  1. That is some pretty fun shit including simcity 4 in the lineup. i mean how out of touch do they want to publicly state they are. lol you`re all in it together. Apparently. I`d like to know what EA offered to the sub reddit owners to clean the reality up. and now a CEO resignation... sheesh. 1.1 million sales in 2 weeks. i can see Maxis getting closed down within 2 years from now.
  2. you are very correct Winz. ohh look real racing 3 another piss poor 3/10 EA game declared a resounding success by EA after imposing micro transactions. The business model is finally becoming the heart of the game. or is it the other way around ? either way no matter what you pay for it, its not enough and never will be. thats the future of gaming as far as the top dog is concerned.
  3. plenty good series have their hickups ehhh ! this is one series that i want to see bounce back though. Irregardless of Ea/maxis nonsense theres a simcity game out there begging to be made with that glassbox engine. there really is. and its a big selling properly recieved and enjoyed product. If EA have the foresight through hindsight we might see that, If not this is proof that Ea and the new generation of gamers are simply never going to to cut the grade in terms of quality and substancial value for money. 4/10 from EG. Clearly people need to stop pre ordering these games if they want to continue to have good quality games made. Games that are made under the premise of the essentiall requirment of being good quality driven products that sell themselves naturally. Because they are good and not created under the shroud of a conceptual notion that preorders will definetly make it worth while.. They sure did make it worth while for EA. How about you and your 4/10 game with top level PR and marketing techniques ? Particularly happy with it ? Dont Preorder! There is a time and a place for a pre order. Kickstarter proves that loosly. It`s not from EA or any of these publishers and developers simply seeking to create finance over and above the very artistic nature of our gaming endeavours. Or taking a good idea and twisting it for financial bennefit. Open your eyes folks. If this is what your buying and is succesfull then the really really good products will be few and far between and that is a Fact!. EA`s stocks have only been unsettled by this debacle by no more than 1%. i`m serious when i say EA will continue to do this unless you stop right now. I certainly didnt see a 4/10 game quality video in any of there marketing videos did you ? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-15-simcity-review
  4. Nah, dont, just remeber what happened for future reference, that means dont Forget ! INCREDIBLE!.Its the Lies that gets me. but they are getting everything they deserve now. this is just the pleasant posts around, delve deeper and you can find out the global efforts involved to change this game in the name of giving people what they wanted and deserved for their money. Ea just see`s you like rechargable batteries that keep them at the top of their game. choice is yours at the end of the day. Red for me. this is the biggest of cluster funks that could possibly occurr and the genuine end user will suffer whilst those willing to make the game playable can make the game playable and make the game more than EA would let it be without milking you for more. EA should be a making a game that gets "PLAYED", but no they are blinded and there is more emphasis on "NOT" being able to play the game via ingenious methods to stop people who shouldnt be playing the game, its insanity, make games to be played for crying out loud. its positivly backwards. in making simcity playable they actually concentrated on making it not playable. can you see what i mean ? more lies customer service lies, apparently EA can sell on a hard copy with the code used. they just cant refund you for your digital copy lolololol. http://imgur.com/a/BNqy6 and the mainstream edition of todays news. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-14-simcity-modded-so-it-can-be-played-offline-indefinitely and here is the response "EA does not comment on rumour and speculation," i do find it very ironic that everyone that bought into this wants to play it offline. and thats not a good thing, but thats the power of the preorder i guess. yesterday was the day anyone could try the game out if you know what i means! but i dont believe its this type of customer that is leading the way in where its all going, iam aware it can look like that but this is genuine backlash and not from some hypocritical group.
