Hello, I just flew in the 1.5 AO server and tested this. Usual steps as listed and center smoke turned on just fine. What version and mission are you using?

Helios not displaying profile

Sometimes Helios profiles get porked. That is one thing I don't like about it. You can try renaming your bak file to see if that helps. -
SAI has always been quirky (as in unfit for flight IMHO). :)

When you do reset monitors, there should be a way to set Monitor X = Monitor X try clicking on the numbers. I know I had to set mine like 1234 equals 3124 The day after I uninstall it... ha! Memory is gone. Ikarus is actually pretty good. -
Hi, Arm power is on center console, top/left switch. It needs to be ON. Joystick trigger safetly is turned off. Trigger toggles smoke. You must have a minimum airspeed of 400 metric in order for it to work. (I am unsure of exact airspeed required.

Hi Micha, I appreciate you letting me give feedback here. I enjoy experimenting with this. :) My setup is pretty unique. I use Ikarus for only outputs. Gauges for now and LED/ 7 segment outputs when I get my Arcaze cards next month. I am looking at a near life-sized view of DCS, but cockpit is hidden by my portrait, landscape, portrait monitor configuration. 4080x1920 DCS, 6000x1920 Windows. 1.5 DCS is affected by the config.lua change, but not 2.0. config.lua set to false. mirror on - 88 fps mirror off - 105 config set to true: mirror on - 4X-5X mirror off - 5X-6X It's not just a number either, it is noticeable by eye as soon as the auto zoom in takes place when entering cockpit. I'm glad your numbers are OK and it is just me. I will say I've never seen such good DCS performance (with gauges). I'm very, very happy.

I went through this in an earlier update. My great 1.5 performance took a dive after an update, even while reading of other people getting good results with that update. My DCS build was about a year old and had many backup folders. I finally said "what the heck" and uninstalled and did a clean install. I was literally amazed at the result. I don't know why it helped, but it did. I redid both versions as they share files when installing. I can assure you that the latest update gets good performance. I've seen both sides of the coin, and I hope you get your setup fixed up.

Deactivating modules is pretty easy in the module manager, much easier than the alternatives you are bringing up.. I used to consider 1.5 performance bad. After a clean install and some tweaking, I see it is actually much smoother than 2.0.

No, I'm sorry if I was OT. My card is an old Titan. My point is: you never know unless you try, and trying many different things has helped me a lot in DCS.

Hello, Here is what I think about release notes: They never, ever contain anything about DCS. I'll give the new drivers a try. It is easy to clean and restore back to my favorite 368.81 if I don't see any gains. Getting best performance in DCS means trying out new things. I've doubled my FPS by doing so.

Hello cichlidfan, I just uninstalled Helios, so I am going on memory here. You have verified that Helios monitor #X equals Windows monitor #X, in reset monitors? -
A warning about pushbutton encoders
JG14_Smil replied to Braeden108's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I usually use these: http://www.allelectronics.com/item/re-30/30-detent-rotary-encoder-with-switch/1.html I think they are Alps. I forget which type I defined them as but they work pretty well. There are some QC clunkers, so I buy a couple extra. Oh! Never trust a power supply polarity. I bought one that was labeled backwards. Use that meter. :) -
Hello, Please note that in 1.5 DCS and using Ikarus with my L-39, I was able to almost double my FPS by editing a line in the following file: C:\Users\CS\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\DCS-ExportScript\config.lua -- Ikarus and D.A.C. can data send ExportScript.Config.Listener = true -- false for not use ExportScript.Config.ListenerPort = 26027 -- Listener Port for D.A.C. Setting this to "false" gave a big increase in the FPS. It is only needed of using Arcaze controllers. If yours is false by default, disregard this. The gauges work fine without this enabled.

Hello Ciribob, I wanted to thank you for SRS and share my pleasantly strange experience with it. I have a very unique cockpit setup. It is multi monitor, external gauges with Ikarus, and I have vibrations working through exports. I decided to add SRS to my setup. First thing I notice is my Ikarus gauges became choppier in performance. More similar to a Helios gauge in performance. I was put-off at first by this and then did testing to see if I could stop it. As I did my testing, I noticed that my DCS performance was smoother than I had ever seen it. I attributed this to O/C'ing my graphics card, but I then noted the poorer performance would return (please note "poorer" is still very good!). I could not believe my eyes when I finally figured out what was going on, but I just sat down and verified it... DCS without SRS (AO 1.5 server, L-39 cold A/C), 37-54 fps. DCS with SRS running overlay on my Ikraus gauge panel, same server, minutes after first test. 71 fps. I can repeat it every time and it is just amazing. I am running a life-size multi monitor setup with better performance than many get with one monitor. AO server, at maximum player numbers, smooth. I actually saw triple digit fps. The slightly choppier gauges are worth it and I'll never fly without SRS again. DONT... CHANGE... ANYTHING! :)

I have a better explanation yet... It's bugged. Different planes give different altitude values, even if the standard *should* be the same. F10 values don't match altimeters either. I detest QFE, but I believe it is needed to place objects in DCS at ground level. Setting a gauge to a variable and not a baseline defies logic.

