As You said Yourself... To lower fuel consumption on long range cruise - set it to Weak. Just note that the limits for Boost pressure and RPM are lower.

How to give radio command to Your wingmen
fjacobsen replied to fjacobsen's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Thank You very much... I found that I had changed my audio device to a wrong setting in the sound options. -
I cannot figure out how to use the comms radio. Radio frequency for the flight is 124 Mhz, where Channel A is set to 124 Mhz. But sending commands to my wingman, like "Go Line Abreast", "RTB" etc. does nothing. The radio menu items are listed, but no pilot voice or wingman replies are heard. Maybe the comms radio is still WIP.

Comming in the Danish Cinema's 28. October. Telling the story of operation Carthage - the attack on Gestapos HQ in Copenhagen. The operation was only a partial success due to the sad tragedy that some of the Mosquitos also hit the French School. This happened because one of the Mosquito's crashed near the school making some of the other Mosquito's believe that this was the target. Nonetheless the Gestapo HQ was hit and most of the resistance people imprisoned there could flee and the archive about the Danish resistance was destroyed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yBnTjcAJDY

Th Hind is one of the performance heaviest aircraft in DCS. I guess this comes down to it having two cockpits, combined with the number of switches (Each mouse area has to be scanned for interaction). Thats also why the F-14 is heavier perforance wise. This also combined with the lower altitude in which the Hind operates, meaning that more ground detail has to be rendered. Since it´s early acces, some performance gains might come later on.

Expected Mossie performance vs current plane set
fjacobsen replied to Drakeshoot's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I think the Mosquito should be regarded more as a Fighter bomber than a Fighter. I expect to use it for low level pinpoint bombing missions aka the missions it flew in reallife against Gestapo Headquarters and the like. It will also be good for interdiction missions. It can also be used for reconnaissance and weather intel, though such missions sounds boring in a combat flight sim enviroment. Fighter vs fighter engagemnts would mostly only occur as an defensive action when cought be surprice. -
I think they have changed their policy regarding announcing updates, and tht is good. It seems they wait to announce an update until they are quite sure that it is ready and not before. That takes the pressure of the developers and doesn´t create anger in the community - it´s ready when it´s ready. It´s better to wait a week or two, or even more, inorder to ensure that the update is as bugfree as possible.

I really can´t see what's wrong with the AP, also not the Yaw channel. I use a Joystick with a spring, thus I use the "Center trim" option, and don´t have Tailrotor trim (rudder trim) enabled. Pitch and Roll channels work as expected and mostly adds a dampening effect to the inputs. With a deadzone of 5% for my rudder pedals (Tailrotor pedals), the Yaw channel works as expected too. Before takeoff I turn on the Yaw channel. I set my trim for pitch and roll, slightly right and appr. 25-30% aft. I then slowly increase colective and correct any yaw, while still in contact with the ground , with the pedals. As soon as the helicopter get's off the ground I center my pedals, and the Yaw channel will keep the heading. You can see the Yaw channel indicator adjusts the Tailrotor and on the control indicator the pedel input will move without touching the pedals. As long as the pedals are centered, the Yaw channel will try to keep the actual heading. What happens when You start pressing the pedals left or right is that the Yaw channel indicator will center and only provide dampening. Once the pedals are centered again, the Yaw channel will start keeping the heading where on when centering the pedals. The problems some people have with the Yaw channel might be caused by not having a deadzone for the pedals, thus the Yaw channel will not sense this an act up. It really seems that the developers has simulated the pedal switch, most probably found on the real Mi-8, by sensing when the pedals ar pressed off center. Note that the Yaw channel is reset when the Trim reset button is pressed. Also remember that Pitch and Roll can be trimmed with the Trim hat, hwich in most cases is easier and more precise than using the Trim button. Also remember to do a Roll trim with thw Trim hat after firing weapons, cause this can lead to assymetric weight. For landing I slowly bring the trim to the same position as for takeoff (slightly right and 25-30% aft), this way landing becomes very easy and precise. I also keep the Yaw channel on for landing, but mostly it will only dampen the input, due to constant adjustment of heading with the pedals.

