Hi Guys I am busy putting together my desktop pit. I don't have the space or money to build anything more just yet. I am really struggling to put it all together in my head and was wondering if you guys out there with desktop pits would mind posting some pics of your setups. Sure I have used Google but ever since they switched their images links to link to the page URL and not the actual image, it is a real pain, normally end up going from Google to Pinterest, and the Pinterest links back to the Google image. I will also be able to ask for more info on things I see that I might be able to use. Current setup is: TMWH Stick and Throttle. (On top of the desk, either side of keyboard.) Saitek Pedals. 2 x Cougar MFDS A 3D printed UFC - not to scale, I have designed it the same size as the Cougars. 3D printed button boxes that fit next to the Throttle My biggest issue is mounting the MFDS and UFS and a place to put the monitor so it still looks kinda reasonable. Oh my main module is the Hornet and my UFC is based off of that. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have come up with.

DD clarified this a few posts after mine - Quote: I know some are still SAMs in the AA group, but I consider the "standalone" units that don't require a separate unit to be an AA threat alone. Make sense to me

DCS-BIOS Dynamic Mapping based on Aircraft Type Code
TechRoss replied to Blue73's topic in Home Cockpits
I don't think that would be possible, as each DCS-BIOS script is specific to a singe module. Things like MMJoy and Arduino Joystick library would give you a default / generic joystick, but this is very different to DCS-BIOS. -
I have SAM=0 and still get SAMs on Easy most the time. Just for input.

Oh geezzz, sorry man. Hate to have wasted your time. Some much good stuff and info on the forum, it is hard to keep up with what is happening and must have missed that the Helo script has moved to the framework. Thanks Ross

Edit: Disregard, I am being a dump ass.... I was looking at my problem with the CVN changing course, and the Rescue Helo script seems to be the problem. local RandomRoute is set to false. Just as more info.

DCS-BIOS F/A-18C library. Get it here!

Just got home and also did a quick test and it is working perfectly. Thanks a mill Andrew. -
DCS-BIOS F/A-18C library. Get it here!
TechRoss replied to Bullant's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I was thinking that but then don't know enough about the inner workings of DCS and DCS-BIOS. It does seem strange they work differently to other buttons. If I assign them to my generic joystick controller it is a simple momentary push button. Thanks so much for this bud. Can't wait to get home now and try this. TA -
DCS-BIOS F/A-18C library. Get it here!
TechRoss replied to Bullant's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Hi Andrew Funny question. The ALR-67 RWR Buttons, are Switch2Pos and seem to be latching. I figure it is probably a DCS thing, but would it be possible to get DCS-BIOS to treat these as momentary push buttons. The reason I ask, your library inspired me to build a desktop UFC, got it all printed out, found the perfect buttons, setup the code and for the life of me could not figure out why when I used them the RWR would come to life and then die again. Then I figured if I held the button it would stay on, so am assuming they are latching buttons. I really should have tested all the functions before putting the UFC together, and now I am being lazy and hoping DCS-BIOS has some functionality I could use to solve this. The other issue here in this country is actually getting the electronics to use. You have no idea how I am battling to get a encoder with a push button. Anyway I digress. Thanks, Ross -
Hi I removed everything from the Deck and set my Rescue Helo to spawn 60 seconds in, and now the Tanker spawns. EDIT: So I did as I said above and then carried on with the mission and things go a little crazy. I am attaching the mission for you to take a look at. I have not done anymore digging, but thought you might want to see this in case you can spot a bug or something (it is very possible I have done something horribly wrong as very new to ME scripting) The Tanker will spawn, then hook up to CAT1, then my Rescue Helo spawns and Carrier group starts maneuvering. It is Setup on a straight course. The Tanker then despawns and another is spawned. It moves to CAT1 and then sits for a bit, where is suddenly disappears and then spawns again and flies off the deck from the parking spot with wings still folded. Leaves at almost warp speed. Hi Thanks so much for this. These additions make the DCS World seem a little more alive. Having a problem with my Tanker, Arco Group, Late Activate from USS Stennis. If I set the Tanker to SetTakeoffAir(), it works perfectly. However if I want it to take of from the Stennis, I get a USS Stennis_Arco Group_01#001 is not alive anymore error. I thought it might be a problem with my Static objects on the Deck so I moved them all out the way and still have the same issue. Using the Dev version of MOOSE as listed above. Any ideas? Thanks, Ross

Blue73 has code in a single sketch that will detect the plane that is loaded. Unfortunately his skills are way above mine and I was not able to understand it to make it work for me. He is super helpful so maybe drop him a PM or something.

I think Lex mentioned in one of his vids, but could have been another Hornet driver, that you have to give a huge amount of forward pressure on the stick when the flaps come down. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Nope, each plane will need its own DCS-BIOS sketch. It is possible with some coding skill to have a sketch that can tell what plane you are in. As for other sims, you are out of luck, DCS-BIOS will only work with DCS planes.

Spitfire no longer overheating easily?
TechRoss replied to Kiwispirits's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I have not flown the Spit with this week's update but last week I was blowing engine no.proplem. I was actually doing a whole lot of testing on the engine flaking when to cold. I don't think the last few patches have had any Spitfire changes in them. What is your air temp? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk -
I was a Apple fanboy for many many years and switched a few years back and have used Samsung products ever since. I don't think you will have any problem reading the kind of documents you want to read on either device. If you want to use the tablet for other things, then you might have to factor that in. The only complaint I have with Samsung is both my tablet and the tablet my wife used lost their USB connector. The bloody things would not charge so are now useless. I would honestly say if you gonna use it just for reading pdf docs etc, get a cheaper brand, they all do the same thing at the end of the day.

Your best bet is to use a mod manager like OVGME to keep a copy of the files.
-
I know you just did the update but have you tried a repair? Maybe the update did not come down correctly.
-
Should be fixed with new patch today...
-
Currently not. It has been a complaint for a bit but we are not sure what the outcome will be. Maybe when we actually can align like in the real jet, who knows. Just know you are not alone :)
-
John as always just outstanding.. this is not a personal question, but how did you get your knobs so smooth ;) I know you use ABS, are you using a vapor bath. They look smooth as glass.
-
Yeah that mission confused the hell out of me the first time, was late and was not concentrating, kept doing quite well and then being told I committed fratricide, I was very confused for a bit.
-
That is neat. What is the item on the right hand. In front of your trackball in this image.

If you enjoy programming then DCS-BIOS is the way to go. (Although to get started you can get going without much codding) For what you want, and more, look at a Arduino Mega, it will give you what you are looking for and way more. The documentation is superb. The only downside is if you switch planes, you need to load up the sketch for that plane, so maybe 20 seconds extra work. For what you can do with DCS-BIOS, it is very very worth it.
