  1. I think the tyres would explode if nothing else.
  2. I really love how good a training aid this its, it's just brilliant. I'm getting fairly good at it now too: Now for more Tomcat practice; it's far harder that's for sure.
  3. :shocking::shocking::shocking: YES! Normal landing speed around 130kts, but you should be referencing your AoA not speed anyway.
  4. I believe Hornet pilots use the radar altimeter in the pattern, so goes to show I shouldn't take things for granted it would be the same in the cat!
  5. Not quite. Departures for Case I/II climb to maintain 500 until 7nm to provide separation from aircraft that may be in the break at 800, which only gives 300ft clearance.
  6. Great mission, but my first run threw up an issue that I think lies with the cats radar altimeter: it's reading approx 125ft too high. Anyone else getting the same?
  7. The air keeps the cockpit pressurised, not just ventilated. Not really an issue in DCS as getting the bends isn't modelled, but certainly important in reality! Other things the air is required for IIRC are: Wave guide vane pressurisation (radar won't work without it) Gun gas purging (gun may explode without it - actually there might be an interlock to stop if firing without air althogether) G- suit Equipment cooling Canopy seal Wing bag inflation External tank fuel transfer Internal tank pressurisation There may be more.
  8. Well all those things are influenced by thrust, so if they only need to change that to affect all those other things (without any FM changes).
  9. It's Jester. Mute him for now; although hopefully we'll get a fix today.
  10. Jester is currently bugged; this might be your issue. Mute him for now, and this should fix it.
  11. Got it, thanks guys.
  12. I'm getting the AWG 9 COND warning in the RIO pit, but I'm not sure why. I'd have thought it was something to do with cooling, e.g. forgetting to enable bleed air, but I've checked that and it's all on. Any ideas? Thanks.
  13. You can still use jester, just set him to silent.
  14. I'm having repeated CTD also, but I can't even find the crash.log file? edit:// never mind, muting jester seems to do the trick!
  15. The F-14 wasn't designed for low level/deep strike missions that might benefit from being able to follow a detailed flight plan e.g. to avoid threats. I'd guess this is why it doesn't have the ability to hold that many waypoints.
  16. Have you moved the enable switch to engage?
  17. No problem. I hope you're successful because it looks like lots of people, me included are very interested
  18. Agreed. We can't order if we have no details.
  19. I forgot to record my first attempt, whoops. I think I caught the 3 wire, but my approach was very messy. Not a good pass. I think that pretty much sums up how I see others getting on with it too: easier to catch the wires than the Hornet, but the rest of the pass is quite a bit harder.
  20. I don't think that holds true for ANY jet aircraft.
  21. I can't check now, but are you sure they said flaps down? That doesn't intuitively make sense to me (degreaded lift/drag ratio), although I could be wrong.
  22. Engaging DLC deploys the spoilers to their mid-way position. If you roll the DLC switch forward they'll retract, and rolling it back will deploy them to their full up position.
  23. I have a couple of questions here actually: First, when moving into oversweep, I thought the emergency lever had to be up? I can only seem to move it aft when it's down. Second, I find just as it reaches the full aft position, it jumps full forward. Anyone else get this?
  24. OK guys and gals, who's ready to put up their first landing attempt?!
