[REPORTED] Huey Door gunners broken since 20190213 patch (Open Beta)
Frag replied to NastyFruit's topic in Bugs and Problems
I saw a Huey door gunner opening fire today in a mission of mine, but it was a AI Huey. Are you saying the gunner wont open fire when you are piloting yourself? -
Patiently waiting for it to reach the stable branch :) Don't ask why, it was love at first sight. The more I play DCS, the more I tend to hook to older aircraft. They are SO rewarding when you get full confidence operating those. You do the work ... not a computer.

I would bet my own sister that the Vietnam map would beat the sale of the Dubai's one in few weeks after its release. If I had a dime every time I read about people wanting a Vietnam map ... I would be out of misery. This conflict is by far the most well known war after WWII.

Hi guys, who of you finished the F-5E Aggressor BFM campaign? Wow this is a tough one. I WAS considering myself quite proficient with the F5, but the second mission is already quite a challenge! You need to win 3 gun only dogfight ... 5 minutes MAX each. Could not do better than one kill out of 3 so far. Are all the missions that tough!?
-
I am using the F5 90% of the time and I am a mission editor freak. Never seen such an issue, but I am playing on the stable branch. For sure you have some corruption of some sort. Sorry cant help here.
-
Yeah I want her too ... I will wait for few weeks for her to stabilize in the stable build. Then I will be all over her! She will show up eventually on the server. It is quite new, it will take few weeks to start showing around. But she will!!!

To partially answer your question, you will not always see all the weapons in the mission editor loadout. It depends of the TASK you give to your aircraft (the property in the AIRPLANE GROUP). By example, if you set the "SEAD" task, then you will get the SEAD missile AGM-45. I used those a lot recently. They are a blast to use and fun ...since they can be tease and hit few meters from the target. They are not instant kill, which is cool and realistic from what I read. -

That would indeed make a LOT of sense. Thanks for the explanation guys! Always nice to understand why things were designed in a certain way! -
Very well explained SUNTAG. This is a pure gold ... I am used to the editor so I followed you well in every steps of it ...just one question remains. Why do you have to AI Start Push the command twice for every aircraft? 1. You do it in the ACTION part of the trigger 2 seconds after the pilot reached the zone. 2. And you also do it in the "propeller" section of the aircraft that will probably be executed when the aircraft airframe is activated. Just not get why you need to do it twice. Is it necessary to cover a DCS glitch or I am missing something? Also ... I love the pilot units. I really wonder why DCS does not offer more units like that... they are all over the place. Wonder if some could be donated to ED. Thanks to take the time man ... really appreciated!
-
Nice trick! Not that I would use it for this but I could use this one to keep the plane disabled but present until I want to activate those. Are they activated thru the "Group Activate" action like the aircraft having the "Late Activation" property selected?

Hi guys, is there a way to place static aircraft in a hangar (see attached)? Damn I wish we where able to play with X,Y,Z axis and positions of static objects to create interesting scene. Thanks in advance!

Ouffff probably saying too much about my age but .... I had this one BRAND NEW.

Ok does make sense. Thanks Heclak! -
Hi everyone, I think it is the time for the A-4 to have its own sub forum. Trying to do searches in the hundreds of pages of a single thread is getting really problematic. If a moderator read this ... do you think it would be possible to ask as such? There are so many subjects to cover about that amazing work that trying to work with a single thread is now mostly impossible. I think that the guys proved at this point that this aircraft deserve attention. I would even say to add a entry for it in the user files so we could filter on it and post missions, sounds, skins and so on. What do guys think?

Hey guys just a quick rockets question. I noticed that to fire rockets, you need to set the weapon selector to "GM UNARM" instead of "Rockets". Is it a bug or it is as designed? Just wondering... -
Can't wait to see that Syria map! Matt seems pretty excited about it! Also seems that they are quite involved in the dynamic campaign already, which is an awesome news to me!

I noticed that you get no bonus points when you buy during sale. I only got point in the past while buying at full price. Unless I miss something...

