  1. Man, stop digging that hole or ask a good friend to take that shovel away from you:) , Snappy
  2. Nothing, not willing to throw any more money at ED until actually seeing significant improvements&bug fixing to core, chiefly A.I. and its fm , as well as other stuff thats been broken for years. Still thankful for ED giving us a long free tryout , most helpful for deciding what to buy when the above-mentionend problems are dealt with.
  3. Well I hope that A.I. behavior gets a major overhaul soon, along with the A.I. flight models, as it really is in an awful state and has been for a long time.Really disappointing for a simulator that supposedly mainly caters to its single player majority of customers. Really dont get why this isn‘t given much higher priority.. Regards, Snappy
  4. Plus unfortunately, DCS lags badly behind in A.I. behavior too. Really hope this area gets a huge improvement soon , as it‘s really in a decrepit state. Most of the competition is way ahead in that regard. Snappy
  5. Re the EW modelling , yes it‘s bad, however you can fantasize all you want about late 90s /early 2000 jamming and EW technology it‘s likely not going to happen in any realistic fashion. My personal opinion is, DCS would be much better / realistic if ED focused heavily on a late 60s/70s/max early 80s cold war era. A lot of things could be somewhat better simulated as more information about the technology is available, plus(again personal opinion) its a more interesting and challenging environment. But I understand a lot of people want to fly the newest shiny toys and those will sell better, even if certain important aspects are pure guesswork at best or badly simulated at worst. As for the F-14 in A2A, it has its strength and weaknesses like most other aircraft. Regards, Snappy
  6. Yea, I was wondering the same whether the US Navy -A variant would also be that bare bone? I thought we‘d have at least TCS again. Regards, Snappy
  7. That explains why most respectable Air Forces (also including Navy) even in today's age of ever looming budget cuts still place so much emphasis on it and train their pilots for it despite all the costs in maintenance, fuel and airframes. Regards, Snappy
  8. Cobra, very sorry to hear about your ill family member. Don't worry about the DCS stuff . Wishing all the best and a speedy recovery for your family member! Kind regards, Snappy
  9. That may or may not part of the reason for the issues with core, but there are others if you ask me. Certainly not least of them is the spaghetti code situation we have now and honestly, I dont know if that can be fixed no matter how much money you throw at it. Ok , if you assume the money would be used for a complete rewrite from zero , fine, then I 'm willing to pay a one off payment. Another thing is ED focus on things. They could ve set up a lot of things differently from the get-go or at least focused on certain aspects along the road. But some Issues and bugs have languished for years and no one seems to care.Or maybe new ones pop up faster than the old ones can be adressed. The A.I system alone has been broken for so long and even now, according to their latest published timelines, its still in the far future category. Honestly for a sim that supposedly is mainly driven by its singleplayer base , I have trouble getting that logic. But of course its easier to monday-morning quarter back than to get that stuff done, however right now I've lost trust in EDs ability to turn things around and will not be throwing money at them monthly because I'm not really convinced that will make things turn out differently. Regards, Snappy
  10. You could already do that with the Mirage 2000 , which is an even older,non-canard delta wing design and still has a very impressive first turn and point capability, which btw also depletes all of it’s energy instantly. Really don‘t know what kind of people you usually fly against.. Anyway , you can be sure an even newer fighter design with canards and more engine power and newer fbw will certainly not perform worse.. That the F-22 and F-35 have no delta wings has other reasons too. You have to ask yourself, why the EF, the Rafale and the Gripen (all very agile aircraft) which were designed much later than your beloved Hornet and certainly with the advances in missiles and A/A tactics in mind during design, all use the delta wing plus canards , if it is such a flawed design? Regards Snappy
  11. I honestly don't know what you re talking about?? The Eurofighter is a newer aircraft AND design than the Hornet, yet you somehow claim the hornet was designed in the all-aspect era?Do some reading pls,the hornet had its first flight in 78..if anything it is the other way around. That the viper underperforms in DCS is another topic and has not exactly to do with the "superiority" of the Hornet.
