  1. seeker performance we've been talking about it the whole time. Notching aim120 is REALLY easy. Notching MK60 is .... fubarred and damn near impossible. I also watch a crapload of tacviews, does it even go after chaff ever ? I see the aim120 do weird crap and miss for no reason all the time. The MK60 (again, it's SUPER OLD) grabs on like a bull-terrier and doesn't let go. If you come up with some decent video/tacview showing that it is not harder to notch an MK60 than an Aim 120 (note here, it SHOULD be EASIER but whatever i'll settle for just as hard) , i'd like you and me to go in a server and have you shoot some phoenixes at me. Because I'm not to proud to be told i'm doing something wrong, but unless notching a phoenix should somehow be done differently than notching every other missile .... Is there some secret trick that makes it different from notching other missiles ? Because again, notching 120's is REALLY easy. But with that super old MK60 it's always a shitshow of disappearing RWR signals , or relentless laser locks for some reason. @Naquaii I do not know if the 'notch angle' is programmable by developers but i honestly think heatblur should have a look at their MK60 and compare it with the aim120 to see what's up. Is there a value that you guys set and if so could you tell me what it is and what the aim120's 'number' is ?
  2. How do i now a 70 year old missile should not outperform a modern missile in every way ? Well, do i really need to answer that ?
  3. Yes yes phoenix missile is never at fault, everything else always is. p.s: I would really hate it if they actually 'buffed' the aim120 to a point where it becomes basically un-notchable. It's a big part of the gameplay. So once again, in the "DCS universe" AND in real life, there is no way an antique 70 year old missile should outperform a 'modern' missile in every way. It's just ridiculous. I go eat now
  4. Again you are probably notching the F14's AWG, not the ancient MK60 seeker itself. Half the time (or 100% of the time ?) the RWR i should get from the RWR goes silent, and 5 seconds later i explode. It should not be much more difficult notching a missile from the 1960's then notching an aim120-c. It's just bonkers.
  5. I just tested notching the aim120 offline. It is SO freaking easy, even at mach 1.6 you can notch them every single time. 20 miles, 10 miles doesn't matter. 100% guarantee. So how on earth should a missile that is 50 years older be so much more difficult to notch ? It should be much EASIER, not way more DIFFICULT. It's madness.
  6. What just go on any server and come back with an HONEST opinion on notching ACTIVE phoenixes. MK60 or MK47 doesn't matter, they're exactly the same in that regard. Not really wanting to see some pre-baked opiniated edited 'proof' you make with your friend to prove your point. So i hope your testing will be honest and not some propagand bullshit. I will do some testing myself this weekend as well, and we can compare results.
  7. The irony is really strong. ^^ I find it dishartening that you can not see that. This missile with so much drama around it already , for years. Banned from most competitions. But yet another thread asking for - "just give this" , - "but it could have maybe" , - "just make stuff up please" (as long as it in F14 favor) You honestly believe that an analog 1960's missile should have a seeker that is better than the aim120 C , almost impervious to chaff and notch ? Honestly ?? The MK60 seeker should perform way worse than even the AIM54-C. But instead, you want the aim54-C to perform way better than the already way overperforming MK60 seeker. It just never ends with you guys. You lack even the slightest amount of self-reflecting ability. p.s: If HB wants to make some sort of "offline" phoenix i would not care at all. But for the love of god let them please fix REAL existing issues with these missiles first before making them 'go active on their own'. Besides don't they already go active on HELD tracks since recently ? When is it enough ? If you struggle to get kills online in your F14 i will help you: Just fire in that 'straight away active' mode. You'll be at 15nm, still way out of reach of any other missile. 99% chance of a hit because notching/chaffing them is very impossible. Half of the time your RWR warning will diseappear for 5 seconds and then suddenly you still go boom and find out the missile was tracking all the time. Your 80nm shots though, yes people are starting to learn to notch the F14 radar so forget about that.
  8. Well you should try it an an 'actual' scenario every once in a while maybe. Anyway, looking forward to you breaking the A.I's F14-STT locks instead of notching an active phoenix -_- Or succeeding 1 out of 10 times vs your friend .
  9. That is such utter nonsense. Have you even flown online lately ? Like at all ? AIm 120c is way easier to notch than even the ancient MK60 with it's analog seeker.
  10. The MK60 analog seeker does not overperform 'by DCS standards' in your opinion ? I'm trying to figure out if you're trying to be sarcastic or not.
  11. 2D : With a 3090 and a decent CPU you can pretty much turn all settings to highest , i've tested this myself but at 3440x1440P . 4k is a lot more pixels so you might have to turn some things down a bit. (maybe not, i don't know) 3D: well... sigh
  12. There's no reason to pick the "C" variant because the analog "A" variant (from the 70's ?) is overperforming immensely already. Heatblur should drastically reduce the "A"'s seeker performance. Then you'd have a reason to go for the "C" variant. Also, the aim120 has the "AMRAAM" behind it's name. The aim54C does not. Surely the 'advanced' term stands for SOMETHING right ?
  13. Maybe it's for the better that multiplayer is so lackluster. I mean that. Just imagine if DCS would get popular online , with 0 anti-cheat and with 0 experience in anti-cheat. DCS devs not ready for this and never will be.
  14. I think a little latency compensation would work wonders here. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Latency_Compensating_Methods_in_Client/Server_In-game_Protocol_Design_and_Optimization#:~:text=Lag compensation is a method, the user performed some action.
  15. It seems more to me that they simply slapped on the C-seeker onto the A variants as well though. So you have it backwards
  16. usb 3.0 is handy if you want to transfer large files to external disks or something, but not needed for controllers as far as i know (3.0 is kind of 'the standard' now though so you might as well) I think i have this one tucked away somewhere, it has it's own power supply . TP-link uh700 (30 dollars)
  17. just phoenix things. There's been a ton of threads since a long time about phoenix not appearing on RWR and other very strange exploitable things.
  18. probably has a shitton of other crap like extra seats and a bar with whisky or noise dampening or ... and so on . They probably looked up what the vehicles weighed and added in the game i assume right ?
  19. I've seen aim120's hit other aim120's plenty of times. You want the triple range advantage, then maybe you should accept that your missile is also the size of a scud missile
  20. You're reaching in an attempt to be a meanie lol The guy was asking about the ECM thing. I merely pointed him to the thread where the whole thing is explained because from his post i gathered he does not really understand what it's about.
  21. Here's the thread, i do not know if this has been fixed or not at this moment.
  22. This seems normal ? The same type of sedan cars can have more difference in KG's just by some options. I don't think that the military version and the military version of a 8 ton helicopter are EXACTLY the same ? \
