  1. So I play a multitude of flight sims and combat sims ranging from MS Flight Sim X to Falcon 4 and all of its flavors(open falcon, free falcon). I do not own a TrackIR and can play those other sims without a problem. Seeing as how this game only seems to utilize a 3d cockpit with no 2d cockpit, is this game playable without a TrackIR?
  2. Bah, I am all sorts of confused now. I play ArmA 2 and that game ran 10 times better on XP than it did with vista 64 bit.... Which would make a lot of what you said un true, heh. Though I am not calling you a liar, I dont see why it would run better on XP.
  3. Do I have to run Vista 64bit, or can I get away with Vista 32bit? I wasnt to fond of 64bit.
  4. I tried running it on vista 64bit and didnt seem to do much justice.
  5. So I've got this gem of a game and figured I would be able to run it on HIGH settings with a stable frame rate, though that isnt the case. When on the ground its horrible, and in the air isnt much better (slightly better, but not worth mentioning as an improvement). Here are my specs: AMD Phenom 9600 2.30Ghz Quad-Core 4GB DDR2 XMS Corsair RAM Nvidia 9800GTX+ Windows XP (SP3) If that isnt a good enough system to run high settings, then what particular settings can I turn down to normal/medium in order to keep the game looking good and get it to run better.
  6. My drivers are all up to date, I always run in full screen. and I have used both affinity scripts, as well as changing the affinity my self. No luck. P.S. I can run FSX (which is 100 times more graphically intense) with 45 - 50fps constantly.
  7. I'll start by listing my NEW computers specs. Then describe my issue. -- AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core 2.3Ghz 4gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 RAM Nvidia 9800GTX+ -- So I figure I could run the game on high with these settings, seeings as how DCS games have never made their primary focus "graphics" but more so the gameplay, and realism. When I am in the cockpit and looking straight ahead (center view I guess), on the ground, I get like 14fps! However, when I look down so there is no outside stuff showing, only cockpit switches and what not, I get up in the 50fps range...... Any tips/Advice?
  8. Is the "XFX GeForce 8800GT 512mb" card better than the "Nvidia 9500GT 1gb" ?? They are roughly the same price, and I made the mistake of buying the 9500GT thinking it would be a gamer card, then found out I was wrong. So do you guys think the 8800GT would outperform the 9500GT?
  9. Almost here...If I had done a little more research when building this PC. Grrr I was on a budget and picked up the Nvidia 1GB 9500GT dont get much for frames :( the CPU and RAM are good with a quad core 2.4ghz and 4gb ddr2 ram...but my video card is lacking.
  10. dang, sounds like I need a new video card... I just bought this one too :(
  11. So sitting on the ground I get about 10 - 12 fps and then once in the air I get about 20fps or so. I am running on high settings. Specs: AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core 2.3ghz 4gb Corsair ZXM RAM 1GB Nvidia 9500GT Surely I should be getting better frame rates than this right ? And is there any ways to improve it ?
  12. Ah nice. I just tried it. I had no problem being able to alt+tab back and forth.
  13. Specs: 2.4ghz phenom quad-core CPU 4gb 800mhz DDR2 MEMORY Nvidia 1GB 9500GT VIDEO SATA 500GB HDD OS: 64bit Vista -- That aside, how do I manually set up this afinity thing? my understanding of it is setting up the game to run on all 4 cores. How can I go about doing this ? P.S. I have seen some posted .cmd scripts and such but I wanted to do it manually without using someones pre compiled script.
  14. how do you manually do this "afinity" thing ?
  15. yeah I suppose. I figured I'd let it ride out and maybe stop on the last 1ft of runway :)
  16. So I was out and about killin some infantry in a mission I made. Just practicing my skills and what not. Then I decided I would try a rolling landing. Seeings as how I have never done one, nore have I seen the video tutorials on how to yet. I figured it would be an epic fail moment for me. I brought it in like a plane, but slower obviously and wow, it was PERFECT. Center line and everything. Looked beautiful. I even went to replay to watch it from outside view. Then I turned noob...... I touched down, all went well, was rollin down the runway...Then I remembered I had remapped my keys and completely forgot where the brake was. Needless to say, I rolled right off the runway. haha. Anyways, thought I would share that with you all. Finally kinda/sorta getting the hang of hovering, and trim btw. (For those of you who have been following my posts, and putting up with me)
  17. Um Vista isnt just an OS for "DCS Black Shark"
  18. can you confirm the proper sequence to set the trim, and how to neturalize it?
  19. Awesome. sounds like I should give these a try then. Also, what are the i7 versions of the 4core and 8core cmd's ?
  20. Alright so you pitch it forward to where you want it. HOLD down "T" then release the cyclic, and release "T" after that.... or Pitch it forward to where you want it. HOLD down "T" then release "T", and then release the cyclic sounds like he did it two diff ways based on what he was saying. Also how do you "neurtralize" the trim?
  21. I think I got it down, just run which ever .cmd file suits me from the install dir? in my case "DSCAff_4core__SP.cmd" if for some reason I dont like it...can I run the original .exe files? also what is the "DSCAff_4core_i7_SP.cmd" version of it?
  22. oh duh, ugh I keep getting the two messed up, lol well I suppose I'll keep practicing but it keeps nose diving me when I pitch nose up, hit "T" then release my stick.
  23. So if I install these .bat files to my folder and run them and find out I dont like them for some reason, can I still run the normal .exe files the game installs with ?
  24. hmmm so by center cyclic do you mean bring it back to idle (all the way down) or what ?
  25. Could you explain to me how to use it? I dont wanna read 7 pages of posts on that link if its not neccessary. I have a quad core 64bit vista system....
