"Feels", not "looks?" That's informative.

I am up to date and don't run any mods in the base game and have run a full Repair to ensure my installation integrity. I'm also claiming exactly what the OP is. It's been this way for over 6 months!

Could you please just put it back to what it was, at least until you have something better? We no longer get informative sounds like the wonderful airframe shaking noise we used to get passing into and out of translational lift. The APU can hardly be heard anymore, that cool sound when you shut it down is gone. And the force trim no longer makes the snapping sound, which in the real thing is loud and distinctive (I've heard it clearly over the engine and rotor noise in cockpit videos of the real thing). You have internal builds. I'm not sure why unfinished stuff is getting promoted into the Stable release. OR... can we download the old sounds somewhere and mod it without breaking IC? I don't know why we keep "fixing" stuff that was already excellent before. Don't you have any new modules to work on? How about bird sounds? Insects? Make the civilian traffic make noise and get rid of the canned traffic noises that some maps have that make no sense in unpopulated areas.

Good illustration of the fragile tailwheel in that second clip. -

Here's the tracks for my videos above. (I greased the landing though so maybe not the best example.) Mosquito_New_Suspension_Test_04.trk P-47_New_Suspension_Test_01.trk TF-51_New_Suspension_Test_01.trk -

Here you go. Included the other two as well for comparison. -
Got it. ED should make this a stock function.
-
Just open the Key/Button dropdown. There they are! (I almost never use the dropdown because I prefer to just hit the control I want. And it understandably doesn't work for the OFF functions, so I never noticed them before now.)
-
It's like his 6th post. Not the best way to introduce yourself to the community. "Hey guize! I got an idea! Why don't we pay to fly?"
-
That was the TF-51 (I did so so everybody would be able to view my track). I'll try the P-51 and see if it's different and also do some hard landings and see if I can get some tire sink. Do the two variants act the same? Do we really have 2 or 3 different P-51s to test every time we talk about Mustang issues? (Just did a quick test and yeah, you're right, the wheel animations are reversed! LOL!)
-
Oh yeah, there are OFF functions! Who knew? LOL! (I always just press the button I want so I guess the OFF functions don't get applied that way as they'd always turn OFF when you release the button. Makes sense.) Well there's your answer, @sthompson! Where did you find that "else" function, @MAXsenna? Searched for it, read every View option, but I don't see it. (Or is that mocked up? Or maybe particular to a certain aircraft? I thought all A/C shared the same View functions, no?) I think we all learned something here tonight! LOL!null
-
I mean in my own plane, not the horrible rubber banding we get in multiplayer that makes entire planes sink into runways. Just in case that's what you're referring to. You can see what I mean in the videos I posted. As far as I can see I don't see any tire sinking (though, again, I think that would be a fair way to visually model tire deformation - though the slicker way would be to deform the mesh). I *do* think I might be seeing some tire deformation on the P-47 though, but it's quite subtle (I didn't really give it a hard landing or drive over any bumps or anything like that - I should try that).
-
Oh right, good point! Does F10 do something different in the map or is it otherwise unused? If so, yeah, it should take you back to the view you were previously in before entering the map. THEN it would be a toggle. Sorry, forgot it doesn't do that.
-
It's always driven me nuts too. (And a view through binoculars only looks like that in the movies. Though maybe a little animation of our eyes aligning parallax to them in the first fraction of a second after you put them on might be cool. Way less important than getting their FoV accurate and unchanging though.)
-
Again, you mean momentary. They are toggles because you hit them once to turn them on and again to turn them off. It toggles on and off. (Which, also again, is arguably no greater work than needing to hold a momentary switch down.) You could maybe coax your controller's driver to send the same command when the button is released, but then you can end up with it reversed. (Though hitting the keyboard key will put it back in "sync".)
-
To find any known key function in the Controls Options, just hit the key or combo and it'll take you straight to that entry. (If you've already filtered the list with the dropdown or search function it won't work until the next time you enter the Controls Options screen.) You could have also just searched for "map".
-
Here's videos of the three tracks I already posted, above, focusing on the gear. The Mustang's suspension is incredibly soft, with one side completely collapsing and the other completely extending just from doing a tight turn. It even bounces on the shocks just from engine vibration when idle! (As does the Mosquito, though its suspension feels overall stiffer.) If real aircraft do this it should be pretty easy to get video of it. But I've never seen it. I also don't see any obvious tire deformation (or sinking into the ground to simulate the same) on the Mustang or Mosquito but I think I see it on the P-47.
-
So a momentary switch instead of a toggle. Why not just press the button twice, as you do now? Is having to hold a button down to get the map to stay up any more or less work than simply needing to click the same button again to make the map disappear? My wish is we had cockpit sound in the map view. Weird that we get "radio" messages (and I assume/hope voice-chat though frankly I haven't even tried it yet) in the map view but no engine noise, wind sound, damage sounds, and all the other sounds that would be particularly valuable and informative while "heads down" in the map.
-
Deal breaker. We literally wait major portions of a decade for our modules to become complete (and even then, only to have them suddenly broken again at any time) and now you expect us to PAY to wait? Two wrongs don't make a right.

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
SMH replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Why do people use a phone for the web when they're sitting in front of a real computer? And I don't know how to say this any clearer, but here's the contents of the rar file, and you want to unpack it under your "Saved Games/DCS/mods/tech/" folder. It already has the "Massun91-Humans" folder in the top level of the rar file, so no need to create the folder. Just unpack it and move that folder into tech. Then relaunch DCS and it should be in there.- 523 replies

Yeah and presumably you got the other folder extracted correctly. (But then you take photos of your screen so I'm suspecting user error. )- 523 replies

Yeah, the Mustang used to be easy to brake turn but now is really hard. Messing with curves may actually help that a bit, but it shouldn't be our job to second guess ED's modeling. (They have said it's WIP so hopefully they'll tweak it some more.) Note that that stick forward/back thing is only for the Mustang. And, weirdly, the I-16 has it too! The FW-190s also do it except the tailwheel is locked to center with the stick back, it doesn't track the rudder like in the Mustang and I-16. The P-47 and Bf-109 have a manual tail wheel lock lever. And the Mossie and Spitfire don't have locking tailwheels at all, making the first part of your takeoff roll terrifyingly touchy. Also note that locked tailwheels will be (or at least should be) more effective when the stick is held back as that increases down force on the tailplane. (Obviously some propwash or forward speed is needed as well, to blow on the elevator.) What do you think is wrong with the Mossie main gear? They seem pretty reasonable to me. The tailwheel definitely gets broken and stuck down too easily though.
-
You absolutely should have the stick forward of center if you're using differential braking to turn the Mustang. With the stick back in the Mustang the tailwheel becomes locked to the rudder, so differential braking will just skid the tail around (I'm not sure if this is very well modeled anymore, it feels a bit reluctant to turn either way now and we hear a skid sound when diff braking with the stick forward - I'd be curious to know which wheel it's conceptually coming from as I wouldn't think you should hear skids unless you were taxiing at dangerously high speeds. Might be a clue as to what's currently wrong with the model.) Stick back, turn with rudder. Stick forward, turn with brakes. If you need to make a sharp turn you'll want stick forward/brakes. Calibration is a normal thing to have to do for most controllers. Not really a "fix", just a regular maintenance thing.
