  1. Ah yeah, I mean the OP doesn't specify how big is too big - but even with those plates it'll still be a fair bit wider than a Cessna style set of pedals, that's all I'm saying.
  2. Sounds good, I'd buy it
  3. TACAN beacons transmit bearing and range information. While some aircraft (e.g. tankers) can carry a beacon, most aircraft using TACAN just have the "receiver" that can pick up the bearing/range info, and this (can) work(s) from 0 to 100+ miles I put receiver in brackets because the ranging portion of TACAN works by the 'receiving' aircraft actually transmitting to the TACAN beacon and waiting for the reply (the time taken allows range to be determined). Two aircraft with TACAN 'receivers' can tune to a Y channel 63 different channels out in A/A mode (e.g. 29Y and 92Y) which allows the receivers to provide range information to eachother. It does not however, give bearing info. This is still useful over relatively close (~1nm) distances to ensure proper spacing in combat formations.
  4. I have a pair and like them. They aren't small though, so might not work for the OP.
  5. Yes that's normal. It's actually easier to avoid this problem if you deploy flaps in the break. This is for carrier ops, but you can use the technique for airfields too.
  6. FF is basic engine operation only and doesn't include A/B. It'll be drinking more than that! Another quirk of the cat.
  7. Indeed there is. I've no idea why so many people on here are spoiling for a fight.
  8. Yes, and if people don't understand what they're getting for their money that decision will simply be to not buy. Dev misses out on a purchase, and customer misses out on a product they might otherwise enjoy. Totally unhelpful.
  9. Right. And Pudu is trying to make an informed decision. Your "buy it or don't buy it" response is helps no-one.
  10. Interesting. I can't see where to get hold of the server part though?!
  11. Thanks for the video! I'd love to see you commentary on a carrier landing, if that's something you're able to fit into a future video. If not, thanks again anyway!
  12. I don't think Memphis was denigrating anyone for their time on here, just trying help by using their experience to get someone new to relax.
  13. Holy... Cool it Raijin. Such extreme views just aren't necessary. Did HB cock up their PR? IMO yes, and there are definitely fanboys who have (tried) to stifle what I'd consider legitimate criticism who should accept some people are annoyed. But while HB's PR may solicit some negative feedback, there's no need for the pitchforks yet either.
  14. Hmm, yes I guess it's not definitive. I read "coming later this month" to mean we can fly it; I'd have thought they'd say "available to pre-order this month" otherwise, but I could be wrong!
  15. WHY CAN'T WE PRE-ORDER?! *throws money at screen*
  16. No. It holds your track across the ground, and that's it. Its only added sophistication over and above HDG is it'll compensate for any changes in wind.
  17. No. I've no problems with brakes on the carrier. This issue is to do with emergency brakes; and it's still an issue. I don't pretend this is high priory, but can we get some acknowledgement on this one? I actually think it used to work fine. :helpsmilie:
  18. Bet that you'll never win a bet, that way you can't lose
  19. Having watched several HUD view no flare landings it seems that, for whatever reason, even with a constant ~700fpm descent rate in the approach, the VSI jumps to 1000fpm+ during touchdown as per that image. As such I would be careful as using a still image like that as it may well not be representative of how hard the jet was really put down on the deck.
  20. You're supposed to think BEFORE you press the transmit button  Also, that's a nasty intercom if it has that much static. Squelch not found :P
  21. Kinda. Touchdown might be the same, but the stopping isn't. The Hornet is prohibited from carrier landings with a centre line tank with more than 500lbs in it. It might be the centre line pylon doesn't like to hold onto heavy objects during a rapid deceleration. Just a guess!
  22. A touch fast on landing! Good video, thanks.
  23. Isn't HI better for longer range / lower RCA targets, and if the target is beaming, MED is better? I could be wrong!
  24. I'm guessing you mean velocity vector / flight path marker, rather than meatball? It's tricky, but try practicing without the HUD. If the meatball appears to move, correct as necessary then hold that attitude. I do this by referencing the horizon against the HUD's frame, keeping it steady. Repeat until the ball is centred and not moving. If you drop gear/flaps during the break you shouldn't get any occilation, you just modulate the back pressure a bit. Are you doing this while straight/level?
