  1. Hey, did you find someone already?
  2. Is there any page or instruction covering the current damage model of the f-16? I am not sure if it's done properly or just you-get-hit-you-go-boom at the early access stage? Best,
  3. Syria map has more fps with clouds than before 2.7 without them. I don't know how such amount of voxels isn't killing our gpus. Still smooth in 4k with 2080 card. As for now, they are not affecting AI line of sight yet. Players only.
  4. Thanks Flappie, seems to work for me. SU-25 crash report in some other post is therefore related to this thread, not the su-25 free flight mission.
  5. Now I think it might be not a su-25 related crash. It might be the crash of ANY second flight after running the sim. Tere is a separate thread about this somewhere else...
  6. Something different here. I get no performance hit in 4k at 2080 i9-9430. Syria seems to work even smoother than before 2.7 update. All this with clouds on High and AO (!) enabled. Noone seems to register that long awaited Ambient Oclussion is finally here. For me, it's almost as nice as clouds.
  7. As in the topic. Mint version, no mods, just reinstalled. Every Free fly mission with Su-25 crashes to desktop. Go and try to reproduce. Re-downloading Hornet now
  8. this is a known bug when using flat terrain shadows if I remember good.
  9. For these concerned: Currently as part of the initial release, clouds do not affect LOS for the AI.
  10. USA flag stripe on the pilot's left sleeve is reversed - Fixed
  11. I've dumped mirage 2000 module because of that. Razbam refunded without problems.
  12. Nope, voxels are not calculated on Cpu unless they move within themselves or you stir them (like tornado). The display of voxel is purely GPU, thanks god, and internal movement is usually faked with masking animated textures that say where cloud is transparent and where it's not. You can move a whole cloud with GPU as well. You simply don't want to stir the clouds - that's currently CPU only, but some engines start to support real time fluid animation equations on GPU.
  13. Imagine the virtual pressure that Wags and other devs currently feel. So many fans not to dissapoint...
  14. They said there will be no significant drop in fps due to the clouds. These are voxel-made and in games like flight simulator or red dead redemption a similar resolution clouds take away not more than 5 fps in ultra quality (smallest voxel) in full HD. The problem starts if you play in resolutions like 4k or VR (like I do) - then I am sure the clouds will have a big impact, since voxel resolution grows in 3 axes instead of only two (as pixels do). So in 4k screen res is 4 times more pixels, but also even more voxels in clouds due to increase in screen resolution. In 4k gaming you have "times 4 times 4 times 4 more" voxels than in HD. Probably some 4k players will have to downgrade to HD resolution, which is a big problem. We will see, hopefully tomorrow...
  15. I mean - are failures in f-18 already implemented? If I click Random Failures in menu, can I expect to get some cautions or engine fails during the flight in current stage of F-18 development? I don't even ask for F-16 since it is very young module.
  16. BUT: is this all required in the sim? Are BITs and failures currently recreated?
  17. Perhaps Undo-Redo function with large number of steps. And ability for unit to move in random-walk mode in designated radius. To avoid these very big numbers of waypoints even for a single soldier. Random walk in Radius of "600ft", for example. This would make infantry moving more naturally around target area, now they usually stick in place, because noone wants to draw overlapping circles with path of hundreds of waypoints.
  18. I dont understand stuff you mentioned above, but I admire the level of insight.
  19. Where exactly is that export video option located? Does it record in say, 60fps mp4 ready to import to Premiere Pro or directly to youtube?
  20. I would strongly suggest the creation of former Yugoslavian area or Kosovo conflict map. All the hardware and modules are perfectly aligned with this era. Perhaps there is similar suggestion or plan for this area? I think many of us are tired with rather flat and sandy areas of nevada, iran, syria... Something like Caucasian 2.0 but with higher ground mesh resolution would be perfect. SA-6 shooting down F-16 ... or famous downing of F-117. Strikes on TV stations, dropping clustered aluminium foil onto electric grid cables... You know the mood
  21. I remember some website (or forum entry?) where someone described how dcs engine models aerodynamics of missiles. I would like to see (with images) the way "hitboxes" are positioned on the plane model or how to visualize radar cone in-game. I am sure I saw such stuff somewhere, but I don't remember where or how to look for it. Is there a way to get links to some of similar resources? Best,
  22. OP here Thanks for all information above. After several days of training and trying various curves with AA refueling mission, I start to get more decent results. The [Ctrl + Enter] input viewer is very useful in solving curves problems. It seems I am at the stage where curves aren't perfect, but at least I can fly under tanker and get connection for a moment. The problem stays with throttle (too slow or too fast) but I guess it is now a question of practice. Do you have any advices about throttle movements during air refuel? Do you move it back-forward in some certain rhytm? 2-3 times per second or some rare corrections when needed? In the hornet, rhytmic and quite frequent throttle micro-corrections are the best to keep onspeed. Viper seems to be more woobly with speed. Too fast or too slow. I will write something after month from now and we will see if it was a practice problem or a result of bad setup.
  23. I think I had this issue as well, but I resolved it by setting in-cockpit display resolution to 1024 every frame. On 256, the resolution is too small to cover thin lines. I am not sure if it helps in similar cases, in my case it worked. I fly in 4k resolution. thanks,
  24. The 2nd point: This is exactly what I am whining about in my experience with Viper. Huge deadzone and sudden G loads. Have you resolved the issue, and if I may ask - what are your current axis settings? I'd like to see some solid example, to start with tweaking something. Right now I am on default ones.
  25. I've implemented and tested all the good advices mentioned above. As mentioned before, I am not bad when flying, landing or air refueling on f-18 and a-10. But the truth with f-16 is still the same: without using trim, I can't currently fly in straight line, and landing is almost always an ugly mess. I don't think it is about training and hours issue, the issue is too vivid to be a "conversion from f-18 problem". It seems impossible to air refuel in such state: I can move my stick to half of it range and jet doesn't roll at all, I move it into 55% of it's max angle and the plane suddenly drops it's wing with strong momentum. There is almost no gradual change on axis, just one big step like on-off. I've set default settings on every axis and removed trim from my thumb to avoid urge of using it to compensate these 'jumps'. Perhaps the saitek x52 stick is the problem? I'd be glad to find someone who flies dcs viper on x52 and refuels without using trim. Landing looks like the stick has to be all over place per second, to compensate huge pitch or yaw drops while plane flies on a very ugly, distorted glide path. I start to think about purchasing warthog stick with extension to get some more axis sensitivity or at least saitek x56. Or going back to f-18, wating for new flight model for the viper assuming the current one is broken. But then: how about all these youtube videos where guys easily air refuel their vipers with minimal stick inputs on the ctrl+enter stick indicator?
