  1. By footstomp I assume you mean disagree? But where does what I say disagree with your view?! Seems like we're on the same page.
  2. Haha! I wish I could say I was being pedantic for the sake of it, but I honestly had no idea which one was 'correct' when I first looked it up. :book:
  3. I found this: https://www.cobham.com/mission-systems/air-to-air-refuelling/hose-and-drogue-systems/buddy-refuelling-pods/31-300-buddy-store-datasheet/docview/ Looks like it uses hydraulic oil.
  4. Soviet tactic means having more Migs than the US has AIM-54 :)
  5. There are two dates: astronomical and meteorological. This is what I found when I looked for the answer and had no idea which was the correct one. Maybe that makes me an idiot, but as I've said several times already, a date is far better as it removes any ambiguity. edit:// I was not the only one unsure of this either, IIRC.
  6. There are two dates for the end of winter, depending on which one you want to go by. Like I said it doesn't really bother me, but they weren't as clear as they could have been. That is all.
  7. Exact missile performance is indeed likely to be classified, but I'd argue that's not actually that relevant. The DLZ doesn't need to match the real missile, it needs to match the peformance of the missile that's modelled in DCS. ED know how their representation is modelled, so they should be able to do this. Hopefully that makes sense.
  8. Oh no don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy with HB and nor do I think HB are being unreasonable. My only view was that agreeing that 'Winter' is a bit vague and they should have gone with a date to start with. That is all.
  9. I have to confess I've not tried, but IIRC, if that works, it shouldn't. The ice detection probe is located upstream of the fan and in turn the bleed air providing inlet anti-ice. In otherwords, the inlet heat doesn't heat the detector; therefore the inlet ice warning (should) only tell you when icing conditions exists, not that the engines have been sufficiently heated themselves. I hope that makes sense. You'll also get a performance penalty for having anti-ice on too. You can change the Home waypoint to one closer to you, that might help.
  10. True, but it took a little time between HB saying 'Winter' and '21st March'. It would have saved a bit of confusion if they'd just given the date to start with.
  11. I'm not sure I understand this bit; are you saying you're adding throttle during the break, or when you're downwind/turning to final? If you're adding throttle during the break, that's why your orbits are so big. Throttle should be idle and speedbrake out. Yes, it's definitely a sim to do with as we each choose. If someone's struggling, either their proceedure or their technique (or sometimes even both) isn't right. IMO it's generally better in the long run to learn the correct proceedure and work on your technique than try to come up with a technique that works for the wrong proceedure. Assuming they want to, of course. Hopefully that makes sense!
  12. Because they drop the flaps in the break, where the pitch-up is less noticeable.
  13. Because it is. It's what you do for a Case I recovery, the topic of this thread.
  14. Sure. You'd need to do the same for a straight in for Case III, or perhaps an emergency scenario. I just question why when people here keep saying there's a more common and easier way, why keep persisting with the less common harder method. They certainly shouldn't blame the flight model until they've tried the published procedure.
  15. Sorry I'm going to be blunt here: what needs fixing is your flying. Fly the proper pattern and you won't get any problems.
  16. It drives a hydraulic pump which IIRC does indeed provide power for the fuel pump, as well as for extending/retracting the drogue.
  17. It's probably because the JHMCS is centred but, as the default view is slightly heads down, it gives the impression you've got to look up
  18. Thanks.
  19. Could you link please?
  20. Very good!
  21. Bigger planes also have bigger control surfaces though. Not saying you're wrong as a rule, just that it's not the whole story.
  22. I agree, but IMO it's a limitation of using a flat screen. I find it works really well in VR.
  23. Stop making it harder than it needs to be by lowering flaps when straight and level. Do it while banked, it's so much easier.
  24. Ah OK. Well in that case if they don't want to let YouTubers do it, they should get on with it themselves! :P
  25. ??? No start up, take off, landing, navigation, carrier ops, AA refueling, to name a few, have been covered in any meaningful detail (if at all).