New Pilot Question About Multiple Monitors
JG14_Smil replied to Razorwalker's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Note: DCS only has to extend onto the extra monitor if you are exporting a viewport from DCS. For example, I have four monitors, DCS uses 4080 of my 6000 possible desktop pixels in my L-39 setup. The Blackshark setup needs all 6000 pixels for the ABRIS and such. -

Hi. Main Panel, Pos X , Pos Y, set your numbers, transmit, save profile, close/show profile. -
Algeria is a long swim. :)

Thanks very much Ramsay. Much higher than I expected.

Hello to all, I have been tuning the tactile feedback vibrations in my seat and I have been looking for info with no luck as of yet. I was wondering the approximate RPM range of the turbofan engine in the L-39.

Try deleting saved games folder and let DCS rebuild them. I've had updates make my system worse before. If it is an old build consider a new install. I did this and was amazed at the improvements in DCS. Try the folders first.

Hello Kaliphtan, If you only see two AP lights, you forgot something in the startup. It has been so long for me I forget which, but I think it is the generator or throttle.

I am on a roll, so.. How to fix a missing lamp export in Ikarus ========================== Lamps are added from a list. If you don't see your lamp listed, you can add it. You need just Notepad++. You edit the xxxx.xml file that is associated with your xxxx.ikarus file with Notepad++. Find and copy the following chunck of code: (it can come from anywhere in the file. It does not need to match this exact example.) <DCS_ID> <ExportID>63</ExportID> <Description>RV-5 DangerRALT</Description> <ExportIDWithDescription>63 - RV-5 DangerRALT</ExportIDWithDescription> <Type>Lamp</Type> </DCS_ID> You will paste in a copy directly under the code you copied. <DCS_ID> <ExportID>63</ExportID> <Description>RV-5 DangerRALT</Description> <ExportIDWithDescription>63 - RV-5 DangerRALT</ExportIDWithDescription> <Type>Lamp</Type> </DCS_ID> <DCS_ID> <ExportID>29</ExportID> <Description>KPP_Arretir</Description> <ExportIDWithDescription>29 - KPP_Arretir</ExportIDWithDescription> <Type>Lamp</Type> </DCS_ID> Note edited red text changes. I found the DCS export ID and name in the following file: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\L-39C\Cockpit\Devices_specs\MainPanel\lamps.lua Saving the xxxx.xml file will now allow you to choose the KPP_Arretir from the list and it can now be used in your profile. It will even work. :) Be sure to make a backup of your xxxx.ikarus and xxxx.xml in a safe location so it won't be over-written in an update.

Hello, Landing light is also near useless (facetious alert). Landing in the dark stays dark until practically on the ground. The light would be a bit more useful if aimed higher.

One more huge issue about Ikarus: Ikarus its setup to auto load a profile when a plane is entered. This is a very good thing and works perfectly, once all profiles are setup. However, there needs to be a way to "set as default" in a profile. When I enter a L-39C, Ikarus loads "L-39C.ikarus" (and the associated L39C.xml). Lets say I edit this file and get it just the way I like. You post an update and my work gets over-written. Unacceptable. I do a "Save as" and create a custom profile. It saves a L39C_custom.ikarus file, but it does not save an associated xml file. You cant add custom items to your file without an associated xml file, so I copy/paste the original L39C.xml and rename it to L39C_custom.xml. I can now edit items to my profile properly. Yay! excellent! I start DCS and enter a L-39C. Ikarus loads the original L39C files, not my custom profile. ^%#$%$#! To get around this, I delete the original L39C.ikarus file. My custom profile loads when I start the DCS L-39C. Perfect. If I move the original L39C.ikarus file back to the folder, the DCS L-39C defaults back to the incorrect Ikarus profile again. The way Ikarus is setup, you're expecting everyone to use the exact same file name. --- other side of coin ---- You need to update the xml files to add new code and features to Ikarus, so renaming the custom xml file would need to be done after each update. This is why you need people to use the exact filenames. If you could add a routine to set a profile as default, while it still can be renamed and associated with the original xml file, this would be a great addition.
