  1. So mostly happy new owner, thanks Spuma for the guide, made setup a snap. One problem VrNecksafer, I was using it before, but now all it does is displace me under the plane looking backwards... Any knowledge here how to get it to work? Also I can't seem to get openXr working for DCS. using the force-openXR command. I am running this through steam though. I've gotten openXr working with my G2 before so do I have to set it up that way to get it work with the aero. Mostly because XrNecksafer does seem to work in MSFS. However point control doesn't.
  2. You must learn to think in French...
  3. So, one of the things I love about the F1 is the damage model, and the progressive failures. Is there some sort of guide/procedures that can be used to minimize damage from spreading? I.e. like a Hyd1 fail, what do I do with that, can I shut things off? etc. Also I noticed the engine modeling of certain "bad things happening" unstarts etc, or the electrical systems stuff seems to have gone missing from the sim?
  4. And you guys don't have any legal rights for this or recourse?
  5. I have no idea what that is but that sucks, there isn't some way to protect the IP or copyright it tho?
  6. I mean we have a pretty decent J-10A mod in DCS. And I think thats about as far as its gonna go anytime soon IMO.
  7. IDK, I'm expecting a chinese plane with F16A avionics circa the mid/late 80's. How did that happen?
  8. Cuz ED can claim the docs aren't russian. Its a polite fiction, but if you look at the russian espionage laws its ok for docs to move into russia, just not out of russia. Plus there is a distinction between "soviet" and "russian".
  9. Naval Flanker would be hawt. But it aint happenen.
  10. IDK I figure if it happens it will be a german/polish etc "model" cuz ED can claim no russian docs were used, and maybe like BST type shell company.
  11. The early APG-66 versions were pretty basic, mostly for SA. TWS was on some very late models but not what we want. You can see the old style "nad gazer" radar in this vid along with the non MPCD SMS page. This is the Viper of the 80's. What about if a 3rd party wanted to do it?
  12. Lel that looks very familiar.
  13. Spo-10 only worked from 1-8ghz... pretty sure both the AWG9 and Phoenix were higher. Also is the 52nm or whatever it is TWS launch limitation modeled now?
  14. Yup. Cold war is the future cuz there are plenty of planes and plenty of docs so systems can be modeled with a high degree of fidelity vs modern modules which are "a guess".
  15. Well if you have a 4090, it has to double as space heater so you can afford to play...
  16. In theory yes. And IMO ED is gonna pull like BST kinda deal to do the 29 if they end up doing it and its likely gonna be an export 29. Which sorta sucks because some sensor stuff will be degraded if they model it right. But oh well.
  17. Yeah all those are cold war era. Nothing modern coming for red as the Su-27 seems off limits for basically everyone. Maybe Deka can make up a J-10 which systems wise should be close to the current JF17.
  18. Thanks for trying to get this figured out. IDK if the shadows thing on ECW might also be a clue, but what happens there is when you are looking at the front line after a while the CPU frametimes get absurdly bad in VR. Like 50ms+ while the GPU frametimes are lik 5-7ms. However at the start of the mission the CPU frametimes are like 10-15ms. The interesting bit is if you turn off shadows entirely those 50ms CPU frametimes return to the normal 10-15ms. GPU frametimes are steady at like 5-7ms regardless. I think the game is trying to shade all those non-existent/not despawned objects.
  19. Ultimately, this is why Cold War will become the dominant center of gravity for DCS, there are tons of planes to model on both sides, they are out of service therefore accessible. And lets be honest, that the cold war period is something ED can likely actually do a good job of modeling in terms of stuff other than just planes. And from the multiplayer perspective the cold war era actually was relatively balanced.
  20. Yeah honestly this is the map I'd want most in DCS. Hell you kill 2 birds with one stone by adding the northern bit of saudi to it for DS91, 2003, and the iran iraq war. Maybe run it as far north as Amarah to keep the map size reasonable.
  21. The point is for mulitplayer PVP servers you need some level of balance and symmetry. Modern online servers are basically blue on blue and this will only get worse as more and more modern blue jets get done for whatever reason. Its my general opinion no one is modeling the modern stuff in DCS all that well, due to lack of data, my favorite whipping boy is the typhoon for that. Compare that to the cold war jets that you generally speaking have a decent amount of documentation on things like, the jet, the radar, the missiles, ground assets and so forth, as well as having doctrinal pubs. I frankly see the chinook that ED is making, maybe some sort of marketing ploy to try to sell a modern helo "simulator" to govt clients actually. That or they already have a contract for it. Because if you really think about it older variants saw far more historical use and relevance. Which IMO is the versions that should get made. Same comment on C130. I will likely be buying neither at this point, and its increasingly true for stuff thats coming to DCS. And I'll be the first to say I would be far more interested in older versions of them. Yup totally agreed. And honestly I am excited for the Tornado even if it is a slightly later variant than I would like. Well, its not really a "problema" we get whatever 9.12 variant we get, and I'm betting it will be the export version due to the <profanity>ty world situation for ED at this point. Honestly I'm not sure the downgraded systems are all that much worse really.
  22. Yup. This will be the future like it or not, but Devs and ED for whatever reason are way too enamored with the latest greatest most irrelevant versions of planes and helos, maybe MFD's are easier to code than steam gauges but I kinda doubt it. I mean I think I called it when I said they would model a "western" mig29... Guess what was featured in the 2023 video... Polish mig29... Western sources...
  23. I was quite fortunate because my case had a fair amount of room so I didn't have to bend the adapter much at all, but not everyone has the luxury. I've also heard some PSU manufacturers are making whole cables that are PCIE direct to the card so you skip the adapter don't have to worry as much.
  24. Point them to the MP server Engimas cold war... Have them check performance with the baseline control ~within 1h of reset (server resets every 4h) And then after like 2-3 hours of play. What they will see in VR is the following (shadows on) CPU frame times right after reset are "normal" ~15ms CPU render time After 2-3 hrs this will rise to 30-40ms when looking toward the "frontline" (this is terrible like 20fps in VR) However if you turn off the shadow sharers in VR, it returns to normal ~15ms... So something in 2.8 broke shadow sharers when looking at large numbers of "objects" that presumably aren't being cleaned up
  25. Have you seen the community VR hud upgrayde?
