  1. Yea, these things are for urban warfare, I think its 1 for each tank. If I was soem dude with an rpg hanging out of a window, these things would scare the shit out of me, enough to throw the rpg away and act all civilian like.
  2. C'mon Kuky, you should know by now that American Jets NEVER crash :helpsmilie:
  3. Six Updater can be a right PITFA Seriously, it either works with no problems or it will drive you insane with fits of rage so bad that a new class of medicine will have to be discovered just to be able to diagnose you.
  4. And Dangerous Waters beats them both :) Well, atleast DW has a bearing on what is being spoken about in this thread since its based on submarines instead of uboats. But I do agree that SH3 is the best SH out there, although SH4 isnt that far behind, SH5, i got it int he steam xmas sale for a couple of quid and even though I only spent a couple of quid on it, I still feel I got ripped off.
  5. LoL, that Jahre viking is some slippery target, really quick and stealthy and can turn on a dime to evade torpedo's.
  6. Tornado hasnt carried Nukes since the late 1990's when the last air dropped nuclear bomb WE.177 was removed from the UK inventory. At this present time, the harriers are more worthy to be kept than the Tornados are, but alas, it isnt to be.
  7. Yup ethereal, dunno if any of you play dangerous waters, but you can get all the info you need for a stealthy attack from the passive array only, given enough time, no need for a ping, which in most cases isnt needed and is likely to come back and bite you.
  8. Agreed that it wont be picking up say subs or anything designed to be stealthy at that range, but the mere fact that they can hear certain frequencies that far off is nothing but astonishing, I spose all new subs have similar capabilities and similar detection ranges, but being able to hear something 2-3000 miles away really is something, just think back 60/70 years when a couple KM's were the max distance. EDIT: I said Vanguard in my previous post, its not Vanguard, its the Astute Class boats that were said to be able to do that, I got mixed up with the Vanguard Boomer and the Astute hunter subs, vanguard being in service from 1993 and Astute in service last year, and some idiot has crashed it already :) http://www.global-military.com/tag/hms-astute Where it lists Sonar Capability as 3000 miles.
  9. You do know that certain sounds travel thousands of miles under the ocean and in some instances right around the world ?, the lower the frequency the more distance it travels, so if the passive sonar is good enough, I quite believe that it is possible to pick up ships that far away. I cant say if it has those capabilities, its just what was on TV when they were building it, but I do believe that long range detection in the thousands of miles is possible.
  10. All this sub talk and Silent Hunter 5 sucked sooo much balls, it makes me sad :( Dangerous Waters/SH3/SH4 :punk:
  11. Supposedly, and I dont know if this is true, but the new Vanguard class subs from the UK can detect a vessel leaving port on the east coast of america, when the sub is lurking underwater beside the west coast of ireland, all done passively. If true, thats a range of roughly 3000 miles that it can detect a surface based ship. That is pure nuts. As for the Gottland class sub finding the US carrier, I wouldnt say thats a great achievement, especially when a noisy ass collins class sub from Australia did the same thing :) Its a good achievement, just not as great as the collins attempt, simply because the collins is known for its shitness. The collins class subs are as quiet as throwing out time at the local nightclubs and, it slipped away from an american seahawk sonar dipping helo that had been pinging it for 12 hours solid and it got right in amongst a US battlegroup undetected and took pictures of some carrier, I forget the name and it was classed as a kill. ^ that is an achievment, getting away from sonar dipping helos and practise torpedos isnt easy, yet an underwater jukebox did it :)
  12. In my experience, any application/program that says *fix/speed up your pc* which you have to pay for, they are best avoided like the plague. What those apps give you for a price, their is free ones that do the exact same thing or better and all for free. CCleaner gets a thumbs up from me, because it gets rid of shite that is the usual suspects when it comes to the odd slow down, but it also doesnt act too big for its boots and mark everything in your registry as being able to be safely deleted. CCleaner is good and doesnt go over the score with what it will allow you to delete safely, I say safely, because 99% of the time it will be perfectly safe to delete what it marks as being deletable, whilst other apps including paid for ones will mark things "safe to be deleted" when infact they arent. You gotta try a few out and find whats suitable for you, but personally, I would avoid paying for a tune up, as their really is no need to pay for one in this day and age.
  13. Malwarebytes AntiMalware blocks access to something Bad on your FIRST SCREENSHOTS link. IP-BLOCK 188.72.250.123 (Type: outgoing, Port: 50705, Process: firefox.exe)
  14. Ah, so you used to work for a college cutting the grass
  15. The top one in night vision reminds me of arma 2, basically exactly the same, but thats as far as it goes, once out of night vision it looks nothing like arma2.
  16. Basically, the only thing that the gpu on sandy bridge is good for is a backup incase your stand alone video card dies or you are waiting on a rma/new vid card to arrive. It will come in handy then, because how many people have had a card die on them and had to go out and buy a new card just so that they can fill out the rma form online ? or they bought a new card because the rma procedure would take ages and they didnt want to go without a pc for so long. So, this is gunna be great for those types of situations. But, I reckon everyone here already has atleast 1 spare gpu kicking about incase of emergencies, but for those that havent, upgrading to SB will help you out should you OC your vid card and fry it in the process. I only hope Ivy Bridge has something similar, because I am bypassing SB and just waiting for IvyBridge to come out before I dump socket 1366.
