  1. I preemptively called in sick tomorrow.
  2. I will pre-order all modules I'm interested in.
  3. Thanks for the tips. I tried that mission a few more times, but the only way I can complete it is with labels on, since some units you need to clear out are in the woods. I think I'll have to wait until they fix the old missions to continue with my campaign playthroughs
  4. Fail the medical requirements to operate the jet and then uninstall DCS?
  5. Speaking strictly for myself, I really don't find VR all that enjoyable with DCS. I have the original HTC Vive, as well as a GTX 1080 - I find the headset quite uncomfortable for anything over 15 minutes, and I have to fiddle with the graphic settings for a while to get it reduced to where the FPS are acceptable. My overall opinion on VR is that I'm glad I tried it, but it's not compelling enough an experience to keep me interested.
  6. I'm having issues with some missions. I know there's an known issue with mission assets located in forests after the Caucasus update, but that's only part of my problem. For example, I'm struggling with the Operation Medvedev II campaign. On the second mission, you're tasked with clearing out some AAA emplacements so that the MI8 can land safely. I had absolutely no idea where they were, so I tried to fly around somewhat quickly around the perimeter of the city on the other side of the hill. The only way I can figure out target locations is when I start seeing tracers heading my way. I noticed if I have enough speed, dodging incoming fire isn't too difficult, and then I'll know where they are. I cleared 3 emplacements this way, and I couldn't find the others, so I had no choice but to overfly the city. There must have been an emplacement hidden behind a building, because at one point I saw tracers coming straight up from directly below me and it damaged me to the point that I had to RTB and end the mission. So, when flying solo, how on earth do you look for targets in a city/town? Do you have no choice but to fly a perimeter and really take your time with the shkval? Quick tangent - the units in the forests are really mission breaking. On another attempt, I got shot down by some AAA in a forest that didn't fire at me last time I flew overhead. I also noticed manpands in the forests will sometimes hit the tree right in front of them and kill themselves.
  7. If I had to guess, I'd say CCIP bomb deliveries.
  8. I had to format my HDD a few months ago, and I lost all the hours listed in my logbook. Kind of wish it would be backed up online somehow, as trivial a feature as that may seem.
  9. x-wing module confirmed! I'm starting to see why pilots who have flown both say the FA18 has a better pilot interface when compared to the F16 It's really great that we get to see these two modules side by side at this quality level.
  10. There's a history of teases in Matt's videos, with future modules being visible on the ramp.
  11. I use it more for A/G just because I prefer the play style. I'm terrible at BFM so I get frustrated quickly when I try.
  12. I'm looking forward to the updates. Definitely one of the more challenging modules to master.
  13. Funny, I just noticed this last night as well. I was able to climb above 70,000ft with full fuel and no weapons. I was supersonic for nearly the entire climb too. I also noticed on the way back down pitch control was wonky. Slight stick back would hit 8g almost immediately, and slight stick forward would peg it the other way. Obviously none of the above was scientific. The last time I had an issue like this was with the mig29, when you were able to climb halfway up to the moon. They fixed that though.
  14. I'm itching too. I always found the early academic videos to be the most fascinating part of stepping into a new module.
  15. I think it's more excitement than impatience.
  16. I spy vice grips and metal shavings.
  17. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234758 The braking feels super ineffective to me too, but I have 0 flight hours in real hornets. It feels like it's one of the least effective modules when it comes to stopping power. Again, speaking from 0 hours of experience in the real thing.

    Targeting pod

Same here. I'm more eager to learn the fundamentals and to see how it flies.
  19. Sorry, I should have said flaps increase parasitic and induced drag as well as lift. I can't say whether this is modeled in DCS or not.
  20. Flaps increase drag and should help you slow down.
  21. Thanks for doing these tests. I was always curious myself about drag effects, but I don't have half the patience you have.
  22. I was thinking "instant purchase for me", but then I saw it's free.
  23. Try setting a huge deadzone just to verify. The ctrl-enter display isn't sharp enough to show tiny roll inputs.
