Hi Rocky, Speed-of-heat's settings are a good start, but considering you rig, you should be able to crank up settings a little bit. Have a look also on Thud's web site below, it has a dedicated part for owners moving from Oculus HDMs' to Reverb: https://vr4dcs.com/

Great job! I'm also eagerly awaiting your feedback in performance combined with your G2, once you receive it of course... I just got a notice from Amazon Spain telling the HMD delivery was delayed, but with no further date.

Well done Barthek, it's a real game changer for this map!! I tried it in VR and it's like night and day!

Logitech G533 fits also quite well over the Rift S. Very good audio (6.1ch, but DCS is not the best game that takes advantage of it) and quite good mic also. I've been using it for almost 4 years, and pretty happy so far. Not that expensive as well.

Thanks for the info, Thinder. I didn't know that...

For sure! Most 3000 series buyers got PCIe 3 MB, it's perfectly compatible and the diffrence is negligeable versus PCIe 4 (based on reports only, since I don't have one myself)

43 here, and I know DCS for only 2 years and a half...

Eeer, I see in you pic GPU MEM 9,7/10GB... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 1080 only have 8GB normally?? To return to the topic, I'm with you on that, with 2080ti and an Oculus Rift S, I struggle a bit to get both eye candy and smoothness all the time (Nellis with other aircrafts, Syria above populated area...) and I also noticed the game was perfectly smooth when paused. I have a Reverb G2 incoming, I hope it will not get worse (some reported performance increase compared to Rift/Rift S, so I have hope!) Edit: Oh sorry, I just noticed it was not your pic, but MPK's one...!

Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect this feature anytime soon in DCS. No VR game support foveated rendering as to date... New gfx engine and Vulkan/Multithread will certainly come before foveated rendering, even if maybe only in one or two years from now... Moreover, it's more likely that the Omnicept Edition is aimed at professionals.

Hi J3ST3R, You seem to achive 45fps, is that in every situation (SP & MP, heavy missions?) Your settings seem to be the sweet spot for your configuration, but if you want to go further, take note of the advice given in that video: They were very useful for me. Good luck!

Oculus ASW vs Steam equivalent @ Sep 2020
Pride37 replied to jason_peters's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm very concerned by this also, since I currently got an Oculus Rift S and have a Reverb G2 on the way. Thanks to the OP for asking the question before I did. As far as I remember (I might be wrong, so don't hesitate to correct me), Oculus' ASW 2.0 is far superior to 1.0. But in DCS, we only have ASW 1.0 since this first version works natively with every games. And on the contrary ASW 2.0 requires some game developpers involvements (even if minor), which will not happen with DCS because ED has a policy of not promoting techs that only benefits to the customers of a single trademark. The same situation goes with nVidia's DLSS. I understand their position, even if, as an Oculus and nVidia's products owner, I would be glad to see such improvements in DCS! Moreover, if I refer to the excellent Thuds' site "vr4dcs", he mentionned that "It is close to or better than the Oculus implementation as of this date" (refering to Steam's motionreprojection vs Oculus' ASW) I have good hopes the reprojection will behave quite well when I'll be able to use the G2. But I'm highly interrested in some reports from users who were able to compare both techs. -
Same here, preordered on Amazon Spain for 599€ and they haven't charged my bank account yet. I just checked totday, and unfortunatetly for those who haven't preordered yet, the price rose up to 699€...

Yeah, I saw that this morning, it made me laugh so loud...!!!
-
Another image extracted from their FB account... I tried to correct brightness and contrast for a better visibility.
-
Definitely!! So am I... Except if it struggles too much in VR, given the very high level of details... Fingers crossed for a proper optimization in that way!!!
-
Ok, I just pulled the trigger on amazon.es for 600€... Price for France was announced at 750€, so I couldn't wait anymore!! I'll keep my Rift S until I receive this one to see how it performs with my other Oculus games, but I'll eventually keep only one... The G2 seems to be the best solution for simmers, and I don't think Facebook will release a decent competitor anytime soon...
-
Yep, noticed that also in the Syria map trailer... Looks beautiful!!
-
Hi Don, I must say I'm quite hyped with this headset, also... Seems to be the best solution for DCS. I'm eagerly awaiting your review/comparaison/advice since we both have Rift S ans pretty close rigs...

Oh great! Thanks Mustang! I'll give it a try, should do the job until they fix it

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Pride37 replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Nothing I must admit, sorry for off-topic... Nevertheles, I have a question on the shadders mod, I searched the multiple pages of this topic but couldn't find my answer: the called "clear water" mod is different from the base mod? How do I download this specific one? And finally is the water with the mod visually identical to it is without the mod? Thanks in advance. Edit: ah, sorry, I just saw it was in your signature... And so, what about "eye candy"? Original DCS water is very pretty, I just want to be sure to keep it! -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

THIS...!! I want this !! :shocking::worthy::wub: And that single programmer did it on his own... alone... I can't help thinking "WHAT THE HELL ?!?!" -
Hi Baltic, I just finished the Red Flag Campaign, after having completed the Vanillia one. I already told in few messages how much I loved the Vanilla, but man... Red Flag is even better!! If Eagle Dynamic made my dreams come true by allowing me to fly fantastic aircrafts, you are really the "beating heart" of DCS by the quality of your campaigns (voice acting, scenario, technical aspect, comm management, and so many on...) You trully give DCS an incredible feel of immersion (moreover I fly in VR!!), everything feels so "living". Every mission is very different, I learnt something new on each sortie! I haven't played the PG small campaign yet, but for sure I'll give it a try as soon as possible! I also own the F/A-18 (as well as Persian Gulf and Supercarrier), so I can't wait to play Raven One... It will be an instant day one buy for me, because I want to enjoy it, and also because your hard and so good work really deserves our full support!! Again, thank you so much, well done and see you very soon!

Ok, that makes sense... Unfortunately, I haven't shot AMRAAMs at this altitude since last update, so I can't tell you right now... I'll have to try it.

Hi Chiron, as far as I know, the 120's are smokeless missiles, so it's normal if you can't see any contrails with them (same in 2D). What about the other missiles? Aim-9? Other airplanes? In Caucasus, where weather can be cold with lot of humidity, contrails usually appear from angel 12 or something. In Nevada, not before angel 22, at the very least. There is curently a rendering bug in VR, where contrails, clouds, smoke, shadows and some lights are only rendered in one eye, but not none of them...
