains the degree size of the HUD scale and purpose of the rhombus/diamond, and this other 9.12/9.13 manual that explains the rhombus/diamond must be kept inside the square of the HUD to maintain lock, something it cannot do right now After launching a missile with a radar homing head to provide illumination of the target, do not allow the “diamond” (“dot”) to go beyond the conditions of the deviation limit of the “diamond” (“dot”) of the HUD screen until the target is hit or issued "Lapel" commands. When maneuvering a target (determined by the behavior of the target’s velocity vector on the HUD screen. It is not sufficient for this as is. Also as mentioned, combat employment manual specifies that when at top or bottom of HUD screen the radar diamond is showing +/-45 degrees angle to the target. It does not do this currently
-
So when you lock there is diamond showing deflection of radar antenna, the HUD scale for this element is +/-70 degrees horizontal tally and +/-45 degrees vertically. It works great horizontally, but vertically only reacts to the angle between your plane and the target in vertical space (not actual gimbal limit, your own nose angle has no effect). I am sure ED is aware of this?
-
No, just better regain lock before missile passes the target! The N-019 will only illuminate for the missile 60 seconds anyways
-
Tonight’s testing revealed a few things the radar diamond doesn’t not work for vertical gimbal limit AND We can break lock mid R-27R/ER flight then regain it!!!!!
-
I will countdown the days until western RWR is overhauled and AIM-7 to same standard
-
Just remember that only works in CCIP when pipper is moving up the HUD
