I have 12900K , and i would urge you to buy a 12700k or even 12600k For gaming you really don't need EIGHT 'efficiency' cores. I've also tested with some clockspeeds. Overclocking all cores to 5,3 ghz (overclocking these is a ***** btw) and comparing to 5,1 ghz, i got a frame MORE with the latter setting. And just so you know , they CPU was not throttling. Even in DCS, which appears to be not multithreaded a lot, and also likes high clcokspeed, you're still going to be GPU limited even with a 3090. I've also tested turning OFF the "E" cores completely. (i'm on windows 11). It makes 0 difference in FPS. Not only in DCS but also in Cyberpunk 2077 (a relatively new title). Maybe if you like to encode video's while gaming these "e" cores come in handy, or when you're streaming or something ? But honestly, i'd just use a seperate small PC for streaming. I'm sure the windows 11 scheduler does something but for gaming only ,,.. eh. Just save the 300 bucks more you'd have to spend on the 12900 vs the 12700 and stick 'm in the graphics card. As for performance gain over the 9900K , (i had the 8700K at 5,2 ghz) , nothing really. Maybe 2 ms in frametiming in VR. ? Not even sure because i copied my settings but not sure if you steam VR % is the same. Cyberpunk, RdR2 , few frames more maybe. CSGO , 400 fps, or 450 fps, it's ... not really important. You can brag about your cinebench scores on forums though, except most scores are in the same ballpark anyway because there's no skill in overclocking anymore at all So, if you're expecting windows 11 to dramatically boost your gaming experience , well it won't , at all. A shiny 3080 or 3080 ti however, will.

I understand you enjoy your ECM shield while your own aircraft is completely immune to all ECM. However, it's been 3 years now.

G.skill seems only one sofar that is sending some higher speed sticks every now and then. 470 seems insane but not even that bad in this market.

Well if you didn't overclcok it yourself it's probably not overclocked. But i think you should run a stress test to see if your system is stable or not. That way you know if it's your PC or DCS. Try something like Prime 95, it's a very small free program that stresses your computer. Is your PC overclocked at all ? I just recently went to windows 11 myself, going to test now but your post does not make me hopeful There was one thing that caused me a lot of headaches, the "HAGS" setting in windows. It is enabled by default in windows 11, and stands for "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling". It didn't work at all with VR and maybe that goes for 2D as well. The setting is in "settings > screen > advanced graphical settings" (or thereabouts). I turned it off

Good news everyone! It was HAGS. I can not explain to you the hatred i feel for re-installing windows. I almost smashed my VR goggles i am not joking. And DCS , why you so old ? Get with the program PLEASE

For me it was "HAGS" ... (hardware accelerated gpu scheduling). DCS so old it can not deal with newer features. Turn it off.

Nobody an idea why either the VR software or DCS make my computer use full power when Alt-tabbed and throttle when in game ?

Windows 11 yes, but HP G2 . When i'm alt-tabbed out and look around it's smooth in the headset. Then when i 'alt-tab' back in the game, my GPU and CPU usage is decreased and i get this weird crap as you see on the left side of the picture. edit* I used to have this sometimes in windows 10 as well. This would be fixed with a reboot. Not this time though, doesn't work.

So when i'm alt-tabbed and look around in headset it's all smooth. Then when i go back in game , DCS cuts the power to my GPU and i get this weird crap on the left. I have no idea what to do. Please help i'm about to break some stuff.

Yes now that i think about bombs hitting moving targets it makes sense.

Was watching a tacview. I see someone fire an amraam, and it runs out of juice. It is basically hanging still in the air with almost no speed left. The second amraam fired from the same aircraft went after the first amraam instead of the aircraft behind it. I'm surprised the amraam could even see the other (mach 0.16 ? or something) amraam. Again i must note that both amraams were fired from the same aircraft, so they were both traveling in the same direction. So not even towards eachother. I've also seen amraams go after sidewinders. They're super small. It is kind of weird at the moment.

It's been so quiet on this front i would expect at least another year.

Well even with a top end cpu and GPU it's still quite bad performance wise if you compare the graphics between 2d and VR.

I am waiting for some high speed DDR5 before i start building. (Trident Z5 6400 CL36 or something similar). But it's nice to have the other parts lying around and not fret about supply. Got to keep them in the closet though because i really want to start putting it all together Not in hopes for better performance in DCS btw , but for other games mainly. (and bragging on the internet of course)

... For 20 minutes. I wanted the nicer graphics and smoother visuals so i reinstalled track ir and gave it an honest try. But despite VR being so bad in DCS , i can not stand 2D anymore. It feels so disconnected, it's hard to explain the feeling but it's horrible. God i wish ED would put some more effort in VR, it's the only good way to play this