  12. Possible ,yes, but expect the realism-crowd to get their pitchforks out for that one as well. Because why would a modern air force artificially limit themselves in regards to bringing only a handful of their most effective tools for the job? Especially if that air force wants to "win" which would always be the aim. Snappy
  13. I'm not necessarily advocating balancing, but it will reach a point where MP will face some issues for sure, unless we re talking about PVE. Probably the "balancing" will regulate itself. As it stands now, Red is already at a disadvantage due to a technological lag (which might be considered realistic, who am I to say) , that can still be compensated somewhat by tactics and skill. However I guess there is point where the technological dominance will become so massive (likely with the EF2000s introduction ) that it just doesn't make sense anymore to fly red aircraft , unless you have a somewhat masochistic streak or limit yourself to pre- 1980 (random number ) planes on both sides. Because who enjoys being shot down time after time?Really thats what to have to ask yourself.Who does? I get the whole realism thing (though its somewhat ridiculous considering other aspects of DCS) , but you can work yourself up about that for weeks, in the end ppl still simply want to have fun / enjoy themselves with DCS and with few exception getting killed 99.9% of the time is not fun after a while. So I guess at this point most ppl will choose a capable aircraft for the job , which will mean a match up between blue vs blue aircraft, or let's make that " western/euopean" So we will see less and less ppl flying "modern" red side aircraft, they 're already a minority now. balancing problem solved, it'll simply be blue on blue in the future. regards, Snappy
  14. Ok got it, no problem. Just wanted to confirm, that the bug still exists. Regards, Snappy
  15. What do you mean, its fixed? Was there an update? Its still not working on my system. When you check the special options tab for AOA , it still doesn't display.. Regards, Snappy
  16. Wittiest comment I 've read in a long while here;) Made me smile, thanks man. Regards, Snappy
  17. Oh you're right. I retract my statement :) Regards, Snappy
  18. Maybe its simply an A.I. model?Doesn't look very detailed.
  19. Wow, this statement is quite wrong ..It may be your personal opinion, but its definitely not true in absolute terms. Did you even think as far as that there are players who do not want to spend 80+ $ per year for new modules? Not because they don't like to play DCS or lack the resources. But not everyone needs or wants a shiny new module every few months. Some are happy with what they got module-wise . So why should these players pay for something that they don't need or want?! Especially from you, since you mentioned that you haven't bought any more new modules after your disappointment in the last ones you bought. Why you would still be willing to sink 120$ into a subscription under these circumstances is totally beyond me.. Somehow you seem to think a subscription model would be the magical cure to DCS's problems. Well I think it wouldn't . Personally I 'm not too happy how ED is handling and approaching many things and not all of them are due to financial restrictions they may or may not have. They had lots of options to change/ focus on certain things at points and didn't for whatever reasons. That's ok, their trainset, But if you think the EA problem issues or core deficiencies will magically disappear , just because you pay a monthly fee now, I think you' re severely mistaken.Because it would require ED to radically change their mindset and I don't see that happening. That I would find super frustrating, putting more money into this and still getting not what I want from it. Besides, the Issues DCS faces now are of a scale that can't be fixed in a month or two. Even if they got additional income from subscriptions (it would be likely less than you think) it would take at least maybe a year to tackle the most important ones. And lots of ppl will simply skip and aim to join afterwards, once things are fixed, they'll just keep playing their last free/classically bought version & modules. Then that subscription -> more developement cycle comes to screeching halt..This "transition period" to a "better" sim is a huge issue in itself. If you are thinking ppl will not pay 80$ but, at the same time apparently think they are unable to add up in their head 12x100=120$ for a still sub-par product... hmm Don't know what to say.. So is subscription better for you? maybe. For everyone, no. BTW , DCS doesn't feel like a service to me. It feels hampered , if not even buggy at times. Still provides fun , though. But given the way ED handles things and the way they choose what they focus on, no I probably won't spend more money on it , until that changes, if it ever does. Regards, Snappy
  20. You can also tell him with about 3 or 4 quick key strokes to shut the f up. :) . I think twice "A" then 8 and 2 . Takes about 2 seconds max. Haven't done it for a while now as I enjoy his jabberings ocasionally , helpful too Regards, Snappy
  21. Do you offer online tutoring or speeches for conserving ones optimism? I would like to suscribe :) Snappy
  22. OK got it, thank you all for chiming in and especially you Zeus for providing even an official reply.Nice to see the Mirage slowly getting ever more accurate compared to the real aircraft of the AdA But still a good move to have it available as special option! Kind regards, Snappy
  23. Hi , after the latest update that included the adA changes the HUD no longer displays AOA value in the close combat modes, but that change is not listed under „display changes“ in the DECOY post about the upcoming changes. So is this a bug or changed intentionally to reflect the real aircraft HUD? Regards, Snappy
  24. Maybe they will also model flap asymmetries if flaps extension is performed at too high speed.Uncommanded roll should certainly cause some ppl to rethink their approach to flap exploitation. Regards, Snappy
  25. Finished Mirage with unbugged radar.
