  1. That doesn't sound right; how are you going to crank the engine with no bleed air? There is more information on this subject than can really be covered in a couple of paragraphs. I'd check out the NATOPS if you really want to know about this. Here's some additional info though: The APU restart envelope is very limited (<250kts and <10,000ft). Descend to below 25,000ft to improve your restart chances for both windmill and crossbleed restarts. If your speed is blow 400kts go for crossbleed start, above this you can use windmill. Crossbleed requires 80-85%+ rpm on the operating engine if the dead engine is below 30% rpm.
  2. How a sim plane handles can be interpreted no less by what's going on the screen than what an FFB stick will do for you.
  3. Quite possibly yeah. It's a shame the F5 manual doesn't detail how it works. Either way, the point I was trying to put across is that a lack of FFB isn't necessarily the handicap some think it is.
  4. What kind of feedback are you expecting? Many aircraft with hydralic non-reversible controls have their artificial feel provided by springs (I think the F5 included, but couldn't confirm). Your desktop does't replicate the feel of the real thing, but that's because it doesn't provide the throw or resistance of the real thing, not because of lack of 'feedback'. I think many simmers don't realise you simply aren't going to get forces transmitted from the control surfaces back to the stick in any aircraft with powered controls like this (I mean this as a general statement; no offence intended if you already knew this).
  5. If only such behaviour was limited to children!
  6. Good quesiton. I'm sure there's still things WIP. However if you open the mission editor, add an F/A-18C Lot20 and set to player, a failures tab becomes available. The list of failable items may not be exhaustive or complete yet, but you can see there are plenty of subsystems that have been at least partially covered.
  7. Ah probably yes. I'm fortunate that I can fly with people I know, so won't encounter that. Well, unless I upset them :p
  8. The A10C only does a simple Distance/Time = Speed calculation to give you an average speed IIRC, in which case yes you'd have to do as described e.g. if you need to be at a target in 30mins (0.5 of an hour) and you're 150nm away, it'll tell you to fly at 150/0.5 = 300kts. If that's too slow, you have to work something out yourself. You don't need to do that in the Hornet though, because you can enter a required GS into the UFC when entering TOT data and it'll compensate for you. e.g. same scenario as above but you require 500kts at the target, it'll direct you to fly slower than 300kts at first, so you can fly faster later on and arrive at the same time.
  9. Yes, in SP mode that's the way it is.
  10. You have to request to jump into the back seat currently IRRC, so I expect randoms will be prevented from doing this. As for what would happen to a DCS RIO if their pilot disconnects, I imagine they'll get kicked back to spectator.
  11. Ignore majapahit, he's just a troll.
  12. Many people just have the OB version installed. Serious bugs are very rare, and if they do occur are normally squished quickly with a hot fix. No reason not to use it, IMO of course.
  13. I'd have thought this was with ED to clarify. It was their announcement, and only they have the means to distribute (not M3).
  14. Bah. That's still a c£*k tease.
  15. OK thought it was worth checking!
  16. Have you guys that are trying to install it updated to the latest patch 2.5.4.26368 first?
  17. Where did anyone suggest the date was going to change?
  18. Gotcha, not heard that one before!
  19. Yes I think so, I should have specified that limitation is for the F110 only.
  20. I don't think so, because A/B is prohibited for field takeoff too. I expect it's probably to do with the wide spacing of the powerful engines leading to a loss of control if you lost an engine, but that's a guess.
  21. You mean the deck is 290ft off the water? I don't think that's right!
  22. I thought the turn was inline with the back of the boat, not 9degrees past? I'd have thought that would put you too far back. I could be wrong... This is a good question. When I started trying Case I, breaking 1.5nm in front of the boat, I waited until straight and level on downwind to descend to 600ft also. As I brought this distance down to break at the bow, I found you don't really get any downwind, so I guess you have to descend in the break? I'm also not sure what the rules/proceedure for this is either and would like to know too.
  23. I see. You quoted quinncidence, and it was my interpretation that you were telling them off rather than commenting generally. If that wasn't your intention then I apologise.
  24. Pay attention and actually read what people are saying. The point was that giving a date upfront is preferable to saying a season, not that the date is still unclear.
