what does it matter, even if its 70% discount, we don't have a date and we don't have a price., unless I've missed something. Lets say its 35% then people will whinge it should be more. if its 50% then people will whinge its not fair that hornet buyers get 20% more. People love to whinge around here.

Suggest you clean case, fans and heatsinks from dust. remove CPU, clean and re-apply thermal paste. This is free (other than paste if you need it), and may fix your issue.

That's the one I couldn't remember name of Above. Would have got his but too cost prohibitive in Australia. For some reason, no one sells them.

If not done when over locking, Cheapest thing to try is remove the cpu cooler then Clean fan and heatsink of dust. Clean cpu and heatsink of paste (rubbing/isopropyl alcohol) Replace with new thermal paste. Clean out the rest of the pc and graphics card and case fans. If you did all that two weeks ago, you're asking too much of the cpu, or too much for your cooling setup. In which case, either reduce the overclock, or add cooling. As far as cpu coolers go, you'll get many differing views. I've had good luck with the hyper Evo 212, but many say it's crap. There's a newer cheapish one that everyone recommends but couldn't get it in Australia, so I've forgotton it's name. There's some great YouTube reviews where they test same scenarios over and over with different coolers.

Trim problem? Aircraft climbs steady after takeoff
chrisgrind replied to v2tec's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Happens to me every now and then. Reset button works for me. -
Heat skin on M2 sdd What m2 is it? Sata? Nvme? Make sure it has latest firmware. And heatsink won't hurt, probably will help. Especially with less airflow. I'd be making sure it has a fan pointed near it regardless. I bought a 1tb and 500gb crucial p1 m2 nvme and the 1tb ran stupid hot. 45c idle. 90c copying. Firmware update brought it down to 60c copying. I bought heatsink to put on, but haven't done it yet. Planning to let people know outcome once I do. But wanted to run for a while to see if it works. My understanding is that for most nvme, it's recommended to have a heat sink. M2 sata, I don't think it's as big deal. Double check heatsink will fit. I'm not sure my heatsink will fit on my mobo under the gpu. It's new build, so didn't realise that till it was built.

Thanks, will see if I can find a copy on Australia.

Pretty sure that's what I got. Best bang for buck for more. Research I did suggested 3200 cl14 or 3600cl18 were about the same. Cl 18 on 3600 is a sweet spot for normal people without insane budgets. The cl16 was a nice bonus at no extra cost in my case. I haven't played with timings other than set to 3600.

Anyone got a guide on using rudder while flying please? Ie, when and how?

Moving DCS to NVMe M.2 drive

Pretty sure you can just copy it, then run repair from command prompt. See cleanup and repair https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/709/ Then update your shortcuts. -
will this rig run dcs in vr well?

Sorry, I edited my post while you were replying. For me it was essentially the same price. -

will this rig run dcs in vr well? I read the opposite. Unless you are comparing 3200 cl14 to 3600 cl18, in which case they are about on par. 3200 Cl 16 was about the same price as 3600 cl16 here, so I went with that. But yeah, from what I've read, Ryzen are the only country that can make a difference...I've never bothered stressing about timings in the past. Shrugs. If I oc it, I'll let people know outcome :) -

will this rig run dcs in vr well? To my surprise, I liked the rgb ram I got, subtle. My red cooler fans, not so much. But it's cheaper with led than without. Shame the ram is so much bigger, that's more of an issue than the lights -
RAM 2x16GB vs 8x8GB.. any suggestions?
chrisgrind replied to sirrah's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
my understanding as that 4 sticks is slower than 2. So if you can go 2x16 in one hit, do that. -

i wish. the cheapest RAM that was 3600 for me here in Australia was RGB. to get CL16 in non RGB was another $150. ouch. -
I'm about to build a new pc and considering which way to go myself. The real world difference to you, is sales are different. Ed may do a sale today, but steam tomorrow. I found out after I bought hornet on steam as it was cheaper, ed did a sale that matched the price +$5 and included the gulf map. So If I had waited 2 weeks, I would have had another map. Modern modules bought on steam can be moved to stand alone, but not the other way. Older modules it depends, but most can go from steam to stand alone I believe (I only wanted hornet, so don't look into it). It's been asked a heap, so have a search. But that's the crux of it. There are other things like update speeds, steam chat, etc bit IMO it's about the above as all the little things really aren't a big deal.

So it's the most efficient and easiest pathway?

Budget - Mid Range GPU Selection
chrisgrind replied to chrisgrind's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
nice. I had hoped to run the 5700xt in my old i5, just to compare to the 270/290, but I can't fit the card into my old computer case. Would have been interesting to see how much of a bonus you get, despite massive CPU bottleneck. -

I've been waiting 2 weeks for mine now. Still don't have stock. -
Budget - Mid Range GPU Selection
chrisgrind replied to chrisgrind's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
the other catch with the b450 is the RAM speed is probably less than 3600, ryzen apparently shine with faster RAM, so you may want to weigh up that cost extra...but that said, you'll need to then spend more on RAM, so the cost does go up. -

I ended up getting permission from the boss, so I'm waiting on delivery of 3600 with 5700xt. I went with x570 as I decided with the money I was spending, an extra $70aud was worth it...i think in USA the b450 is heeeeaps cheaper though, in which case the b450 tomahawk max (emphasis on the max - there are two versions) is supposedy the best board on a budget x570 gets you pci4 which is largely useless in todays world..but it may give you a better upgrade path in say 3 years if you update your GPU. if you get the 5700xt, dont get the aus tuf gaming...its a lemon. I got choices down to the gigabyte gaming OC (which i bought) and the red devil. if you're not in a rush, I should get my bits next week (They are stuffing me around...sigh) -
I run CH manager as my TDC always needs calibrating. I then leave it running and run DCS without any issues. I do all assignments in DCS however. Win 10, latest updates, fighterstick, pro pedals and pro throttle.

Thanks. Hornet is where I'm at. I did consider going for centre stick and extending the stick, but probably won't go to the effort. If you decide to swap, please report back with which you prefer. Probably too late for me, but for future searchers :)
