Hey thanks man ... I will try it out for sure.

EDITED .... found my answer. Nevermind.

Do you mean you disable it with Shift-T ? Or you have another way? Even with Shift-T, the mouse is not working to aim.

Hi guys, I would really like all AI unit to benefit from night vision at night. We cannot write mission that happen at dawn/dusk because the AI is always blind (even if it should not be). A simple property named "Night Vision [true or false]" should be available for the unit to be active at night. Take a look at the attached mission. A huey is flying over a ZU-23 air defense and will never be attacked (even though the light is still really good). But if you open the mission if the mission editor and simply move the time few minutes earlier (like at 21h00) then it will. The fact that everything goes fully blind is really annoying at night. We should be able to at least give them night vision if we want to. By doing so, dawn/dusk/night missions would appear. That would be awesome.

Actually it is not the case ... even when the sun is up (before sunset) they wont fire at all. I think the "blind" effect is not based on the luminosity ...but the clock. Take a look at the mission attached. This is a simple mission where a Huey is flying over a ZU-23 air defense. You will notice that even though there is still lot of light for the ZU to engage ...it will not. If, in the mission editor, you modify the time to put it few minutes earlier to 21h00 ... then they will. Blind Test.miz

The mission is indeed the one Thrustvector is talking about in the next quote. I too find weird that ground troops never fire at dusk/dawn (as well as night). Put some ground troops under the sun during the summer at like 9h15 and they will never fire. They are sitting ducks in that mission and simply sit there while getting fired at (by me, the pilot). The AI door gunner are just useless weight ... they are not doing anything. It kinda sucks since the scenery is beautiful at dusk/dawn but you can rarely use it since AI consider itself blind at that time ... even if the light is still very strong. Yep this is exactly the mission I am talking about (the surrounded platoon). You can fly at like 100 feet from the ground troops and they won't do anything to defend themselves.

Hi guys, I am currently doing the campaign that comes with the Huey. Is there a way for the door gunner to have night vision google at night? I noticed in the night mission that they never fire ...so wondering why they came at the first place ;) Thanks

Hi guys, reopening the thread since I started to play with the flexible sight again. Here is the situation now. - I press Shift-T ... and the flexible sight is no longer controlled by TrackIR. Good. HOWEVER the mouse no longer has the control of the sight. So the sight is fixed. Am I missing something? I simply want to use the flexible sight with the mouse.

Hi guys, did you notice this. I play DCS for a while and never got a crash to desktop. But recently I started to fly the P-51 and I have common crash to desktop AFTER landing, when I press escape and quit the mission. I don't have the issue with the jet engine aircrafts. It does not seem related to the maps as well since I got the same crash in both Georgia and Normandy. Really seem to be aircraft related. I use the GA version ...not beta. I was wondering. Did you guys noticed this? I sent the crash report to DCS.

Yep ... What I have an issue with is that they continue to sell those modules without any disclaimer. They should put those modules out of sale as long as they are broken. I even question the legality of doing this. Go buy a new TV tomorrow to discover that you cannot switch channels when its not sunny ... To read later that it is broken for years and that they "may" fix it in few years. See how it floats. Wonder why it is accepted in the software community to buy something completely broken on day 1.

This would indeed be fantastic. I was personally surprised to see that there was no civilian to use in DCS.

Would you fly Civilian/military cargo plane in DCS? Adapting the C-130...
Frag replied to Frag's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Actually I have the fully detailed CaptainSim one in FSX and it is not that bad. That big monster is quite predictable and the controls are relatively simple. The learning curve is really reasonable. A joy to fly around....Dropping low altitude cargo in combat zone would fit DCS like a glove. Parachutists also .... !!! -
Is there a way to add some light in our custom bases? Script or object ...
Frag replied to Frag's topic in Mission Editor
Sorry I am at the office and can't check... you mean with a mod installed or with the vanilla game only? -
Hi guys, I am pretty sure it is somewhere but I cannot find it in the stickies. I do not want to hijack this thread, but someone could point me out how to install objects mods like this one? Also I guess that if I write a mission using those, there are not imported in the mission? Meaning that if I share the mission they will need to install that mod first. (just want to confirm) Thanks!

Huey and landing! Where are those experts pilot with quick landing :)
Frag replied to Frag's topic in DCS: UH-1H
HOLY HELL!!! As I said in the youtube comments, I wish its passengers were having puke bags. CRAZY flying! Indeed the landing at the end is quite impressive and prove that skilled sim pilots can land that thing quickly! I can land everywhere I want now, but not even close of landing quickly. I need take my time to land it right. But the more I fly ... the more I start to feel the Huey. Now I am at the point where I don't get in VRS no more. Actually I don't know what I am doing differently, but it is quite difficult for me to fall in VRS state now ...go figure. I have to say that the Huey is for me the most satisfying aircraft to fly in this game. Your skills are building REALLY slowly and you get better and better everyday. The fact that this thing is very difficult to fly well makes it VERY satisfying when you get hang of it. Also it seems that it was also the same thing for the Vietnam pilots! I recently saw a documentary with a really old man who had the congressional medal of honor as a Huey Pilot (can't remember his name for god sake). He was saying that as a young pilot, flying the Huey was VERY difficult and that he almost crashed it TWICE in Vietnam by simply having to land when under stress. He said that he finally realize while piloting the huey in a war zone that he was not as good as he thought he was. LOT of experience came later during the war. People not flying the Huey in DCS are are really missing something! Quite an experience... I gave a demo to a friend of mine who only play DCS with the F18 mostly. He was saying that he was "not in old relic chopper" until he tried to simply take-off and land from point A to B within 2 km distance. Obviously he was not able to ...but he got mad and had to retry like 20 times to be able to (with me beside him giving him hints). He finally said ... "wow it is actually quite fun to tame that thing" and that he will buy the module LOL -
NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod
Frag replied to Merker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Is there a thread somewhere where Merker reports what they fixed already? I understand it would not be released on the spot, but we would know what he was able to fix for the next release. We did not hear about him for a while ... wondering if I missed another thread somewhere. -

Ha the chinook ... another helicopter I would sell my soul to have available in DCS. -
I love those videos showing DCS being used in the real world.

Yeah this is what I thought.... Thanks for the reply delta. A last one ... are we supposed to see the soldiers we are having into the cargo on the back seat because I never see anything there. Is it a bug on a feature that was not done?

Trigger an event using a cockpit switch - Cockpit Argument in range?
Frag replied to moespeeds's topic in Mission Editor
The X Cockpit will check only the plane that the player flies. Actually I wonder how it works in multiplayer. In the clickabledata.LUA file, what is the entry for that switch (I don't have the plane). But here, as an example, for the huey, for the pitot heat switch it would look that way. elements["MTR-PTR"] = default_2_position_tumb(_("Pitot Heater Switch, ON/OFF"), devices.ELEC_INTERFACE, device_commands.Button_16, 238 ) -
Hi guys, was wondering. Let's say I have no co-pilot in my Huey in a mission for X reason. Can I remove it thru script? And if yes, can I add it back thru script also? Thanks!

Actually quite an interesting question. Can't wait to sea what EagleRising will say about that one. -

Yep you are right. It's funny how many "we are working on this" we have seen that went nowhere lol
