  1. yes its been happening on and off since release. the plane has a default skin that is set to the model and our skins overwrite that but at distance a LOD effect or bug is introduced that is not showing the chosen skin.
  2. love the first shot. kinda makes me think a good graphical advance someday could be focal lens blurring in the hdr.
  3. Getting used to how the shaders work i think. This is mid day & dusk. Specular and general skin edits only, using warm colours hdr setting. in motion = but using normal HDR colours. not quite as nice as ive found out. but on normal and cold it blurs the reflections, on cold everything is blurred.
  4. thhought id make a demo vid instead of a screenshot with this skin im making. i flew with mouse and keyboard in this view hehe. just modding the specular files once again and testing for awkward shader moments. using normal HDR settings here and well i dont like lack of shadowing, self shadowing contrasting effect is nice, but overall it needs more shadowing. the wing decals colour merges with the grey metal because its just either to bright or to white and it causes complete relfection knock out..... can you see it ? . give us our nice shadowing and reflection power within shadow state like from 1.2.1 back.
  5. good mod. whilst i dont have the bird yet, from what i have watched the lack of appearance of glass concerned me, anything to help that is certainly good.
  6. i dont watch snooker anymore, The last HD tv got ruined from it. i wish they could make the TV scene a bit more dynamic i.e more movement.

  8. ohh and an xm52 smoke generator please :thumbup: That could be nice with combined arms usage.

I`d wish for a huey mounted loudspeaker to capture those "wandering souls". but we could always play wagner instead! not a joke. the use of the mounted speaker was apparently a very persuasive concept in the vietnam war. but dangerous too as it could affect the allied soldiers. They played ghostly recordings that they would try to weaken the enemy with on a personal level. but wagner alone is good! lol

  13. some folks when updating dcs completely remove all the files based in Program files folders, myself included. this usually means the hassle of re installing everything. having things layed out in your folder away from the main install simply means less hassle and well it sits there and should work without even touching it. however i usually clean that saved games/DCs folder too lol. a little bit of editing and i guess ill create my own DCS custom files area. Paul should absolutely any files be read and overwrite from this newer location ? are there possible restrictions. can the newer sky and sun effects mods work like this too ?

  16. only when p51 first came out did i try edit some hdr aspects. the game took many minuites to load in and wasnt worth it because you couldnt join servers . ive only edited spec files listed in the a10.zip file. located in bizzare/world/textures. i use gforce 670. right now im fresh install because ive not dabbled in dcs for months flying or modding. anyway they may look more vivid but they are not realistic in actuall fact. a few aspects make up for the lack of realism in the sim but its just an illusion at the end of the day that makes you think its better quality. but i do have a good eye and understanding of the graphics engines shortcomings with abbility to enhance.
  17. cheers, my only aim to enhance how this sim can look. and exscuse for some nice pics. it is the same skin at 12:00 & 19:30 hrs. just some specular file changes on default ingame skin with a different art direction to whats intended. another spec edit produces some plastic style effect at what is a rather restricted angle that the shader works between. these could do with widening and being smother from the zero effect transition to full effect what ever that maybe be, reflection, specular width / power etc cube maps. cloud reflections... shaders for 1.2.2 were better balanced. <wishes someone would listen>
  18. playing with spec files again lol, enhanced vividity is the result. but not at all angles due to the overall strange shader implementation since 1.2.2 The last shot is the only photoshopped picture as when the sun is in view its not very realistic with the yellow haze over the scene from the hdr.... looked good in game i thought. a bit more striking.
  19. ahh ok i see. from that i take it this is some wingtip style smoke setup and it could be something different. (im not knowledgable on armaments of any sorts) but since last may i waited for smoke abbility on the 51. \o/ hurrahs for smoke !
  20. i be confused ? i just selected it in the arms part of mission editor. no modding from me. im using fresh install with no mods except my Penny 4 skinjob. looks similar to the smoke cans for the a10 to me.

  25. No need to over write anything there DAvebruce76. Copy a livery folder, insert your skins with your newly titled DDS files, open decription.lua and edit the necessary lines to look for your newly titled DDS files by title. and voila users can have it as its own entity. ive given you some Rep for your lovely first skin.
