  1. Hi Deano78, Nope, you're not crazy, I noticed that also. I was not sure if it was meant to be the Milky Way, but since we got the same idea... I agree it's a bit annoying when looking at the dark night's sky, the rendering distance seems only few centimeters away...
  2. That should be far good enough for you. Here with Rift S I also use DCS PD=1.0, but OTT SS=1.3 (far less pixels rendered than with your Reverb) and incresed spotting distance was very noticeable. When flying the F/A-18 first Caucasus mission (Alert 5), I spotted the targets maybe 2 or 3 seconds before hearing my wingman "Tally bandits, 12 o'clock", which never happened before...
  3. Yeah, I noticed that also, spotting distance has been greatly improved, even at night you can spot external lights or exhaust flame more than 10 miles away... And it feels really natural, small shaded spots, but clearly visible. Also flying with Rift S. Well done ED, a great addition. As well as the new night lighting of the latest patch, much more natural ground lights, new stars, new moon, everything looks much more "life-like"!!
  4. Wow...! Beautifull!!!
  5. Hi Don, I tried your settings and was very pleased to notice the same effect!! Well done sir ! I have almost everything maxed out, except visibility range at medium, MSAA x2, OTT SS 1.3, even bloom and global illumination enabled, Cockpit shadows on medium and terrain shadows on default as you suggested, I've got a pretty solid 40FPS with ASW on Rift S in every situation (even free flight over Dubai and Vegas !! Never happened before!) It is still a bit stuttering on Nellis with a lot of AI units, but better than before... At least in SP, I have performance AND eye candy in VR!! Looks like they're on the good way with OB... Thanks for the tip, sir!
  6. I would also be insterrested by any answer on that, since I have to unplug/replug my HMD every time I want to use it, and that's a real PITA... Tried different USB 2 and 3 ports, no impovement.
  7. Take a look also at the Supercarrier inside hangar pics. On some pictures, we can see the sky through the openings, and the clouds look rather... different, also... I wonder if it's the same as here. May be real sky also.
  8. Technically speaking, you're completely right. In a perfect World, we should all play with calibrated devices. But we don't, so that undoubtebly affects the way we perceive the image quality. But when it comes to a simple comparison between 2.5.5. And 2.5.6. using the exact same rig, the device quality argument is much less relevant, which fully legitimates the point of this topic, in my honest opinion...
  9. Oooh... Good point !! I didn't noticed that at first sight, but in the first P47 pic, reflexions in the water does seem indeed much improved !
  10. Huuummm... Flying tuk-tuk may be...??
  11. Thanks for that detail. Gosh!! We will have to get used to it...:(
  12. Thank you so much for this new cockpit and functions, these all look awesome!! Will new cockpit and features be included in the next stable update, which is planned tomorrow I think ?? I don't have the OB, and dying to try some new features on my most favorite plane...
  13. Aaah, great, Paris Air Show I guess... I'll be there next Thursday. Thanks for the pics, that's a real scoop !! Looks like they finally opted for very angled stabilizers (not really a surprise...)
  14. Yeah, it seems so... Let's hope their manufacturing is compatible with consumer market... So far, I was convinced that the key For future VR was eye tracking and foveated rendering, but obsiously there's another way. I can't imagine how VR will look like with all those optimisations combined!!
  15. Awesome... Clarity is just astonishing. Except for the dedicated lenses, nothing really new inside (don't think it takes advantage of the eye tracking for rendering, only for auto-IPD), they just optimized the current techs. Didn't realize we could get such clarity with "basic" 1440p pentile OLED panels. My bet for full consumer version in say... 2 years?? Hope I'm wrong...
  16. Sorry to be a little off-topic, but when I saw the Easter sales video opening on animated cows, that made me laugh...!! Were they already in game (and I missed it), or shall we finally get the "most-wanted" mooh-dule...?
  17. Thanks a lot!! I'll give it a try as soon as I can...
  18. Hi everyone, I'm currently playing this mission on 2.5.4, and everything seems fine (all the planes manage to take-off)... Except for one detail: this mission is very hard!!! The HMG is killing me every time I'm hot to destroy it. Whatever my altitude, speed or angle, I got cut in two. Same for my wingman when he attemps to drop the snakeyes. I watched some videos of this, but they all were made with 1.5, and in the previous versions, this HMG keeps firing on its ground target (EUMM Hotel 5) without taking care of the aircraft (not realistic, I agree) Seems like I need to rise up my bombing skills, but before that, any advice?
  19. Ouch, sooo many times discussed topic...!! Just hang around a little bit on the forum and you'll find plenty of this... To sumurize, it is actually planned by Razbam, but as it's not their priority, we should wait for another year or two, at least... There's still so much to do with the M2000-C.
  20. Man, I also managed to complete mission 2 without any crash... It seems that 45GB on my SSD was not enough. I cleaned it up this afternoon and reached 56GB of free space, then I just tried again the mission and was able to finish it... Thus I'm not sure if it was related. Now heading to mission 3, I guess it's the A2A refueling. I need to train a lot, i's not the easiest part!
  21. Hi guys, I'm currently playing the Vanilla campaign, but I sadly have to report a crash that happened three times, and unfortunately prevents me from completing this mission. Everything is fine during the first hour, I take off with my wingman, join the IP for AP training, make the run correctly on the ground forces to stop them firing, head through Vazziani and take the radial 180 to join again the IP to proceed to the HSI training. Then IP is interrupted by Prowler, pushes to WP4 and ask me to RTB. At this point, while I am heading to Kutaizi, and after several comms with my wingman, the game crashes suddenly and I'm back on Windows... Sometimes, it happens few minutes before (just before the HSI training). I have no mod, no reshade and I performed a DCS repair, still have 45Gb on my SSD, but no improvement... Attached herewith is the log of my latest attempt. Any help would be higly appreciated! Please feel free to ask me any further detail if needed. I also have to congrats you for the awesome level of immersion of this campaign (specially the comms), I hardly could believe that I spend more than one hour doing only training, I feel it lasts 20 mins every times!! That's also why I'm dying to play the other missions! Thanks a lot in advance. dcs.zip
  22. I confirm... Same problem with me on mission 4.
  23. True for the labels with immersion, that's why I only activated them to be able to complete this mission. And you're right for the sea texture, but not only. As you said before, those ship do not create almost any white trails, but I watched again the video of this mission by MagzTV (I think we're talking about the same one!), the white trails are much more evident. So obviously, something has changed in the latest updates.
  24. Hi, Tiramisu, I had exactly the same problem as you... I solve it by activating the labels in the options (gameplay), you will spot them very easily by doing so. Another thing to do is to tell your wingman to engage the ships. This has two main benefits: - He will probably hit some of them (it seems to be tough even for the AI!!) - The ships will not only focus their defensive fires on you, which will give you a good chance not to have a "flying strainer" after 2/3 runs... Now, be brave, hitting the ship is really not easy, but still doable! Good luck to you.