  5. yep. Turning out to be quite the debacle this is. I watched Maxis yesterday on reddit try their best to remove the wool pulled over folks eyes. Thankfully the powers at be are unable to silence the escalating truths of the matter. I am suprised about the main media coverage though. Coverage of the next EA title is essential to their business requirments and i find it all very strange. how far will it go. What is going on behind the scenes is more entertaining for sure. Maxis need to kickstart their own project. thats the future of what we as consumers want. the bigger and more prolific crowd funding gets the easier it is to get the products we want. and thus we shant be "fed" again in this realm. As a consumer if your not utterly pissed off at EA`s activity in every single area there is somthing wrong with you. Sooner we loose this nonsense the better. mainstream BS at it again. why ? do people claim to be mainstream or something? i think not. Once upon a time it all made sense. Gamers made games and it was an art form of sorts. the only art form left is just how to squeeze you for more through it. watching videos now about how the pathfinding is quite broken. for me its a direct parallel with how i feel the good gaming folks are buying into this. Queues and queues of people travelling to some event ingame via a dirt road because its the shortest route, Yep thats a good simulation of mainstream stupidity. Ha! it might aswell be long queues for the next untested, mired with controversy simcity game in the simcity game itself. maybe there is a special lemon shop ingame too ? Irregardless of piracy and irregardless of community petitions @75K+ this title has attracted attention in a rather underground realm in a large way. I fear only EA are to blame for what i think is about to happen.
  6. i understand and agree with what you say, and yes im a bit more narrow minded in my view, i like challenging it all from all angles because its EA we are talkin about. please dont confuse with me somone that wants to argue my point over anyone elses is all im asking because its just another opinion and yes i probally push it too much in terms of challenging it all. you see my main dillema is seeing how damn cool that glassbox engine is and re envisioning simcity4 within and using the current ideas and depth bar the antipiracy and forced multiplayer. now thats a damn cool product is it not ? in comparsions we look at what we have got and consider & concieve what could have been. i know i look at the mp side as a conveniant design overlap into realms that have nothing to do with gaming and that is for their conveniance however twisted or straight up it is.
  7. People are ! simcity 4 has shot up the steam charts today its 10/11 years old lol. Somewere along the line this got the "5" added to simcity in discussion and from the point of the media too. I`ve no idea where it came from though, but that is indication even if hypotheticaly given that there is some notion that people did want that. look at the amount of beta lets play videos with the number 5 associated in their titles. i say hypothetical in terms of people didn`t know what EA were gona chuck at them. I think given all this has happened, im solely interested in knowing what Maxis wanted initially and how they feel about it. i honestly believe people did want the natural succesor because why would you not ? accepting what you have could be mainly fueled by the fact you have bought into it. surely thats where the majority of acceptance comes from now no ? dangerous to discuss this is now because of this purchase fueled opinion many many will have through what is a serious debacle. the feedback, the stats driven feedback all together point to this being pretty bad situation.
  8. ok fair enough. EA should be doing it properly is the only argument i have in comparsion, and that it is all just to dangerous for the games we actually want. im sure nobody wanted what Maxis and EA have delivered at the end of the day. i`ll settle for it could have been different (more traditional?) and more initially succesfull. I know i imagine that new glassbox engine and a game that works to my advantage in terms of it being appealing and an evolution of the actuall Simcity series. im still imagining and will be for a long time i suspect. but that is the city builder i would like to pay for.! lol. its just dissapointment at thhe end of the day, but i still sit with a dream that a true singleplayer city building game with that glassbox engine would be utterly fantastic without the jaded nature of creating new forced multiplayer gameplay out of decisions motivated out-with the realms of the game and its historical known value to its series. now if they had called it simcity online i would have no problems with it at all. and might have never been interested in the first place. Creating 4 cities in 2 hours is not a city builder game as i know it should be based upon what we have always concieved as a city builder. im no sheep and i apologise for my own principles in all of these discussions with relation to those that may not agree. its Just another opinion out there. If i cant have that then it is more your issue and as we are discussing simcity i need say no more.
