1. Me too. As dim as I can stand it otherwise the boat disappears behind the bright lines/circle. Have you noticed the light down on the rear of the boat below the deck that indicates lineup?
2. The slew on the Warthog throttle has always been a bit of a problem. There is a replacement switch that apparently makes it easier to operate. But it is made and sold by someone in another country. You have to provide your credit card when you order, and some time later will get your new switch. I am not comfortable doing that but there are a lot of people who have bought it w/o problem. My solution was to get a stick w/ more 4 way + push buttons. I use the one on the stick for Mavs and the pod FLIR and the one on the throttle for the radar.
3. Ah, got it. Thx.
4. Does it hit it's target? If it does why worry about whether it lofts or not?
5. I go nearly to full throttle and right back to idle. It feels like there are two stops. The first one is a firm stop. Then it feels like it moves another 8 inches and hits a super solid stop. When I first tried it, the thrust would get it to the first stop, but not the second. Thats why I crank it up so much.
6. I am surprised that neither the OP or others are using ICLS. Why not? This is at 3/4 mile out on a practice straight in approach. 3 4 mile out by craig stuard, on Flickr The vertical ICLS line can be picked up from maybe 9-10 miles out and pretty far off correct lineup. The horizontal line doesn't show to about 6 miles out.
7. I will do that Glynn. To tell you the truth I am not sure what I opened. I downloaded it a while ago, tried immediately to fly it, and don't remember having a choice as to which version. That might just be my old brain. But ever since, it always opens the same so I bet I opened the wrong version. W/ your explanation that makes perfect sense. I will do a ticket. Thanks for your help.
8. I had been having trouble getting launched in SH2 for quite a while. I have the SuperCarrier but when the mission launches it looks like the old carrier w/ no deck crew anywhere. So I thought I would delete it and re-install it. When I go to the E-Shop it tells me I already own it. Tried to figure how to re- install it but no luck. So I figure what the heck, it's just $10 so I will purchase it again. Then I see Operation Pontus and decide to buy it first. Buy, it, install it no problem. Go back and purchase SH2. Fire up DCS and there comes a small red dot over the Module Manager symbol. Good. Click MM and SH2 is no where to be found. Messed around yesterday evening and again this AM and still can't figure how to re-install SH2. In MM it doesn't not show up in DLC, in 'Installed', or anywhere. I am on Stable 2.6. I have the Super Carrier which works fine in other campaigns. Any of you have an idea how I can re-install it?
9. Glad you found the problem.
10. Well I stand corrected. Feeling kind of dumb. I flew some yesterday after my post above and found my error. Way back maybe 1.5 yrs ago learning the Hornet I saw a youtube tutorial where the guy did the yoyo string thing and I have been using it ever since. Except on the radio channel selector knobs where I scroll the mouse wheel. I have no idea why I hadn't tried scrolling any of the other knobs. Thanks for bringing up this subject because I sure learned something.
11. Glyn that is great news. This is so nice being able to interact w/ the campaign developer. Thanks again.
12. I just use my mouse. Left click lowers the bar and right click raises it. Brain fart, maybe I have that reversed.
13. Most knobs are rotated by hover over them until the symbol appears, right click and hold and then move your pointer away. I think of it like it's a yoyo, pull the string and the yoyo rotates.
14. Oh crap, another known issue?
15. I agree. I am on stable so haven't gotten 2.7 yet but, I would rather Ed spend their time fixing things that don't work correctly, than on options from airplane versions other than the one we have.
16. I see the same, intermittent no mouse pan in F2. Haven't bothered to try to figure out the cause.
17. For me it has been the FA-18 all the way. I love the challenge of carrier operations.
18. If you are not worried about radio comms, LSO etc, you could take off from the carrier in nearly any of the included missions. Fly maybe 1.5 miles from the boat, leave flaps and gear alone, keep speed at <200 and make a 180 deg turn to the left. Once on the downwind, go to full flaps and get set on AOA at 600 ft. As long as you are at the correct distance from the boat as you fly abeam you will be where you want to be w/ only an extra couple minutes of flying.
19. Glyn I can certainly understand the 'response from a none event' thing. I have been flying the FA-18 for a little over 2 years flying all provided missions in Caucusus and PG maps. Maybe 3-4 months ago I downloaded my first campaign and haven't looked back. So much fun. Even though I had a lot of trouble w/ this mission, I do want to say that I really, really enjoyed the campaign. My hat is off to you and other campaign authors. Thanks for all the work you put in so we can have fun.
20. I see that is how it worked after I hit both. But if I fire both Mavs and take out just one, I don't think I was told anything. So what to do? I just headed back the way I came. And, way to late to do anything about it, I was notified I failed the mission because I missed one.
21. Finally. I got it. Flew it twice this AM and the second time I made it. A suggestion, based on my several failures, would be to tighten up the notification when one of the APC's is missed. There are 2 APCs and 2 MavEs so not much room for error. The three times I missed one I wasn't told about it until almost to waypoint 3 and that was the same notification where I was told I failed the mission. Had I been notified earlier, I could have tried it w/ the gun. Also in an overall sense, I don't think sending one plane on this mission and requiring hitting 100% of the targets is very realistic. I would think that blowing the stadium, killing one of two APCs, and killing the chopper, could be rated a success.
22. I discovered campaigns maybe 3 months ago and have been having a blast until....I am now in my second campaign that I have stalled out in. First was about 10 missions into a 12 mission campaign. Now it's the 4th mission in a 10(?) mission campaign. In both I have flown the stall mission >10 times and can't get a win. So I am stuck. I can see that there is some slight justification, and I could certainly understand if this were real life training, for doing it this way. But I am not happy at all. In the current campaign I won mission 3 easily on my first try but mission 4???????? I would like to see either; - you get a pass after 5(?) attempts, even if there is some negative notation put in your logbook - a clickable button that I can use to move on. I look at this as I would other pursuits. If I can win 8 of 10 missions, I have learned something. I will remember the 2 losses, but I think that as my overall skill increases, I would come back and try them. When I was flying just the DCS provided missions there were a lot of them I couldn't get through. So I went to others. As my skills increased, I often went back. Some times I really had to force my self, but I realized I needed to master that skill so I did the work. But right now, I completely blew up the main target, and then there were 2 escaping trucks. My two MavEs got one truck and missed the other. So now for lack of one dang truck, I am stuck and can't fly the remaining 6(?) missions. So what do you guys think? Should some type of 'move on' be included in campaigns?
23. Ziptie, thank you once again. In one particular mission I have been flying a lot recently the switching between SA and HSI page is going to be really helpful. I usually have SA on the AMPCD but HSI comes in handy for certain tasks so I usually replace the radar or stores screen w/ HSI for a short time. This will be a lot easier. Dang, there are so many nuances to this plane and this chart shows a lot of them.
24. I don't spend much time looking at the back of my plane so it's fine as is for me.
25. Thanks Glyn. I will get this yet. BTW, I am not clear on where to return to once I finally make all the hits. Tublisi or the boat?
