correct as is F-15C Structual wing surface failure.
Cab replied to LT_STARBUCK_107's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Yes, that does cause confusion. But I am referencing the F2 Info Bar and Tacview, not the cockpit display. I assume they both are displaying actual degrees since they are both labeled as such. -
The F-4 video I about wore to death in the VCR

What a beast. Now we just need Magnitude to finish the F-8 Crusader. -

Sorry, other than my admittedly subjective assertions above, I really don’t have anything else to add here. I’ll patiently wait for a real Eagle Driver to weigh in. -

First, my question to you is, have you really watched the DCS F-15's being flown by the competent players on the dogfight servers? To answer your question, no, it goes beyond just AOA. But yes, it is just my subjective opinion, based on what I believe to be a good working knowledge of how real jets fly, that the DCS F-15 BFM performance is not realistic. However, I am willingly to be persuaded otherwise by someone with actual experience. Someone who has either flown the F-15 or against it. -

Has it been done? Sure. Can it do it regularly without departing flight? I don't think so. I think you'd be hard pressed to find RL pilots saying that was within the normal operational flight envelope. Regardless, there is no way the DCS F-15 performance capabilities on BFM servers reflects reality. -

Yes, I have seen it spike to that on both the Info Bar and Tacview. It isn't common, but the "superstars" on the Dogfight servers have achieved that. -

With regard to wings breaking in game, my impression has been it was to limit jets like the F-15 from over-performing rather than mimic reality. Afterall, even with the current "structural limitations" a skilled DCS F-15 player can routinely maneuver at 13g's and 40 degrees AOA, and that is well beyond the F-15's real-life capabilities. -
My impression at the time was that the use of "F/A" was more of a marketing gimmick than anything else, considering how many previous aircraft were also "multirole" in practice. That was just my opinion though

Choose the new name for WSO AI. It can't be Jester anymore

“Chuck” for the F-4E and “Irish” for the Naval variant. -
The Cold War servers are about to become even more interesting

WTF, dude. Are you the question police? This is a "forum". His request for feedback/opinion from other players was no different than thousands of other posts here.

PAR, ASR, TACAN. In other aircraft, VOR, VOR/LOC, RNAV. ILS is just one of many options. You're not listening.

This is not true

I don't think any communication between pilot and RIO is necessary. The rules for visor up/visor down are pretty well known by everyone: 1. Camera moves in for close up - visor up 2. Engaging an enemy or ground target - visor down 3. Destroying enemy target/pulling off target - Visor up (also accompanied by yanking off O2 mask)
-
Don't hesitate to pull back some throttle after you're airborne to help control your acceleration.

I'm willing to give the French this one. I get the fact that they would be used for stability control, but looking at the video below at half speed it seems they are used pitch, too: It looks like the canards (foreplanes, whatever) behave exactly as one would expect for pitch control. First, LE up for lift at rotation, then LE down as the pilot levels out for the cool, low transition. The mod does not do this. Thoughts?

Is the canard animation correct for pitch? I noticed when I pitch up the canard leading edge goes down, and when I pitch down it goes up.

Optional team balance. Not saying you wrote anything wrong, I just to make sure everyone understands that part.
-
All valid points except I don't really believe this forum thread can determine the market for such an option. Also, I really don't have anything particular in mind because I don't run a server, and I am genuinely confused why that doesn't make sense to some people. I did offer that at least one server admin has posted a rule in the briefing to keep the teams balanced, so there's at least one who would likely use it if it suited his needs.
-
Sure it's a valid question, but I also think mine is a valid answer: My suggestions don't matter because this is something only the server admins would use. My only role as a player is to decide which servers I join. I'd tell ED to canvas the server admins to see if there is even a desire for such an option. Then, ask them what they want and determine if the LOE is worth it.
-
Keep waiting because my opinion doesn't count because I don't have a server. I'd rather hear from actual server admins as to: 1. Is that a capability they would want; and 2. What type of balance control would they like to exercise. In fact I'd go so far to say that the only opinions that count are those that would actually use the option. A negative answer would only mean the server admin would chose not to use it. Optional does mean "not compulsory".
-
Upset? No, not upset. Just astounded at the attitude. But thanks for your honestly (I think).
-
I don't know. I didn't write that rule. But obviously it's something the server admin had in mind. Do you think maybe ED should ask him? So you get to dictate how a person can run their own server? That sounds harsh. How about a compromise and you just don't play on those servers that are doing it so wrong.