  9. yes and produce a sense of skill requirment with the twin path idea. The skill aspect is the essence of the phrase "gameplay". and that is somthing lacking presently in your videos. i understand this is no mere game so to speak as its a simulation, but gameplay wise people will ask "why" should i play RS. what will i get out of it etc. And as a game through simulation which it is imo, it requires gameplay out with any sterile approach to simulation to show it off. i know its there because i just feel i know because of other high level simming i guess, but nobody else does, only this niche and only if they have been paying attention explicilty at that. you need to be very thoughtfull about this out with the focused development of it. and i understand that much of that is what the KS is for etc. help and fresh eyes and ideas away from the coding.
  10. twice you mention that display. im thinking a computed navigational overlay displayed on the ships external viewing monitors with an and/or backup system. seems like somthhing that would be implemented to make it easy for the pilot to comprehend and adjust too. a visual path system for entry. im thinking regards this that in any other way this example video will be hard to project whats going on. its more of a feeling induced expereince with speed and movements assetts naturally hard to convey in space but with a planetary body it should look good and get some sense of feeling. some cockpit shake should be going on there i reckon for the slingshot where the ship might battle gravity to achieve the speed and thus demonstrate gravity. there is no other way to really demo it. You`d do have to cheat here otherwise. gravity such a powerfull low form of energy, our universes odd form, certainly the odd one out of the four fundamental energised "forces".... hmmm. possibly using darkmatter which has been theorised (loosly) to steal energy from gravity could be used here in a fantasy way though. and dont rule out destroying the ship in the video explanation !. hard science fiction is just excellent! lol. regards dark matter.i see it as its the secret ingredient in our cosmic soup. the essence that binds us to be one. must apologise for my excessive editing.
  11. lots of interesting comments about this today. the best being its effectivly an $80 facebook game (i agree). why? because they are trying to apply alot of concepts that are designed within free to play games to their payware games. why? to create a platform similar, a service platform with lots of little payments here and there to keep you serviced. metacritic views of zero. 30 minuite queues. gamers complaining and being threatened with bans for directly asking for a refund. you can trust EA.......... to royally screw it up under some pretence that this is the future of gaming. Many should be ashamed about buying into this future wether it works or not to your advantage or liking. open you eyes and everythhing else but keep your wallets closed and use that as your opinion on matters. too many blinded people with a new title infront of them and to much spare money thats of no consequence to spend on this sillyness. It is runing the industry. not you, but EA`s methods and you`re letting them get away with it whhilst being part of it. Hell !......... all they need is one good game that works like this and the whole industry is paying attention due to there inherant greed. poor juliano and his rogue system kickstarter. a worth while hardcore DCS level space sim. miles off target, he could have rightfully had some cash for the pot. not EA and there tripe. each to there own at the end of the day, you`re the gamer, GET GOOD GAMES to PLAY is all i say. and get what you want, not what they want to give you. its just so important at this stage. i know all the arguments against my thoughts and thats fine, just re think it through when you have had enough of simcity please and work out wether it was worth it. and more importantly remeber the occasion as best you can.
  12. im just so confident in my thoughts that its just a bit to early. i believe it is has "win" written all over it. re gravitational effects, its to early to try visualise that no ? not to hark on about to one of my ideas ive mentioned, but the slingshot mechanic if it was there might better illustrate that G effect best through speed.
  13. yes i liked that combat vid, it definetly shows how hardcore its going to be. sadly i dont think that will register with the Pew Pew communities out there as it does look intensely hardcore and dare i say it "hard".
  14. a 670 card would do you good i think. and a little OC to 3 gig at least.
  15. for those not so interested in simcity5 there maybe other options, im not so sure but it might be worth a mention. Civitas? Will it fill the void i feel. http://kck.st/14fgMKW One thing that is for certain is that this is the gaming era where we can get what we want and concieved as we want and its only going to get better & better the more support it gets. "Get what you want" or be "Given what they want" could be just small aspect in the future but the most important. re simcity, That glass box engine is brilliant.