Hi guys, I had a mesmerizing 12 minutes dogfight yesterday that felt like a Hollywood movie. But that ole thing ended weirdly, bringing a question to this forum. Everything started when my wingman and I, flying F-5 Tigers, crossed the path of two Russian Mig-29 and got engaged in a hair raising dogfight. We were all fighting with guns only, no missiles in that one. Within a minute or so, my wingman got pulverized away by the powerful bogey’s 30mm canon, leaving me alone to deal with the two bandits. One F5 down. At that point, I knew I was in for a tough fight. Even though I was behind one of them when my wingman exploded out of the sky, I could not close up enough on that Mig-29 to get a firing position. We were all maneuvering in the mountainous area of the Caucasus region, having to deal with canyons and high peaks, so few seconds after my wingman death, I was still pursuing that Mig-29 while his wingman was taking position behind me! I had to act fast. I was lucky enough to tail that Mig-29 to the point where he had to do a dangerous maneuver that splat him face first in one of the mountains wall. One Mig-29 down. But at this point, his wingman was seriously threatening my ass right behind me. I quickly started to play a tight yoyo game for few minutes, not able to shake him off me. My hair rose on my arm when I saw tracers passing by me while hearing the TUMP-TUMP-TUMP of bullet hitting my fairing. I quickly realized that one of my aileron got blasted away, limiting my maneuverability significantly. But my trusty F5 did not want to give up and I was still in the fight. This is where things got funny. Few seconds after that hit, that Mig-29 passed so close behind me during one of the yoyo turn that I got scared that he would chop my tail off. I decided to do a TOP GUN trap …. CLOSED THROTTLE – AIR BRAKE – FULL FLAP …. Guess what … I exploded in laugh while he passed in front of me, seeing him struggling to slow down to stay behind. It was now my turn to be in his six and he started to loop vertically on me. Looks like Mig-29 climb rate is better than the F5 … I could not keep up with it. But I would stay in his six, but slowly pulling away. This is where thing got weird, bringing me to my question. After few vertical loops, I felt that I would never reach it. Then suddenly … like his wife would call him to go get some milk … he just gave up and started to run away in a straight line, not even at full airspeed. I was like … “WHAT THE HELL:doh:” … lined up behind me and pulverized him with my two 20mm canon. Second Mig-29 down … F5 wins. Guys, why he gave up? It was a AI aircraft, so the only thing I would think of is because he could have been bingo fuel (it was a long fight). I was very low in fuel at that point. Or maybe because the AI disengage when the fight are too long? Any idea? I have the track of that flight and intend doing a youtube clip out of it, it is quite a looker fight!

Damn you are quite dangerous with that thing!!!!!

ATC love, does it also mean taxiing?
Frag replied to Frag's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Having 4 airplanes landing at an empty airport is far from overwhelming. Looking at those ramming each other simply shows a very limited AI code and simply no time invested in fixing this. I see this all the time even with small number of aircraft. There are TONS of games around having dozens of cars racing in the streets, people walking around ...or any kind of objects moving around without hitting each other. So back to my point, this is not overwhelming to have 4 planes taxiing around without ramming each other. So my original question being.... was this acknowledge as a design issue and considered in the ATC rework? I am surely not the only one who noticed this. It is kind of a disappointment for us to design high detailed mission, for at the end of it landing back at the airfield to see 4 F-16 (who survived a huge dogfight) piled up at the airport in fire with 4 dead pilots around it. Kind of a buzz killer if you ask me. Execute the attached mission (Dubai map) - Four AI F-16 that take-off from an airfield - Land back. - No others objects ...empty airfield. They will ram each other, every time. F16 Taxi Bug.miz -
Hi guys, DCS is a great simulator ... but still can't believe how basic and bugged is the Air Traffic Control. I know that Matt said that they might give it some love after the carrier crew ... but anyone knows if they meant by ATC only the radio interaction... or also all the taxiing around? I commonly end up having a destruction derby when all the AI aircraft are landing back to base. See the attached pictures, those 2 happened during the same mission. AI LIKE to derby when landing back home. I wish they also meant cleaning the AI interaction at airfield by ATC. *** I CAN REPRODUCE EASILY, SEE ATTACHED MISSION IN POST #7 *** Very easy to reproduce. Execute the attached mission (POST #7) (Dubai map) - Four AI F-16 that take-off from an airfield - Land back. - No others objects ...empty airfield. They will ram each other, every time.

As a developer myself, I can say that I like receiving feedback from the field where people uses my stuff. Getting that feedback sometimes save hours of QA and research. The idea behind constructive criticism is to do it with taste for the product to evolve ...and not bash. Yeah Andrew's post is a very helpful one.
