  1. Hey guys as dummy as it sounds I did not find the answer to this while searching around. Does the F16 can use ADF navigation? Any links / tutorial? I would find it strange it would not since the F16 is relatively an old platform.
  2. I did not got thru all the thread pages, but is it by design that the objects are indestructible? I have a placed "USAF Agressor" Civ Police Car 1 facing a USA Hummer. The hummer's .50 gunner start firing thru the police car, but this one never seems to get hit. Also tested with a Stryker ...same issue. Just wondering
  3. Hi guys, there is an AI F5 in my mission that really like to carry a huge fuel tank forever ... even for landing. If I would like to force it to jettison that fuel tank at a waypoint. Is there a way to do it thru the editor or scripting?
  4. Bought the Gazelle and quickly noticed it was in Alpha stage ... to never be finished. Sorry but not buying a second module and risk the same ending. If the product ever finishes up and has a realistic flight model, I will reconsider. But FOR SURE ...no presale or alpha release for me. Good luck with the project guys, I love the Kiowa. Go in STRONG on that one. I recommend no early release and a quality to the level of the F-14 to build back our trust. Blow up our minds.
  5. *double post*
  6. You guys just made my day! I commonly say that sound is overlooked with many modules... but that spitfire is now REALLY something here!!! GREAT GREAT work!!!!
  7. This is actually the wall that ED will need to pass thru to be able to implement the dynamic campaign. The AI will require a FULL rewrite before being able to use it as units in the dynamic campaign. It is already mostly impossible to ask the AI to do anything basic as it is. The good news is that the day that we will see the dynamic campaign will also mean the the AI will now be really smart, which will be a very happy day for the DCS players. I personally think that ED should change the way they generate revenue (abandon the free to play model), charge more money for the release of DCS world 3.0 and go full AI/full dynamic campaign. Also I think that the AI should use the same interface as the player to fly the aircraft, therefore inheriting directly from the aircraft characteristic like the player does. As it is, when the player fly the plane, he is probably passing thru those layers. COCKPIT UI -> PLANE COCKPIT API -> CORE ENGINE THAT CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT. Would be interesting if the AI would be in fact a Pilot AI that would need to pass thru the same layers. So ... Pilot AI -> PLANE COCKPIT API -> CORE ENGINE THAT CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT It would be therefore impossible for the AI to accomplish maneuvers that cannot be done with the aircraft. It would be limited to the aircraft capabilities like the player does.
  8. What makes me nervous is that I read at some points that a single guy was working on this. ED hired him specifically for the task. However, the only news we read in months are always about new modules. Not much is shared about the world, mission tools and campaign. Briefly new modules are constantly added, but the sim still feel blend with no communications about where it is heading other than "we are planning to it at some point" which is mostly the answer about all desirable features in the sim. We have no clue about what is currently under work (other than new modules, including the carrier) I would appreciate an update here and there on the future development ... some kind of high level planning so the customers would see that it is moving forward.
  9. You have a good package to start learning the ole thing. This is how you could do it. Y Our choice of the L-39 is a perfect place to start, and this is one has one of the most incredible flight model of DCS. 1. Jump on youtube and learn how to Coldstart it. 2. Use the mission editor and make small mission to take-off and land from airport A and B. Just fly between airports at first and get used to the Air Traffic Control. Do it in various weather/time. 3. When you are comfortable, again check on youtube and learn how to use the Canon & the rockets. Practice until you feel comfortable. 4. Then do the same thing but with the Air Missile. Practice on big planes first (Like the C-130). 5. Practice dog fight against another L-39 .... 6. Then learn to drop bomb last ... this is quite tough to do it right with the L-39. But if you can master this, is is will provide you a big feeling of accomplishment. When you master all of this and have fun ... then jump in the A10.
  10. Considering the strength of the nuclear ordinance those days ... that town were the movie was taken would have been wiped out by the blast. Nothing more than a large TNT blast from what we see.
  11. By stories I mean more data (english is not my first language). Thanks for the link Kev ... good stuff in there.
  12. Holy hell you know your tanks dude! Any similar stories on the T80? I love that tank!
  13. Actually this is something I never understood so maybe someone can enlighten me here. A far away plane is one or few pixel ... as it is in real life in your eyes matrix. I do not see how they could draw a bigger object without cheating. What is expected here? I flew many times in a Cesna when I was in my 20's and I realized how difficult it is to spot another plane. Since that time, I raise my hat to all those WW2 pilots who had to do it without a radar. Labels are there for those who do not want to bother spotting the aircraft. If you WANT to do it, then you will have to spot that pixel ...like it is in real life. Do not get me wrong, I am not attacking anyone here. Just trying to understand what people want? What is the proposed fix for that? What is considered broken here?
