Wags update: F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs Update
EtherealN replied to 159th_Falcon's topic in Chit-Chat
Landings were displayed since it has been one of the most common (and justified) complaints about the SFM. -
Wags update: F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs Update

Differential braking: break more on left than on right. (Or opposite.) It's not a button, it's a lever, allowing control over the braking force, but said braking force is evenly distributed over all gear. Compare to toebrakes, where the braking force on each side is controlled independently. -

Yeah, it's hard to do differential braking when you have just a single stick handle to perform the braking with. :) -
Define damaging? If you mean visible damage shown to you, the player, sure; to the player you'll currently only see either "alive", or "burning" (and then) "exploding". But that doesn't mean there are no things between those! In such a scenario where one goes out of action and the other looks unharmed, it is actually likely to have suffered damage (think of it like some HitPoints being deducted) which in turn will reduce it's weapon accuracy, detection ranges etcetera. How severe the effect is depends on the amount of damage done, which depends on the force applied and where it was applied on (same as how you should attack with GAU-8 from rear and high, because armor is weaker there, meaning less rounds required to do fatal damage).

Where can I get the A-10C 1.2.6.18933 installer?

Oops, I need to lay off the multitasking. :P

Have you tried redeeming the key on Steam yet? Worth a try. If it isn't valid, you can indeed get it working faster through downloading Steam from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com, but if you have the patience for it, your key should work in steam in the start of next month. (Serial dumps to Valve are commited typically in the first few days of each month.)

Skulleader: google "Orbx"

Megatexture is a completely different thing. Megatexture streams compressed pseudo-textures that will never "repeat". It works for corridor-shooters like Rage given the right compute and storage resources, but is not what we are talking about here. Especially since clips deal with mesh primarily. Megatexture is textures-only.
-
Yes. :P Basically, Tesselation takes a low-detail mesh and makes it more detailed through interpolation. Clipmaps takes a high-detail mesh and reduces detail at longer distances where the high detail is not needed. Sort of. There is overlap.

Size != download.

Or 1.85620677 × 10^40 by 1.85620677 × 10^40 Planck lenghts.

Clipmaps are used.

https://maps.google.com/ Enter: 36.186659,-115.137577 (Alternatively type "Las Vegas" into search field.) Zoom out, compare. Very difficult. :)

It shows exactly which area is covered. A question people have been asking. Now you know. If you prefer not to be given such information, feel free not to read announcements. ;)

MiG-29 6DOF cockpit in the works?
EtherealN replied to Kenan's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Su-27 in FC3 is Su-27S, not SM. R-77 is not operational in the RuAF, and never was operational. There were tests. AIM-54 and MIM-104 (PAC3) have both been tested on F-15C. Neither went operational. Su-27S should have R-77's the same way F-15C should have AIM-54's and Patriots, or the Ka-50 have Iglas and Archers. Non-russian Su-27 variants purchasing export R-77's could get to be a different story, when and if they are modeled. Russia itself decided not to bother with the R-77 as-is and instead worked on the RVV-series of missiles, which are also not yet operational with the RuAF. This is a very old discussion. :) The solution is simple; have RuAF or Suchoi do an ANG. :) -
DCS: 688 Attack Sub. ...should be made to include vintage graphics inspired by the Amiga classic. :)

I'll PM you my e-mail adress, you can save the report to a zip archive and send it through that. Your serial numbers checks out as correct. My spontaneous guess would be a mistake of either of two types: 1) Regarding Black Shark, the mistake of installing the wrong version. Your key will not work on the module named "Update". See this picture: If it says "Upgrade" in the highlighted field, you have accidently installed the wrong version installed. 2) Mistakes in entering product serial number belonging to for example A-10C while the activation is actually requested for Black Shark 2. (Visible same place.) If neither of these are what is happening, it definitely merits a closer look. In that case, please inform me via the e-mail the exact text of the error message you get on activation.

Excellent. Sorry for the inconvenience; it is the recurring conundrum of whether to halt deployment through autoupdater until installers are tested to ensure a uniform deployment, which at first glance looks attractive, but also means that everyone ends up having to wait longer than desired for something that they could theoretically already have on their machines.

Do this: Press start, and in the Run/search field type "cmd" and press enter. Navigate to the installation directory, for example like this: CD PROGRAM FILES\EAGLE DYNAMICS\DCS WORLD\BIN\ Press enter (Note, if you installed DCS World somewhere else, change accordingly) Then type: DCS_Updater.exe update 1.2.6.18651 (or whichever version it is you have an installer for) When complete, run your installer. Once installed, run DCS world as per normal. New versions get up on autoupdate quicker than installer, since installers have to be built and tested manually. EDIT: Skatezilla made a guide here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030

Checklist: 1) You are 100% sure you are actually entering your CD key? Some people accidently paste in their order number and similar. 2) You are 100% sure that you are entering the serial number for the correct correct product? Note that it will ask for activation on all products that are installed but not yet activated; not only the aircraft you are starting at that time. You can see here: 3) To get your hardware code, simply press "other" in the activation box. If activating A-10C, this can be seen on page 5 through 7 of the quickstart manual, including a screengrab below otherwise: Process is identical for the other modules. However, do note that if it rejects the key itself as erroneous, getting the hardware code will not be of assistance. As is, I am a bit confused about what exactly it is you are trying to achieve. If you have a support ticket registered, please give me the ticket number and I can look in there.

You can use a manually retrieved hardware code to activate a computer that is not connected to the internet. You do this through obtaining the hardware code and then using some other, internet-connected, medium towards obtaining an activation. This can be achieved either through e-mail (which goes to ED customer support for manual activation and return), or yourself through the SF website. Detailed information about that is present in the Quickstart Manuals included in your installation.

And this, good people, is a classic study of "how to overanalyze simple things"... ;)

Yes, for LAN play you should have the key on a second account to allow the second computer to run it, since you cannot be logged in on the same account on two machines at the same time. However, you can fix this easily through going to this page and hitting unlink on the appropriate serial number: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/myserials.php Just make sure to doublecheck that you are unlinking the correct one. (It won't change activation data or anything if you do it wrong, just might get confusing.) After unlink, it will be assigned to the first account that uses it in multiplayer, so after the unlink you can just log into multiplayer on your child's machine once, using the account they will be using, and then you will be set.
