There are so many buttons I look at and wonder "what the hell does that do?" ED mercifully gave us an English cockpit on release.

Okay, I did some troubleshooting. The left switch has to be up for the map to function. I think one thing that's throwing me off is the green light on the map - I thought it meant "on", but I'm 50% certain I saw it illuminated once when the switch was in the down position. You can see in Wags' videos that it's sometimes on, and sometimes off. You can see it turn on here:

Is this system functional in the current version of the hind? I only got the little green light to appear once, and otherwise the system is always off. When it was on, the location indicator was going in a completely different direction - I was heading northwest, the indicator on the map had me going south. The doppler system doesn't seem to work for me at all either. I have a decent amount of practice in the Mi8, so I feel like I am operating it properly.

Did you have jitter all throughout the axis? I only get it towards the bottom 20% of the range, and it's driving me crazy. I tried different USB ports, I tried opening it up and trying to blow it out with compressed air, but nothing helped so far.

This one makes it difficult to employ the autopilot. In the MI8 I'm constantly adjusting these knobs.

Are you sure you selected the correct steer point? -
Speaking only for myself, there were 3 things I was doing wrong : Rushing it. If you make sure you're nicely trimmed before moving in to connect, it will make it a lot easier. The less you have to fight your own aircraft, the more you can focus on the task at hand. Focusing on the basket. Once I focused on the refueling pod under the wing, and just used peripheral vision for the basket, I was able to successfully connect on most attempts. Chasing the basket is a recipe for frustration. Tensing up. Right before fueling up I make sure to relax, and that has made a massive difference. I'm definitely not the best at it, but I can AAR pretty easily in the 16 and 18.

I'm not trolling, just curious - aside from aircraft/engine/radar performance, can the F-15C do anything the F/A-18C can't? Any unique/different radar modes or weapons?
-
I would probably buy it because I buy most modules, but if I'm in the mood for AA, the 16 and 18 can scratch that itch pretty good. I don't really need another platform to launch AIM-120s. I would only be excited about a high fidelity AA-only platform if it was redfor.

I'm getting the same thing. When I launch the updater, it downloads for maybe 20-30 seconds, then the transfer speed drops to 0kb/sec and stays there. I tried leaving it running overnight, but it was still at 0kb/sec in the morning and made no progress. It's quite frustrating having to cancel -> reload -> cancel -> reload it until it's done. I'm on a 1.5gbit line, fresh windows 10 install, and have no issues downloading anything else.

You can select loads individually in the MI-8 module, and I believe it's the same team working on the hind, so possibly. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not suggesting this as a realistic solution, but I got an elgato stream deck, and programmed the auto pilot buttons with on/off indications. It has made flying much easier for me, but again, not a solution for everyone.

I wish they would at least let the community fix the campaigns. First mission of the deployment campaign, and your AI partner can't even do half of the introduction mission without crashing into the ground for no reason. I would and have fixed some of these things in the past, but each patch I have to reapply my changes.

VLOF is liftoff, but I've never once seen it used anywhere.

Just out of curiosity, could you do the same video with the controls indicator showing?

no such promise ever made COMPLETE F-16 in 2020?
Scofflaw replied to giullep's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
The Hornet is unlikely to be completed before the end of the year, and it is being prioritized over the Viper right now. I somewhat prefer features being introduced one at a time, so that I can learn/practice them as they come out. Progress is slower than I expected, but I wouldn't say I ever run out of things to do in DCS with the modules I currently own. -
That's exactly what I'm after - I want to hit full mil at the detent. I'm just noticing that full mil power is actually above the line on the control indicator. I've been using that indicator to set my curves, but it doesn't seem accurate on the hornet and viper. I just set my curves ignoring that indicator for now, so it's not a problem I can't work around.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at fuel flows, I get a jump of 10-15 when I cross the line, with no visible burner in the exhaust (I checked during a night flight). When I go a slight bit higher, there's a ~4000 bump in FF, and then I see the faint glow. The nozzle position is also an indication that the ABs have lit. In the middle snapshot below, based on the throttle position indication, the ABs should be lit, correct?

Sorry if this has been addressed, but I haven't found anything in my searches. While redoing all my controls to match my warthog's detent, I noticed that the afterburner on the F/A-18 and F-16 do not light as soon as you go above that line on the indicator. I actually have to pass it quite a bit before the afterburners engage. I'm basing this on both the spike in fuel burn and the afterburner flame. This is full mil power for me on the F/A-18, the ABs engage when I go above this: (the F-16 is at approximately the same location) Shouldn't the ABs engage right above that line?

Mi-8 Single Mission - Syria. It's great!
Scofflaw replied to Wizz's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Flying the Mi-8 can be such a nice break sometimes. Even though both my hands and feet are busy while flying, I find it relaxing focusing solely on flying.- 1 reply

Thanks for testing. I don't want to derail this thread, but my Viggen piloting skills need work. I think my controls have something to do with it - the Viggen is the only aircraft where my warthog HOTAS has a slight right roll input when the stick is neutral, and the rudder is SO sensitive by default.

I'm constantly getting the same crash. I have my core and memory clocks set to +0MHz, and it still crashes. Right now it seems to crash more on specific missions, but I need to do more testing.

Just FYI - I was experiencing a lot of CTDs with this module, but when I turned off all overclocking on my GTX 1080, it went away.
