This stuff is a bit on the expensive side but works well. 'Granulate' is like sand paper. Rubber is much nicer long term. TALON Grips DIY 5" x 7" Material Sheet (talongungrips.com)

I have flown this 5-6 times and keep getting results = 0 and score = 0. What are the requirements to win this mission? I get the message target is destroyed. This last flight I even followed the waypoints through every point instead of using tacan to skip a waypoint and take a shortcut back to the Stennis.

Roosterfeet, thank you.

Somewhat related question. When looking at the F10 map is there a way to get a compass rose to show up and maybe be able to center it over the plane symbol. Currently I just guess at a heading assuming the map is north is up. Most of the airfields in the Caucuses map have tacan but the PG map has few if any tacan.

I have been flying the DCS FA-18 for about 2 years now and I am having an absolute blast. I don't care when the EA is done or if it is done. I am thrilled to have this plane as is now and knowing it will be getting better is icing on the cake. Thanks ED.

MAXsenna, thank you very much. I am not much of a PC guy, I just do what I need to but, w/ your help, I got the Civil Objects loaded and then it asked for Civil Aircraft. Got that loaded too. Now the campaign works great. Even got to follow a 'Follow Me' truck to my parking spot at the end of the first mission. Thank you, thank you.

I will try this. Thanks.

Good question. When I go through user, saved games, me, dcs there is no mods, tech folder. So I go through program files, Eagle Dynamics, DCS world, and then there is a mods, tech folder so that is where I put it. The instructions say to go the first route but it doesn't have the folder. So I thought maybe the instructions were older and no longer valid.

I downloaded and installed 'Interceptor' campaign. Try to fly it and it says I need Civil objects. So I find that in user files, download and unzip. But it won't let me unzip directly to DCS/mods/tech. I unzip to my documents folder then copy/paste to tech. Try to fly the campaign and DCS pops up a window something about it is not authorized and will be disabled so of course the campaign won't load. Ideas please.

Campaign INTERCEPTOR - English edition
CBStu replied to Ala12Rv-Birdman's topic in User Created Missions General
Can you post the pdf w/ instructions please. When I try to open the download it is all in some computer language I can't read. -
Yes flaps do move kind of slowly. When I am on the carrier and setting trim for weight I have to hold the switch for maybe 2 seconds to see a one degree change in STAB angle.

VFR airfield overhead pattern landing question
CBStu replied to Double Dutch's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I have my trim 4 way set to pitch and roll (ailerons) rather than pitch and yaw (rudder). Pitch trim sets the VV in the 'E' bracket and that is all it does. BTW you can use one of the carrier missions to practice a straight in landing. Just don't bother w/ the radio coms or anything other than your flying. The icls really helps to let you know how you are doing. I did 100s of straight in carrier traps before I tried doing a pattern trap or a pattern field landing. If you are doing a straight in approach, you have to be careful you don't trim too soon. As you are dropping speed, gear down at just under 250, and flaps down at about 180. If you drop flaps above 180 you will gain altitude. Once gear and flaps are down you can start to bring in some up trim to get centered in the 'E' but don't bring in too much trim too fast or you will go above glide slope. Once on AOA w/ 'E' centered, throttle controls altitude/glide slope but stick controls left/right lineup w/ the runway.- 13 replies

Bankler, thank you, thank you. The previous versions are working just fine. I appreciate your effort very much,

Chucks Guide has a section on how he recommends mapping his hotas. I have seen others also but don't remember where. I just do my own. Some times, as I have progressed, I change things around. About 6 months ago I got a new stick which has more 4 way hats so I moved stuff and a month later moved a few functions again as I found the switches are similar but not duplicates. So one switch works more easily w/ a particular function. I just saw this thread; Complete HOTAS Guide - DCS: F/A-18C Hornet - ED Forums (eagle.ru)

I think it was as simple as no SEQ1 boxed. I was having this problem in a campaign where it's an air start and a lot of the plane controls etc are pre-set. So I missed the usual setup I do myself and never noticed that SEQ1 was not boxed. I feel like an idiot but thanks guys for the help.

No problem. You have been a big help in several threads so one tiny error is no big deal.

Uh, I am. This is page 23 of the thread you linked.

Now I have a problem. Still on 2.56 but thought I'd download the latest version like I have been doing. It loads the mission to about 3/4 and then pops up a window about it being newer than the editor version, proceed at your own risk. Hit the OK button and it completely locks up DCS and I have to go to the Task Manager to shut down DCS. I wasn't sure this was a problem specific to this mission so posted in the general FA-18 section. The thinking there is I can't run a mission created in 2.7 using 2.56. One poster said try opening it in the Mission Editor in 2.56 and then saving it. Same thing exactly. Same popup and need Task Manager. Unfortunately, I deleted my previous version before finding this problem. If the above seems like a good explanation to you, could you provide the older version that will work in 2.56 please? I am not sure how long it will be before 2.7 becomes the stable version. I'd prefer the supercarrier version but I always do an air start so that isn't real important to me. Thank you.

Tried opening in the Mission Editor and same thing. Green bar goes about 3/4 and stops and I get the same popup. Will check in w/ Bankler.
-
Random...no I don't have the older version. I learned a lesson here I guess -don't delete the old one until confirming the new one works. I am not real well versed w/ the mission editor but will give that a try. Nothing to lose. Thanks for the idea.

So to make sure I understand, I have been flying Bankler for maybe 2 years now, and have downloaded updated versions along the way. A week or two ago I did the same thing and now it doesn't work. There are 3 versions now and I downloaded the most basic one, no supercarrier or T-45. It sounds like they are all created in 2.7 and I won't be able to fly again until 2.7 becomes the stable version?

I will check later today. Thanks for the ideas.

Not sure what happened but the SA page no longer has dashed lines between waypoints. This is a real pain for me as I used to be able to zoom in to maybe 20nm scale, and even if the next waypoint is off the screen, I could make my turn based on the dashed line. Ideas guys?

I try to fire up Bankler and get a popup window while it is loading. "This mission is newer than this editor. Please use a more recent editor version or continue at your own risk." with an OK button to click. So I click it and I can't 'continue' because DCS is locked up. I have to go to Task Manager to shut down DCS. Still on 2.56 and this is a new download of the Legacy version of Bankler's. This started last week and my thought was delete and reload Banklers but that hasn't helped. I have no idea an 'editor' is in this context.

Not sure the proper term for the light(s). It may be more than one but at distance, say 6-7 miles, it looks like one that changes red or green and flashing or solid. My technique for a straight in lineup is to use the ICLS. I have the circle to the right of the vertical line and to the right of the boat until under a mile out. At .6-.7mile I start to let the circle move over to the deck but it isn't centered on the deck till .2-.3mile. This compensates for the fact that the boat is moving to our right as we approach it. If I center the ICLS any sooner I end up aimed at the deck but approaching from the left.