  17. You have now entered the twilight zone.
  18. 108, landing or taking off on the runway after some idiot has shot it up with their cannon. You cannot see the bullet holes and, the first you know that its been shot up is when your Frog goes arse over tit due to the front gear suddenly buckling. Isnt so bad if you are only doing 100 or less, but any higher and you are likely to see what if feels like to kiss the HUD with your teeth and have the stick jammed hard up against your nutsac, all that just a few milliseconds before your cockpit is airbrushed red.
  19. If I recall, the directors Cut, is actually shorter than the Original by a good bit. I have the directors cut on DVD and I have the Original Episode version on a few VHS video Tapes, and the VHS version is longer than the Directors cut. Regardless of which version people watch, they are both great. The movie itself was filmed in a uboat for the parts that could be filmed in one and in a custom built sub set for other parts and, they even built a sub frame onto a boat for the exterior shots, so when you see them standing on the bridge and sailing through the water, they are actually standing on a frame thats been built onto a normal boat, no cgi there... The actors were also forced to live like pigs during the filiming process so that they would look white due to lack of sunlight, sweaty and beardy due to not being allowed to wash or shave properly and also to give them that apathetic look about them, so that they would reflect what real submariners would look like before/during/after a mission during the war. That is hardcore, as it must of felt like they really were going on a mission during filming, which was the directors intention.
  20. Their is two movies about that mission that were released roughly at the same time. One was called "The one that got away" with some McGann bloke and the other was " Bravo Two Zero". Both tell the same story, but each one is based on either Chris Ryans account or Andy McStab's ( I know its McNab ) account of what is supposed to of happened. Both together helps you get a fuller picture of what really happened during that mission. I actually think that The one that got away is better than Bravo two Zero, but they are both roughly of the same quality. If you havent seen TOTGA and if you are interested in seeing it, lemme know as I think I still have it somewhere. This is it here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117250/ Also, just to add to the thread, another good war movie, it isnt exactly war, but its related to it and to espionage and mossad, " The Doomsday Gun" About the Iraqi super gun and how the j00's assasinated the Canadian Engineer Gerald Bull who was building it for the Iraqis.
  21. The price came down during the daily deals, outwith the daily deals they were roughly 10 quid or so, but arma2 and arrowhead were also on the daily deals section and the prices were sub 10, cant recall, but it was major steal for anyone who wanted to buy them. I already owned arma2 on dvd, but I bought arrowhead from steam last year and durign the steam xmas sales I decided to get everything else frelating to arma2 on steam so it was all together.
  22. Thats not nice if it's true and if we have been giving the whole story. You get more than 3 activations for those products, so if you havent got any left and you only used it once or twice, then when ED go to check how many activations you have left before they renew/give you more acivations, they can see all of the previous activations, they can pick up patterns i.e they can see exactly where the activations were activated and when. If Alenxander said no more activations, then he maybe mistook your question and thought you were asking "how many activations do you have left" and his response might of been, none, or more probably, when he looked into your account he say a pattern and realised that you may of been handing your serial out to friends. In which case is blatant disregard for the eula and is enough for them to ban/block your account or to no longer hand out serials when you need them. I have many times asked for new activations and each and every time within a few hours or a day or so and on one occassion a week, I was ALWAYS given those new activations. I dont know whats happened in your situation, but if Alexander decided to not give you anymore, then their MUST of been a LEGITIMATE reason for it. I am on neither side, as I know how frustrating it can be if you cant play the game you bought, but "if" you gave some activations to your friends, which I am not saying you did, but if you did do so then that would be the reason you are no longer allowed to get activations. I hope the situation gets clarified for you, so that you either get mroe activations or get told the reason why they will no longer supply you with any.
  23. HAHA the BF2 interface :) A.C.E all the way here, I doubt PR will be able to compete with ACE for the simple fact that ACE has been on the go for years when it comes to arma2 and is constantly evolving, the amount of leet stuff in ace is amazing, it makes all the arma2 games much much better, even though with arma2/arrowhead/PC/baf addons its great just liek that, but ace brings it to a new level.. Not saying they wont be able to do good things, but I doubt it will be as packed full of great things like ACE is, I am hoping it is as I will love to play it if its good as I love arma2. I wish em the best of luck and will check it out, as I want to test out the Chally 2 :) 98% of those 2 videos comprises of Arma2/Arrowhead and british forces addon, so peeps, if you like the look of the videos then buy arma2 or even just arrowhead and BAF addon and you will be amazed at how great the game is.
  24. It's cool Kukster ;) I was just going by the video, I havent read practically any of this thread save for the last page or so and I dont have a clue whats going on. I just read 1 or 2 posts from the last page, saw the link and watched it as I am interested in SB cpu's, and for me personally the video looks smooth, but I am a retard who thinks that 12fps in cod is smooth. Yea, I did look at the video fps, I could hardly read them, but I think if I recall, when firing it didnt drop past 30 ? but then later it did drop to low 20s if I saw it correctly. Also, if the beta is plagued by stutters and pauses due to not being optimised as of yet, then yea I also agree with ya that no matter what cpu one has, their will always be stutters/pauses/hiccups until its been optimised to run smoothly. I hadnt read anything in this thread before page 6, and in one of your posts on page 6, I think this is what you are meaning when you say " the game is currently workign like this" and what some people are not picking up on, i.e the game is stuttering/pausing in places due to not being optimised, when people just think its because they need a more powerful pc to get the game to be smooth, I could be wrong though ? It's all good though kuky monster
  25. I dunno, but to me that youtube video does show very minimal fps lose/stutter when firing the gau. I would be happy with that ingame, as it doesnt look to be causing any stutter or pauses when fired.
