I did that mission using the non-easy radio and everything went fine. Maybe you didn't contacted the correct tower (see what airport) or not followed the procedure: 1. Contact before engine start 2. Contact before taxi 3. Contact when in front of the runway, before take off (you have to be positioned right in front of the runway but still on the taxiway) Then just use F-10 to talk to other flights, like BiPod said.

Yes, the system is starting to get old. I have the same CPU and GPU as you but 4G RAM, and W7 check also this thread, maybe raising the RAM availability to 3GB for applications will help you, not sure though. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=67939. About upgrading: Yes, I would (and myself will hopefully this year..) upgrade everything: CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM and go for win 7 X64.

At the moment, what works, is turning things off: start with civ traffic, textures on med, water on low.. for better performance with things high you will need some more GHz and eventually a better GPU.

You can only expect from a software to have multithreading capability. If it will run on multiple cores, that depends on your CPU (and of course OS..). If you have multiple cores, then they can run multiple threads simultaneous. Or like Mugenjin said with the hyperthread technology you can run multiple threads on one cpu core. But we don't care so much about that because 1 core CPU with 3,2 GHz with HTT can run 2 threads at max 1,6 GHz each. Having a dual core with 3,2 GHz per core, you get to tun the same threads at max 3,2 GHz each. Saying that, the title of my thread is imprecise (I didn't expect this discussion) but not incorrect (since I have a dual core :D).

Yes can maybe run it now well with a high end oc'ed pc. But you have to think about the future. And when the next DCS will come out (2-3 years), that will be the future. It will always be a limitation to what ED can accomplish. I find it positive that they put the sound engine on a different core. It's a good start. And I think taking the time to implement the flight model (pretty CPU intensive) on a different core is worth the investment, especially since DCS is meant to be a series.
