  1. Seen it many times. The first time I saw it I actually thought I had missed the radar, but time and time again playing the same mission, once the radar was killed and once I got within a certain distance from the Buk launchers, they would fire at me.

  3. mmmm :p water looks nice, cant wait to actually start flying the thing when I get my pedals and stick.
  4. I have a whole airbase on my doorstep saying differently.
  5. I agree with you that the nimrods were all different shapes and sizes due to the ridiculous way that they were made to start with, hence the difficulty upgrading them with new wings and such, but once upgraded they would of lasted a good 30 years, so end of life it was not. The upgrade was to keep them flying and give them new abilities, so it wasnt exactly what you would call end of life. Pissing money up the wall for no outcome ? yes, no outcome NOW since it got binned, if it hadnt got binned their would of been an outcome. Every big military project is out of budget and late, the nimrod being one, so you cant exactly pick the nimrod out of them all and say, its late and your pouring money into it, it has to be cut, because every other project works like that. Cut's have to be made, sure they do, but getting rid of the nimrod was a mistake for the UK, the Commander of their base admitted as much and so has other high ranking RAF officials. Ok certain aspects of what it can do can and will now be filled by other aircraft, but not all of its capabilities can be filled by other AC, and losing the plane is just the tip of the iceberg, because the bases could now close, ( we know that the bases "could" be used for troops coming back from Germany, but thats looking less likely as each day passes, hopefully the bases dont close and some use can be found for them ) the thousands of civilian and military workers who work on the bases will be out of a job, and in that area where the base is, their is no other prospects for work other than the base. As I said, cuts have to and are being made, but their must be better ways of doing it, I could suggest some, but what good will they do other than telling a forum what I think would of been better to cut ? its not going to change the Gov's mind, its not gunna get the nimrods back flying again, its not gunna put planes on a carrier within 10 years, so their is no point in me saying, "they should of cut this and that, but kept this and that" because it wont do anything. All I am saying is, the nimrod was a stupid thing to cut if they didnt have a replacement for it, as I am not sure if the majority of people here will understand exactly how versatile the nimrod actually is at doing its job. It doesnt have to be in a warzone to be doing its job and earning a living. Infact everyday it was doing a vital job guarding the UK coastline and photographing every single ship that was in our sea's and gathering intel, also it provides Air Sea Rescue out in the atlantic and north sea where helicopters just cannot get to in most cases, it hunted subs far from land where helicopters cant get to, infact it does a helluva job just around our coast. I am all for binning it "IF" their is something viable that can replace it, whether that be a cheap prop plane of some kind or something jet based, but something needs to replace it. It will all be ok until something major happens, example a passenger liner sinks in the atlantic where its too far for helo's and rescue ships are 2-3 or more days out, only then will there be a stink about why they got binned and why they or a replacement needs to be brought back into service. Also, a nimrod was co-ordinating the rescue operation for piper alpha when it exploded, it was on scene as soon as possible and it was said that without the nimrod, co-ordinating the rescue operation would of been extremely hard if not virtually impossible, but the addition of the nimrod made it so much easier to co-ordinate the rescue attempt and the sweep up operation looking for bodies and survivors in the following days. I personally couldnt careless if the nimrods fly again, i wont shed a tear I wont stay awake at nights wondering why, as they do nothing for me personally, but it would of been nice had they survived the cut as they are an extremely versatile and valuable aircraft. Thats just my point of view, others may think differently, but thats what I think.
  6. Damn, you joined the forum last month and you have nearly 1000 posts already, holy shit.
  7. Personally I'd wait until hit before ejecting :)
  8. Oh just a thought, is legacy USB enabled in the bios ??? also is everything related to usb enabled in the bios ? If you have legacy usb options, enable them, as some old items wont work on newer motherboards until the legacy usb is enabled. I foudn that out the hardway when my keyboard didnt work. I could of sworn I had already enabled it, but nope I must of missed it and it annoyed me.
  9. Cali, you got incoming, check your pm ;)
  10. Bandwidth, GDDR5 has more bandwidth allowing more data throughput which is a good thing when it comes to games and bandwidth hungry apps, however I am not sure the HD5850 actually needs/benefits much from GDDR5. Thats really about it.
  11. I know this may sound dumb, but you are positive that it was the correct drivers ? It probably was, but I have done it myself a few times where I downloaded the wrong set and only noticed halfway through the installation if it got that far. Or maybe its the wrong set thats listed on that website you got them from ? any other place to get the drivers from ? Also, what about plugging the devices in, going to device manager and clicking on the unkown devices that will be listed, then install the drivers through there ? as it might work that way ? I really dont know if it will or wont, its just speculation.
  12. Old ? dude, both our SSD's are Gen 2 EDIT: But I will grant you that your vertex is a better drive than the things thats raided up in this rig, when raided they pwn, but singly they are not as competitive as the vertex drives, so I have to give you that. However that being said, my Corsair F120 is, but it's busy serving pr0n :)
  13. If it was just installing the software to see if it installed correctly, I could try that as I have win 7 ultimate 64, but, I dont have a cougar and by the looks of it the software installs fine, but it just doesnt recognise his stick. Apart from throwing out some guesses I have no idea since I dont actually own a cougar. I would however say to try different usb ports, but I guess that has already been tried a few times ? Or worst case scenario, he could try and install via safe mode. I know, its not advisable, but it can be used for things like that, just that I personally wouldnt recommend it.
  14. Ahwell, worth a try. What about disabling AntiVirus software when installing ?
  15. You could try making a folder outside of the program files and program files x86 folders, make a folder there and install the software into that folder. As it could be a permission problem thats causing your problem, if so, then making a new folder outside of the program files folder and installing there should fix it. Like this, the new folder is at the bottom, if you install to there it bypasses all the usual security that controls the Program Files folder's, thus you are less likely to have/come across problems when installing stuff that hasnt been specifically made with windows 7 in mind.