  14. This will not be heard from the external view. In the OP example, he is talking about an air siren. Even though your broadcast a radio transmission at a certain location, you will not hear it from the external view at this location. You will only hear it from the radio itself within the aircraft.
  15. I dream of a real digital battlefield ...where everything is a full object that can be added to the world. DCS is nice, but for air unit only. Imagine a company that will go deep simulation (like DCS air units) ... but for all kinds of objects ... soldier, tank, support vehicle, helicopters, aircraft ... Briefly ... ARMA 3, but down to simulation level.
  16. What you are asking for here is to have sound broadcast from a specific location, like it would for a tank engine or an explosion at a location. I would KILL for that feature as well, but it is not supported by the scripting engine. What we would need is a function called "PLAY SOUND ON UNIT" PLAY SOUND ON UNIT UNIT: SOUND FILE: or "PLAY SOUND AT LOCATION" GPS coordinate: (in whatever format the developers want) SOUND FILE: I would sell my sister for more world functionalities like that. Beside that, you will notice quickly that it is not possible to play 2 sounds one over each other. If sound 1 is triggered (like a siren) and you call a second sound, then the first one is automatically stopped. This kills any dynamic triggers with sound that you are trying to achieve.
  17. I am sure 100% that ED knows how a Vietnam map would be popular. Everyone knows that a Vietnam map would sell more that the Dubai map. I think that the reason why it is not planned is due to the amount or work required as well as the processing power needed. TONS of trees and objects. This is the complete opposite of Dubai and Nevada. I personally think that they know that this map would be the holy grail of maps. They are keeping that card in their pocket and wait for the hardware to evolve a bit ...than BAM they will hit us with it when unexpected in few years from now. Could you imagine ... announcing DCS world version 3.0 with the optional Vietnam map. This would be a marketing dream for them, and a golden mine. It will come. Just be patient. We just need to continue showing our interest into it.
  18. Interesting, did they say that they were using the new Tungsten one?
  19. The Huey is SO good ... SO good. I wish they had plan to completely redraw its 3D model to something recent. I play it a lot ... but imagine the huey with the detail level of the F-14. It would be AWESOME.
  20. For those who would like to see more work on the world itself I am wondering ... would you be alright for ED to change their revenue model to invest more time on the world itself? I personally would gladly pay for an upgrade to 3.0 containing the features list I wrote in the original post. I know it would be against the "free to play" model they have, but we are brainstorming here. Wondering who would be ready to pay in other ways than buying aircraft? Those guys are smart, they would find a revenue model that most of the people like ...
  21. DCS is a fantastic platform that is heading in the right direction since the time of LOMAC. This being said, what would you like to see in DCS World 3.0 to consider it a "new release" of DCS World. Passing from 2 to 3, would indeed require some major changes. Please do not add new aircraftt. This thread is about the world itself. To consider it a new release, here is what I would personally like to see in. 1. A Dynamic Campaign. 2. A completely overhauled illumination engine, letting us finally fly at night in all its glory. 3. Vulcan API 4. A completely overhauled weather system. 5. A new ATC. 6. Few dozens civilian units (AI), to add contents for the mission creators. What is your take?
  22. Yeah I think we all have enough aircraft for a while. I personally think that the effort should be pushed more to the world/engine side, even if they have to change the revenue stream model. - Dynamic Campaign - AI - ATC - Vulcan - Lighting system (night) - Weather - Tons of civilian objects (AI) ...
  23. LOLLLL!Just made my day
  24. Haha! What he said! Actually I do agree 100% with this :smartass:
  25. We also need to remember that the core of the A-10 ammo is made of Depleted Uranium, which is one of the most dense metal of the planet earth. The kinetic energy deployed by this is tremendously high. I doubt that anyone would survive a round penetrating inside the hull of a tank. By the way, very interesting article about the nature of the A-10 ammo ... and how the military could start to use Tungsten instead of depleted Uranium. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/20875/a-10-warthogs-may-stop-firing-controversial-depleted-uranium-ammunition-for-good
