  1. How about waiting to see how it's done before we even consider passing judgement?!
  2. Ah thank you!
  3. Yep, that gave me a headache. :helpsmilie:
  4. Sadly, I've seen qualified pilots fall into that trap.
  5. The '19 is due this month, so if there's going to be a pre-order they've not got long to arrange it!
  6. Target altitude is not the variable we're questioning, it's target altitude reference.
  7. Is the pattern of entry really important compared to the total time taken though? The point is, before saying it's all too slow, is considering that this isn't necessarily as simple as just punching in the numbers.
  8. Have you checked your controls to see if it's assigned as an axis?
  9. Ah but where is the RIO getting the co-ordinates from? You're assuming they're reading them as text. If they've got to read them off a chart first, is it really that slow? *lobs hand grenade*
  10. What are you on about? 'Early access issue' is an totally meaningless undefinable fudge. Extremist non-sense laying blame solely on customers is totally unhelpful. For the early access model to work well devs need to be spot on with their comms and customers need to have some patience. Both sides have failed to an extent, so try to contribute an adult discussion on how to improve things instead of ponting the finger.
  11. What's the target alt reference about? Does that mean BARO, GPS derived etc?
  12. Pay attention. I didn't say it was totally safe, I said it isn't particularly hazardous in a solid lump. Your example isn't exactly a strong counter-point to the contrary either.
  13. Isn't the 23rd the next OB schedule date? That's when the Christen Eagle comes out.
  14. DU isn't particularly hazardous in a solid lump like that.
  15. It seems there are three components to the artificial feel in pitch: simple spring tension (like we typicaly have in a desktop stick, although probably quite a bit stiffer) that resists stick deflection from centre, bob weights that add resistance to aft stick as you pull to prevent excessive sustained G, and the eddy current dampers that resist rapid movement to prevent excessive instantanious G. While G isn't specifically monitored, Deano is saying there certainly are mechanisms there to prevent exceedances. Whether you can be strong enough to overcome them is up for debate I guess, but would be pilot dependent at any rate.
  16. I bloody well hope not, or my wife is secretly very disapointed!
  17. I probably won't fly it that much, but purchased without hesitation anyway. Anything that temps the (much larger) civvy audience to try DCS is good in my book too.
  18. That's your opinion. If Greg doesn't want to risk the grief we should accept that; he doesn't owe us anything (in fact we should be appreciative we got to see the videos at all).
  19. No, but I don't want vapourform job either ;) Does that make me impatient? Probably, but I am happy to admit that, so there you are!
  20. Argh, this partnership was teased over a year ago and it's STILL this far off
  21. 30 seconds to look up the Huey on the DCS store:
  22. Here's what NATOPS has to say about those modes. I don't know anything else about them, but by the sound of it VEC/PCD will have no use in DCS, at least for now, as someone else would have to send the commands to your plane (assuming I understand correctly).
  23. Those adjustment plates only take 50mm off the width. Seriously I'm just trying to help by pointing out they're quite wide, what's the matter with you?
  24. I would hope they've not given up. It seems the technical challenges are far greater where you're actually sharing cockpit sitting side by side and can click on the same switches. The F14 doesn't have this issue at least.