  16. not free. but free to play which re-phrased could be pay to play but with a difference. The free initials are pretty good. well thought out and balanced well too. in terms of F2P this is a good choice.
  17. well here is Tb`s take on it recent comment and confirmation of size extensions DLC based.
  18. hehehe, and towns that load from your own hard drive probally. not some central EA server begging to be corrupted. its hilarious and they try there hardest to make you want to buy it by apparently having no choice.. incredible at the end of the day isnt it ? its all harking back to my original question, "What does buying it do to the situation ?" it legitimises the whole thing wether you care or not, and this is why no really thoughtfull person should be buying or doing otherwise with it imho. this video is spot on. if you buy this you have effectivly rented it.
  19. what upsets me is that there are so many people round here that know exactly what the problem might be. Atleast there are those that have succesfully set this shader method up!. but no. its a competition for everyone to keep info to themselves. and everyone is involved and to blame really, inc me. There is no real design community here at all that are willing to share. to get everyone to the end goal. ive literally had to stop trying to find out information myself, when you get your messages ignored it becomes futile just trying to learn somthing. they all know but wont share. what a poor community modding scene its turning out to be at times. i just dont understand at the end of the day, people would rather things looked sub par or crap as i say lol.... rather than get the correct guy for the job. its ludicrous at the end of the day. this isnt aimed at you mr skatezilla, just the annoyance of it being so hard to learn or get it right with knowledge leading to it, trial and error is not damn well good enough. but its all we are left with. btw do you skate ?
  20. dont i know it !.......... FORGET consoles a second What is the average age of a PC gamer, who would buy such a title on the PC ? (actually whats the average age of a console user too?) Who are the people with the money, (platform costs inclusive) what age range ? Is there really no market for a real evolution of simcity ? one thats not got frustrating nonsense built in by design.. we`re in a world of nonsense i am afraid and no amount of appeasing the situation will work anymore for me lol. At the end of the day i know im doing my best, putting my best foot forward. Buying into it and thus legitimising it certainly wont help. If cities-xl would perform well (and stop trying to get me to pay more for nothing) well i wouldn`t care at all to be honest.
  21. my fear is that these methods of implementation in games spreads. for example what would dcs be like with always on internet. and to cope with anti piracy what methods could be invoked to create a constant connection with a server meaning up/down loads of information are required. what would it be like? for single player. and for multiplayer ? and then consider would you buy it ? would it be as much fun even ? i perish to think of the consequences of these things becoming widespread. whilst one says there is nothing one can do about it, what does buying it do to it exactly ? console gaming is so generic these days why ? because console users all bought into it thinking it was great stuff. i have a console and some of it is ok. but all of it is poor at thhe end of the day. ive learned a lesson and expensive one.
  22. no make sense. dxt1 is just a dds image with R, G and B channels. dxt 3 or 5 as they are commonly used contain alpha, but your normal map can be independant so DXT1 is good for normal map. its only the normal map processing that dictates its a normal map not the file type. dxt or format type etc. infact. open a normal map and have a look at the individual channels. look theres only 2 ,1 of them containts no information at all. ! why u may ask. well ill leave you to work it out.
  23. excites me too but well, ive drawn a line, my bullcrap radar is out in full force and no matter how immediatly exciting it is, simcity 5 should have been about somthing else other than a simple sale to a new generation of gamers. it had heritage and grandeur. not any more. its all made too generic to sell too to many people. and its upon this very premise that attention is not payed to what these gargantuan companies and corperations are doing and twisting us into. its like saying screw the politics, screw the morales, screw everything because the game is good. ill sell every notion of whats right out the window because the game is good lol. its just wrong on so many levels.
  24. unless its changed, blue is/was reflection channel. green is width.
  25. The more its harder to realise the more i want it for some strange reason and i think most will feel this way too that have supported with funds ,not to mention general interest, which is not a bad thing. aslong as word gets around eventually it`ll happen.