I´m not sure if it´s implementet yet. But the sight gyros can be damaged by aggressive flying with the gyros uncaged. When Using the sight (or Petrovich using it) do not make any violent maneuvering. Before doing so - turn off the "Observ" switch for the sight. For Petrovitch to cage the gyros press "S" (or Mi-24_AI-Helper Down) to make him unselect his target at cage the gyro.

Hind Controls, Collective and RPM Control/Throttle
fjacobsen replied to Czechnology's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
I´m not sure, but I still think that there is a difference between the two Helicopters FM, though operation of them will be very similar. As far as I know, the Mi-24 is more suited for running attacks than hovering attacks. -
Hind Controls, Collective and RPM Control/Throttle
fjacobsen replied to Czechnology's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Basicly the Hind is based on the Mi-8 sharing the same engines and rotor system, so I guess engine and rotor system controls are very similar to the Mi-8. On this topic..... I got the Flyinside Bell-47 for MSFS2020 and has set it to manual throttle control. So I need to to control bothe Collective and throttle ie. adjust throotle as a function of rotor torque. It is actually easier as it sounds. -
cannot reproduce and missing track file SLAM-ER Datalink problem
fjacobsen replied to Focha's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Remember on the MFD STORES page to select the WEP OSB at the lower left and select one of the SLAM-ER's on the left side of the MFD. Returning to the STORES page, ensure that on the top below DL13 is indicated SLMR. -
I think it is caused by the VR Headset settings. I deleted fxo and metashade2 folders under "my games" Then deleted the shader folder in the main DCS fokder and ran a "Repair all files". I forgot to start the Oculus tray tool before starting DCS and the mask showed up on my monitor. I then quit DCS, ran the OTT, startet DCS and the mask was gone. With OTT I set pixel density to 1.7 and set FOV to 0.70 x 0.75. FPS before and after (with or without the mask visible) was the same. Do botyom mije is that You shouldn't be worried that the mask isn't visible, since it probably cones down to some of Your other settings. As long as the sim runs smooth everything is fine/.

With all the changes that have come in, where on Earth do I start?
fjacobsen replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in AV-8B N/A
Where does those mixed feelings about GR come from ? GR are among the most learnfull and entertaining Youtubers around. They are my no. 1 source of learning DCS modules systems - not always correct, but still... -
I don´t see it either. Maybe because I have set the resolution in DCS to 1280x768 while my Oculus Quest is set to 4128x2096. I have also set my oculus Quest to FOV to 0.70x0.75. Changing tis to 0x0 (1.00x1.00) does not make the Mask appear. Nevertheless my performance with 2.7.0 is about the same as in 2.5.6 with the shader mod (Kegetys), so I´m not worried about the missing appearance of the Mask.
-
Let´s see how it will perform. I hope though that the VR shader mod still will work with the new clouds.

Note that the Mi-24 Hind is Pre-Sale, not Early Acces yet. I made this mistake when I jumped in Pre-ordering, but it´s only a minor mistake, since this is a No-brainer buy for me. I guess the Mosquito will come as Early Access together, or close after, version 1.2.7 OB is released, so I will be occupied for some time after that and until the Hind will arrive in Early Acces.
-
I cannot see why You shouldn´t be abe to use it in SP. You might need to "jump" to the radio operators seat to set the radios, but I´m quite sure that You can communicate via the radios from the Pilot´s seat. With a WW2 aircraft I even don´t think that there will be alot of frequency changes required during a flight. Maybe the Mosquito comes with some kind of simple Autopilot to keep it level and follow the heading it had at AP engagement, just like we have in the Huey.

It works fine, but for each PD change You must restart DCS to see the effect.
-
Not sure what happened, but restarting DCS helped getting the VAICOM Kneeboard back together with my own custom Kneeboard page.
-
Yes my own custom Kneeboard page works fine, but the the VAICOM pages don´t show up.
-
Adding custom Kneeboard pages to f.ex: C:\Users\[User Name]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\FA-18C_hornet\ ....removes the VAICOM Kneeboard pages. How to fix ?

Great news . This module felt very finished at release, but enhancements are always welcomed. I think this module is underrated by the community - but I can highly recommend it.

Yep - and now the Fishbed is flyable again - time to re-learn this bird
