  1. That is how it is being designed
  2. Some things are already there to use, like flaps, you have FLAP Switch - AUTO/HALF, and then a second mapping FLAPS Switch - Full/Half. The Probe is another one, makes it easy to map to the LASTE 3 pos switch on the Throttle. These are specifically put in for the Warthog type of switch, but alas not all controls have been done like this. If you want to add your own, then you will need to edit the lua file. For instance, I have the Gear on the EAC switch, below the flap switch. This does not have a default binding to use as a switch. If you try to use it as is, you would have to flick it up to raise the Gear, but to lower it you will have to toggle it back down and then up again, not cool. To map that, you need to find the default.lua file in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick or where you put it DCS. Make a backup!!! Right near the top you will see a line join(res.keyCommands,{ We will put our new lines under that one. For the Gear I added the following line {down = iCommandPlaneGearUp, up = iCommandPlaneGearDown, name = _('Landing Gear Control Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick'), _('Left Vertical Panel')}}, Now of course this line is a little different to how this is normally done. But anyway, save the file, reload DCS and you should have that mapping in your control section now. I have my Hook on the RDR ALTM switch which is coded more like most the keys will be. This is the line {down = gear_commands.HookHandle, up = gear_commands.HookHandle, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Arresting Hook Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick'), _('Right Vertical Panel')}}, This should give you a Hook that works in the Up position when the RDR ALTM switch is up, when you put it to the DIS pos, down, it should drop the Hook for you. Couple things, notice at the end of each line is the comma, don't miss it out or it will break. When there is an update, you will have to add the lines back, do this before you start the game up after the update or you might have to map those keys again. In the DCS Options, under Misc, check the Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start. Sometimes DCS forget there controls and they seem like they are not working, this helps with that, but keep an eye on the switch, if you switch it in game and it does not switch, toggle it again, them DCS will remember it for a while. I hope this help, and is actually what you were looking for. If you are looking to do more switches, let me know, I have a few done and I can try point you in the right direction on how to do you own. Ross
  3. Not sure if anybody mentioned this yet, but for some reason DCS will map certain keys to all your controller at first. So you go into the control section and you will see something like pitch assigned to your throttle, your stick, your rudder pedals and even your MFDs if you have. It is quite strange. One of the things it seems to add is views. Best bet is when you go into controls, make sure that you only assign one thing to each item, so if you are doing trim, scan across the list of devices and make sure it is not in any of the other columns. Hope that makes sense... when you see it you will know what I mean. Good luck, not get put off, it really is worth getting back into the sim, it is fantastic at the moment and only getting better.
  4. Are you resetting your FCS before flight?
  5. Awesome video. Fantastic setup. Always wondered what it is like spending 5 or so hours flying with that headset on. You just loose track if the real world. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  6. Good luck with this, I am sure it will be a great addition to your simming. I to and working on a "desktop UFC" for my Hornet but an lucky enough to have a 3D printer. When the design is done, hopefully will share it... I am designing it to fit between 2 Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs.
  7. Maybe post one of the missions and we can see what happens on our systems. I have not had any problems with the Hornet in my ME.
  8. I don't think you will get a stick that matches closely to both the F18 and the F14. The F14 stick is quite different. The Warthog HOTAS setup is great, yeah it costs but it s a good bit of kit that will last. Remember that there are many modules you will fly, even if you think you just gonna stick with one, no chance, you will get more, so get what you can afford, what will last and just set it up the way you like. On the Warthog setup, I still have spare switches and buttons on both the throttle and the stick and have most everything I need mapped, so it is great and works like a treat.
  9. Yeah the Fuel dump has been behaving a little funny for a while now. Just remember to toggle it properly or you kinda end up going for a swim.
  10. Isn't that the green light the comes on when the APU is up and running? I would assume so. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  11. I find modified default.lua works really nicely and you don't have to mess with TARGET. The Hornet doesn't actually need to much binding for things you need at your fingertips all the time.
  12. Chuck as always has a super manual to get you going - https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs-spitfire-lf-mk-ix/
  13. In the Stickies above there are 3 good essays about controlling the Spit. She is a eal bitch on the ground. The read did help understand a few things a little better.
  14. Was just coming in here to say I got around it doing that.. thanks.
  15. Hey Guys Just purchased the Harrier on the sale and trying to setup my controllers. I use the TM Warthog. I can go into the Controls and start setting up my buttons etc, but when I press Ok I get a black screen and DCS just sits there. Tested with my other planes and no problem. I am seeing this in the Log - ALERT LUACOMMON: Error: GUI Error: [string "./Scripts/Input\Data.lua"]:1747: attempt to index local 'defaultCommand' (a nil value) I did do a repair and still no luck. Any ideas? Edit: Figured out away around this, went into free flight and started setting up the Controls from the Esc menu. This has no let me assign controls.
  16. Not sure about your question but I can't see any changes to the Spit at all.
  17. The G was there for a couple weeks but was removed. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  18. I have to agree, there is no point going onto Burning Skies if you are gonna fly the spit. I thought I would take a beating because I am a noob but it is just impossible. There is nothing you can do against the 109. Don't get me wrong, I love the Spitfire we have, and can spend ages just flying her around but there is no way I could fight in it. Can't even practice in it with the AI, again they just have unlimited power and you can not chase them down. So I can turn faster, makes no difference when all the 109 does is zoom and boom you and if you do get behind it, it leaves you like you are standing still.
  19. Yeah I got Normandy and the assets pack on the sale but boss, I mean wife, I making wait till Christmas to have them. What time do you fly? I am GMT +2 and think a wingman would help a lot against those German planes. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  20. I think you may be missing some startup steps. When you engine are running, put flaps up, press master reset, the FCS reset. Run you bit test. When test complete, set flaps half and press TO trim. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  21. Wow so today I flew about 5 hours on the Burning Sky Server. Got my ass handed to me time after time. Those 109s are just so powerful, I see them, I try to evade they kill me. At least I am getting tons of start up, taxi and take off practice. Any of you guys flying on this server, maybe in the GMT time zone? I could sure use a wingman in there.
  22. Did you see Wag's latest post on this. They are going to provide an option that you can slew without the depress. Not accurate to our gen Hornet but only way they can solve it. Apparently quite a bit of code so might not be in this weeks patch.
  23. You could edit the CM lua file and then you don't have to keep remembering to set them up and it passes IC. The file is CMDS_ALE47.lua in D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\TEWS\device
  24. The one problem with this is the you want a flat surface to print from, so having a peg section can be problematic. In 3D printing you ideally want a flat surface on the bed, well you really have to have one and then remember that anything with a overhang of say more than 40 degrees has to be supported in some way. You can not print something just hanging in the air if that makes sense. (There are ways around this, but not simple and can affect the print quality)
  25. This might bea good start - http://www.476vfightergroup.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=486 I know how you feel with the Hog vs SAMs, I actually got so frustrated I hardly fly the A-10 anymore.
