[CORRECT AS IS] F-16C Targeting pod issue (Open Beta)
fjacobsen replied to Killtac's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I´m nor sure what "Correct as is" means. I can use the TGP on both the F/A-18 and AV-8B without any problems, but the F-16 TGP does not work for me as anticipated. I cannot get the HUD target point to move with the TGP. I set the TGP as SOI Envoke Area-Track or Point-Track and can slew around, but the HUD target point remains fixed at the selected steerpoint. I can set the HUD as SOI and slew the HUD target point around, but the TGP does not look at that spot. If the TGP really works and is "Correct as is", then please someone make a video showing how to use it. -
Note that You need to be within ~8 nm for locking the IR Maverick.

Or maybe a combo of both pitch and throttle. Pitching up and down will also reduce vertical thrust. So for moving forward, pitch down and add a tad of throttle. Same with going backwards - pitch up and add a tad of throttle. When zeroing pitch, throttle down slightly. It's very much like flying a Helicopter.

Thanks for this really great tool. I have no problems doing the overhead, break, downwind and getting on-speed at the right altitude. It´s the last part flying base and into the groove where I start loosing points. So back to practicing.... EDIT.. Just got a 61 score - so improving (was slightly too far abeam and long in the Groove). It´s a real good tool to learn getting the numbers right.

Sorry I lied...(probably remembered my P3D settings ). MSAA is only at 2x, with SSAA at 1.5

DCS runs very well on my system now. Running a Super carrier mission with the deck full of aircraft, escort destroyers and Arleigh Burkes I see mostly 60 fps (fps are limited to 60 fps)only going down to around 45 when parked on the carrier, looking on a bunch of other parked aircraft and vehicles. All settings are at max. I use 8xMSAA together with 1.5 SSAA and 16x AF. DCS is installed on my system SDD drive, loads very fast and with no stutters at all.

When SC was released I had no trouble making decent landings with the Hornet. But the last couple of days, I keep getting waveoffs and bolters. I don´t think it is due to any recent patches or changes. Problem is probably that I have started thinking about how to get it right during the "groove" phase. So it´s back to practice, practice.....

Voice Attack and VAICOM is the best addition I have made to DCS. VAICOM works perfectly with Super Carriers and adds immensely to the immersion factor.

Detection range of ships on the ground mapping radar is below 43 nm. This might become better once SEA mode has been implementet.

While it is broken, I still had fun flying the F/A-18 from the Super carrier and trained using the AGM-84E. I did not know the radar was broken before reading the forums after the mission - so to call it unplayable is not true. Helicopters and WW2 warbirds also works. ..Just to be fair...

The only adjustable range seems to be between 9-24. the number 9 on the drum is even painted as a 6. EDIT **** Forget this ***** Seems to be correct as it is.

What's the maximum range for the Link 13 pod to receive proper image?
fjacobsen replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Using the TPOD for target confirmation, I can launch around 40 nM from the target. Once the AGM-84E has been launched, I fly a full circle, for which I have plenty of time. I might put the target 30-45° off my nose, or even turn tail (remember to use the aft antenna), befoe taking over targeting via the datalink. The AG:84E seems only marginally faster than the F/A-18, so keep pointing towards the target might get You too close on it, if defended. The AGM-84E is really a hybrid of many weapons. Missile from the AGM-84 Harpoorn, warhead from the tomahawk cruise missile, datalink from the Walleye and IR-sensor from the Maverick. -
I think many engine readings are off right now. Excessive CHT. Weird acting Oil pressure Strange oil tempearture. And so on.,, I guess it´s cause we still are in early acces, so let´s wait and see what will happen next.

I need to bring throttles full back for startup
fjacobsen replied to fjacobsen's topic in Bugs and Problems
Note that this issue is bigger on the Channel map, because the outside temperature there is 0°C and cannot be set in the mission builder weather menu. Trying to start on the Normandy map at 20°C went e bit better. Moving the mixture from idle cut-off after the engine catches is very normal. Maybe You got used to MS FSX /P3D wrongly implementet mixture simulation. -
[REPORTED]Unable to adjust temperature in ME
fjacobsen replied to granola1861's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1 Though even on the Nrmandy map, where temperatures can be set to 20°C, the Jug has difficulties to get into the right oil temperature range. -
Thanks for a great module. I have folloed the startup procedure to the letter, both looking into the manual, sa well as watching the Grim Reapers startup video. Apart from the very slow oil pressure stabilisation, I have a problem with the startup. For the startup I have the throttle appr. 1" forward. As soon as the engine catches and I set the mixture to Auto rich the engine starts "pumping". For it to stop "pumping" and run smooth,I need to quickly bring the throttle full back, and then move it forward again. Turbocharger lever is fully back during the entire startup process. All controllers (CH-product Fighterstick, Throttle Qudrant and Pedals). are calibrated and works fine with other modules.

Nope One year after final release (V1.0).

Sure.... AV8B I paid 50$ for EA Final price when released (still EA) 70$ On sale now for 35$ F/A-18 I paid 60$ for EA Final price for released (still EA) 80$ On sale now for 40$ And so forth... Bottom line for me is that I buy the modules on Pre-purcase, that means even before I have a chance to fly and try them, cause I want to back ED. Doinf so, I pay money for something I don´t know what will become. I do this cuase I have the faith that ED eventually will deliver. By putting these EA modules on sale, the people buying them now had plenty of time reading into the feedback from us who took the chance, and they will have instant acces to the module. Is it fair that they can have these modules cheaper than us who took the greater risc ? As I said - it´s my own decision to buy on pre-order, or buy the EA modules on day one of their release. But I have done so because I want to keep this sim alive, and for this to happen (according to ED), this business model is required. In my eyes the pre-order price should be the lowest the module ever will be at, until it has been a finished release version long enough to grant it to be put on sale for a price lower than the pre-order.
