  1. I'd also say buy them both. Have played LockOn since it came out way back and bought Flaming Cliffs recently ($14.95 is an absolute bargain on http://www.lockon.co.uk). Been on DCS Black Shark since december last year as well and I can't imagine my life without these two sims =)
  2. Great stuff, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!
  3. Hi! Does anyone know if it is possible to have 1.02 and 1.12b installed at the same time? A couple of my friends don't have Flaming Cliffs and I enjoy playing multiplayer with them ocassionaly. Thanks, I tried searching but to no avail.
  4. Hi You're going to love Black Shark I'm sure. 1. Yes it is possible to host your own server, be it on the internet or in a LAN 2. No, unfortunately you have to have separate copies to play together. In fact, I think you'd be breaking the licence if you try to start two copies of the game running on the same serial simultaneously.
  5. I really liked it so far. Only played the first mission but it's looking very good. A clear and definite comeback to LockOn for me again, love it! Thanks! Love the extra mission briefings in the pdf edit: i tried in LockOn 1.02 btw, just in case someone else maybe tried it in 1.12b?
  6. Ooo I'd love to get involved in this hobby project. I'm waiting for my X52 Pro and I've been thinking about producing something to display the RCtrl+Enter thingy for checking your trim on the small MFD. Maybe we could crack this one together in a couple of weeks when I've gotten aquainted with my X52 Pro? Unfortunately I do not know how to interface the MFD to the game information yet. Maybe someone else knows?
  7. This thread is becoming arduous to read through so this has probably been posted before, but here it is anyway http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=be5_1247196550 A time-lapse video of a hornet being built. I enjoyed it.
  8. I'd think I would really appreciate a full blown, 3D cockpit, all out simulation of brute mechas =) Maybe I'm dreaming here, but hey, dreaming is fun.
  9. Hi everyone I've always been with the people thinking that this thing with activations isn't really that bad. I mean, it's no big deal really. I'll never need to reactivate or loose activations, why would I? I never reinstall windows, I very seldom add hardware to my computer and I'm always very careful when I do, backing up stuff and taking care to preserve my precious activations. But I must say I'm getting nervous about loosing the ability to play my favourite game right now. Since bying Black Shark I've had two harddrive crashes (system harddrive, if loosing data wasn't enough) and I lost one activation on a malfunctioning windows installation and now just yesterday came the most ridicoulus thing: I reinstalled my malfunctioning drivers for my USB Bluetooth adapter. Nothing else has been added, removed or otherwise changed on my computer. Guess if I was stomped to see Black Shark asking for ANOTHER of my precious activations to get running! This shouldn't be happening!! I didn't remove anything, I just reinstalled a device that has been installed on my computer since long before the day I got Black Shark. I currently down to only 4 activations left and I'm frankly beginning to worry whether I'll loose the ability to play this game some day down the line. Sorry for the long rant but my attitude towards activations of this kind is changing day by day now.
  10. Hi guys Just wanted to start a new thread here to properly salute DCS Black Shark in all its multiplayer glory. I just had an amazing online game on one of the dedicated servers available to us lowly once-every-now-and-then-gamers. Several players came together, tried their best to communicate their efforts over the chat (since no teamspeak server was known to us) and coordinate our work at decimating the resistance. This game has very few online sim fans that are regular visitors to these servers (or at least that what I've experienced). I'd love to be able to get online more frequently but real life isn't kind on the time investment required to fully enjoy online gaming of this kind. Online gaming with DCS rocks totally and I'm looking forward to seeing more of you guys online during this summer (and my vacation=)). Lets hope for rainy days see you out there
  11. I'm kind of resurrecting this oldie once again with my current plans on maybe getting a X52 Pro and I'm interested in displaying the RCTRL+Enter trim stuff on it. Anyone think this might be possible? Got some programming experience and don't give up easily, but if no one thinks it's worth a try I'll just don't do it.
  12. I don't agree. Try pressing esc and moving your mouse so that you see it on-screen. Then press esc again, now your mouse cursor should be right where you put it earlier
  13. I think it's all an artifact of the well-known mouselook/mouseclick bug/feature. It works very well for me just scrolling the mouse over it after disabling the annoying bug.
  14. Unfortunately I'm working out of town for the entire summer and don't have my computer with my saved tracks here with me. Maybe it was more like <100 sec rather than ~90, can't remember exactly. I timed my liftoff using the FPS-counter-feature in BS and thus started counting directly from pressing Pause/Break to unpause the simulation and stopped the timer when I got "Flight" on the EKRAN. As far as I can remember I only flipped the battery switches, instantly flipped the fuel pumps and then brought up the APU, during the start of that I flipped the shutoff and cutoff and EEG for the other engines and brought them online one by one, only I didn't wait for the first to go to full idle (began starting the other ~60% instead of the regular 70+ or what it is). All other systems where started in flight later on. I surely forgot something in the procedure now because I'm a bit stressed to get off to work =) Catch you later
  15. I've experimented a bit with speeding up the startup procedure and I've managed to get down to around 90sec if you really only start the systems necessary for spooling up the engines and getting the bird aloft. The rest of the equipment can be started enroute ;) Here I was thinking it was dreadfully slow because I was aiming at that 45sec blindfolded =) Guess this is nowhere near possible IRL though...
  16. Bummer thanks for the replies though! =)
  17. I've a question! Will this "extended manual" be available to download customers as downloadable PDF or are we just fine with the, although extensive, shorter manual?
  18. My, what a lot of responses I'm not saying it is a bad review or that it is even a bad thing for anyone. Just saying I didn't enjoy it as much as maybe some others here did. =D Just like I enjoy crashing my Black Shark occasionally where (I guess) everyone else try to stay out of the ground ;)
  19. I'd like to voice my opinion that this "review" is more Ed Macy-promotion (Oh he knows so much about helicopters and you'd love to read his books) than it is an actual review of Black Shark. This is not the very great review everyone is claiming it is... But this is of course my humble opinion and I do not dislike any of you for thinking otherwise =) Peace
  20. Looks neat I wonder if they mean USD on xataka.com? That's $300 american...
  21. This discussion is barely a couple of weeks old, but I guess it applies mostly to a couple of countries http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=41386
  22. Try pressing the trim button when you're at your desired heading?
  23. Hey guys, it is very possible to fly with a keyboard only. It's a bit more of a mess controlling the collective, but still very doable! In this post I show a track with me lifting off, flying a small stretch and then coming back to land in full realism(!) using only my keyboard (didn't even have my stick connected when I did this). http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=687488&postcount=16 You might want to fast forward all the boring parts with me doing a lame start up sequence probably full of errors after almost two months without flying!) About the OP's question about the trim it's very easy: the keys maneuver the joystick position and when you stop holding down the key it just stops there, sitting nicely trimmed where you left it (within reason). As for rudder it does not trim though, so you have to keep playing with the keys if there are strong winds about.
  24. I guess you've experienced the famed Vortex Ring State where you get trapped in your own downwards-flowing air, crippling your lift and thus you begin to fall.
  25. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31052 Isn't this lovely? Anyone else thinking a forward-port of the flight models from LOMAC to DCS to enable a whole lot of nice fastmovers in combination with freshly community made 3D cockpits? Great news to all pit-builders as well it seems. Lets hope for the best and best wishes to you ED! edit: sorry for the misprint in the heading guys =/. And I originally planned it to say "DCS 3rd Party Support Packages". Ah well. Let the discussion begin!
