Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range
Lucky replied to KEULE's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Having lived in Las Vegas I can tell you there isn't much vegetation outside Las Vegas or desert communities. Scrub brush, barrel cactus, some desert flowers, that's about it. Colors will probably show differently on different monitors so I take them with a grain of salt. The desert floor is pretty much shades of brown while some mountains will have muted oranges and reds and be devoid of trees. Areas around Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire State Park will have more color. I'm not a Koolaid drinker by any means but I think this map will be well worth the wait. -
I have the Corsair HX850i fully modular PSU. It powers everything in my rig. See my sig below.

Hadn't thought to disassemble the base. I've had it apart before for greasing up. Thanks for the tip. I want to say, this is in no way a reflection on your extension. I think it's great
-
Anyone else have a problem removing their extension from the base. I hand tightened mine when I first got it. Now I can't remove it. I am afraid if I put too much force on it I will break the gimble in the base.

URGENT TMWH retailers in Atlanta, NJ or NY
Lucky replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I second B&H. I've bought a Warthog form them and also lots of photography equipment. They are about 2 hrs from Atlantic City and just a few blocks from The Intrepid Museum. -
Something is not right. Specs in my sig. I only run one of my GTX 970's with most settings on high. I get stutter and judder free FPS Consistently in the high 60's and 70's. CPU and GPU at stock speed

Priorities man, priorities. Didn't want to walk to work. I haven't give up, just postponed for a while. Still have plenty of equipment to keep me flying.
-
I had to give up my spot in line since my 14 year old Altima finally went belly up a couple of weeks ago. Planned on buying a new car in August but had to do it sooner then planned. Hopefully I'll be able to get a set later in the year. This is what I bought instead
-
Specs are in my sig. Runs anything I throw at it very well. Runs DCS in the high 60-70 FPS range with only one GTX 970. DCS doesn't play well with SLI yet.

Any word on the May orders? I'm on that list.

Msi Gtx 970 4g and i7 4790k low fps
Lucky replied to trooph's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I went from the 20's and 30's FPS with an AMD 8350 Vishera and 7970 to 60's and up with my i7 4790k and 1 GTX 970. Running 2 GTX 970's in SLI actually reduced FPS back to the 30's -
Thanks for the update. I'm looking at May now. Can't wait.

Warthog throttle problems, spikes and floppyness...
Lucky replied to DTWD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How old is it. Can you open a ticket with Thrustmaster. They are very good about giving out replacement parts. -
Does that video card have 2 GPU's? The reason I ask is DCS doesn't really play well with SLI/Crossfire. My specs are in my sig. When I run one video card I get 60 - 70 FPS. When running both cards in SLI, FPS drops to the 40's. DCS 2.0 should improve that.

Got the newsletter and order validation. Looks like probably June or July for me.

Any update on these rudder pedals. Last post on his website was late last year.

I've been away from this program for a little while after getting rid of my ipad 4th gen. I just bought an iPad Air 2 and want to get this going again. I have everything installed. I can see the MFCD's and CDU on the iPad. Issue is, no buttons work on the iPad. The last time I had this issue I had to move the scripts folder into my "saved games/DCS" folder. This time it's there already but still no joy. I can click in the cockpit and see the changes on the iPad but not the other way around. I opened a ticket with bit-shift. Got it working by changing the name of the scripts folder and letting DCS create a new one and forcing an update on the Virtual cockpit server screen.

Building a new desktop for DCS 2.0
Lucky replied to Witchking's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
From the DCS world 2 discussion Some features we plan to include in DCS World 2 include: Direct X 11 support Improved performance Dynamic shadowing of the terrain and mountains Improved weather Improved lighting Clipmap support for new maps Higher object counts Higher resolution ground terrain mesh and textures for new maps (between 1 and 64 meters per pixel depending on area of map and clipmap level) More detailed tree models with collision for new maps Better graphical effects High resolution road textures for new maps Ability for road signs and light signals for new maps Additional ground clutter (rocks, cactuses, etc.) for new maps Skeleton animation for infantry Better use of multiple GPUs (CPU multi-threading is not being pursued as it will provide little if any gain) Ability to create dedicated servers in the future Unified front end and simulation .exe Improved API sound support Improved Oculus Rift support DCS World 2 will make better use of multiple GPU's. We can only assume it would help EDGE also. -
Building a new desktop for DCS 2.0
Lucky replied to Witchking's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just completed a new build myself (see my sig). Went from AMD to Intel, Nvidia. Only upgraded the CPU, GPU, mobo, memory and PSU. Everything else is from my previous build. Waiting on the 2nd GTX970. Initially ordered 2, 1 was DOA and had to be RMA'd. -
He mentioned sometime around Feb, March, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
-
I just filled out the pre-order form. Hope to get a set in the next batch.

Received mine. Very good quality and fit. Thanks Adam.