  16. No its not, performance degradation is still quite big on the most recent upto date SSD's. It isnt as bad as before, but ALL MLC SSD's suffer from it and Trim and GC dont do that great of a job and depending on your OS and setup, you might not even have the use of Trim. Although, saying that, they are faster than any normal hdd even when degraded, but the level of degradation can be astounding when compared to new ssd's. Thats why nearly everyone who uses ssd's use freespace cleaner/ASCleaner or alike to keep their ssd's in tiptop shape, then when installing a new hdd they use hdderase which resets all the cells back to normal. They are getting better, but over time todays ssd's drastically reduce in performance, simply because trim isnt that great, although its better than GC. Give your new ssd's 6 months pilotasso and you will soon see that you get passed the initial shock of how fast they are and you will then start noticing how quickly they degrade if not looked after properly. To the OP, SLC is the way to go if you can afford the price premium, only you can decide if the extra $$$ is worthit for SLC based SSD's.
  17. Fits onto my technics headphones. Just a pity that the clip pro is a cheap piece of shit that falls apart and needs to be held together with rubber bands to stop the back piece from falling off, not to mention the actual piece with the lights on it, it just loves to pop out of its swivel hole... But apart from that it fits fine on my headset.
  18. Ahahaa, a rich conservative voter crawls out of the woodwork
  19. True, but you get the dust covering your fans and radiator instead which is a much harder job to clean since dust gets trapped on the rads fins and is a pain in the arse to clean. If the OP can, I would advise him to get the corsair h70 instead of the h50, provides better cooling, especially for an overclock and also is a much shorter pump which is easier to fit compared to the tall h50, the h70 also has flexible tubing to a degree which the h50 doesnt. As for power units, if you are buying a corsair power unit then dont go for the TX series, go for the HX series, the HX are much better power supplies and a HX 850 will be more than ample for your rig.
  20. As fopeyducker pointed out, a lockup of a OC'd 920 at 70oC is probably due to just a handful of things. 1, First and foremost, Software, Windows being the culprit. If not then you start looking at these. Totally wrong bios settings, wrong voltage settings, mobo not being able to handle it, memory not being able to overclock good, as remember, when you increase the BCLK you are also automatically overclocking your memory also, so relax the timings on the ram ( relax means increase the numbers i.e from 7 to 8 etc ) and try the same overclock again. Or it could be a damaged CPU that was damaged due to previous OC attempts. You shouldnt need to do anything other than increase the BCLK and maybe turn on turbo to get access to the higher multi, if turning on turbo to get the higher multi, then make sure its locked, so that the cpu freq wont jump about between 2nd highest and highest multiplier frequencies due to cpu load. Once locked you get access to 1x more which means you dont need to increase the BCLK as much for a given speed. you shouldnt need to increase the voltage if you are not going above say 3.4, above that then you will probably need to add some extra juice whilst keeping certain voltages within .5v of each other.
  21. You just have to look at Hardocp to find out that the 950's are not as good at overclocking as the 920/30's are for some reason, alot of people saying that over there. Some people just cannot get 4 gig stable with them, I am not saying they cant do 4 gig, just that some people have had trouble getting them stable at that, whilst others have had to increase the voltage more than you would with a 20/30 when its basically the same cpu, then you have others who are runing at 4.2 no problem. Even though the 20/30/40/50s are all basically the same chip but just clocked differently, the 950s just dont seem to be as good as the lower clocked versions. Why I couldnt say, maybe their is slight differences in the IMC in the 950's compared to the lower ones ? maybe something else in the cpu is slightly different in the 50s ? but alot of people are not as impressed with the 950's as they are with the 20/30s, especially compared to the 920 D0 stepping which is a monster for cheap cpu. Some owners who have both the 920 and 950 prefer the 20 and would recommend people buy that instead of the higher clocked 950. I actually bought a 950 since it was only a tenner dearer than the 930, I ordered that along with the rest of my stuff, but between the time I ordered and the time it arrived which was less than 24 hours from Scan. I had came across the stories about the 950 not being so good at OC'in, so I sent it back the day it arrived and got a 930 instead. I am not saying the 950 is bad, far from it, as its a great CPU, its just that what has been posted about it is pointing to the fact that it just isnt as good an overclocker as its siblings. As for the 930, I am extremely happy with it, this thing can do 3.6 on 1.150vcore and prime stable for roughly 5/6 hours with 12 gig of ram and never get higher than 61/62oC on core 0 and 59 down to about 56/57 on the rest of the cores. I was sceptical that it would be happy at 3.6 at only 1.150vcore, but prime95 with HT enabled and crazy gaming hasnt crashed the pc or even caused it to stutter, also continuous huge file transfers to test hasnt done so either, so I am extremely happy with the 930 and would recommend them to anyone, I would also recommened the 920/940/950 aswell, the higher ones and gulftown, well they just are not worth the price, too costly for very little gain in power.
  22. Huge game manuals FTW, i remember it started with the Amiga, for me it started there, where you got a manual with Falcon, then other games started to copy it. Then all of a sudden they changed over to gay PDF files, like wtf. PDF files are only good if you fancy a read of the manual whilst you are at your pc doing nothing, they aint good for playing a game and needing to look up the manual for something. ALL, and I mean ALL sims should come with a decent sized paper manual, the manufacturers of whatever sim cant complain and say it costs too much to include a manual, because if there software was good, it would sell regardless of an extra couple of quid or bux added on due to the manual.
