  1. I got my radios tuned in the campaign and used the mic keys which brought up the communications menu but could not get any of the selections to activate. I didnt have problems using the same process in quick mission to contact my wingman.
  2. I didnt have problem entering tutorial missions, however, like in the startup and unguided weapons tutorial when the instructor says to press space to continue, space does nothing and I cant get the training mission to proceed.
  3. 330 Euros plus about 55 Euros shipping. US customers dont pay the VAT tax.
  4. Canceled my BLT order and ordered from Simware. Costing me about $60 more than BLT but at least they have them in stock and ready to ship. Could be a long time before US retailers get them in stock it seems.
  5. Think Im going to cancel my BLT order and spend the extra on shipping from Europe. BLT has changed their dates many times and sounds like it could be awhile for peeps to get theirs.
  6. You should still be able to use them as a game device even without installing software although any special profiling/programmable options wouldnt be available. I was able to use TM Cougar without installing drivers, just wasnt able to use the software that came with it.
  7. I have some cutouts with leds for the 4 indicators on the main instrument panel and found that simply putting on a clear printout of the indicators isnt going to work. It definitely needs something under it to disperse the led light. I found a white/semi see thru binder that I will cut up to see if it will work but was wondering if you guys might have a better idea for dispersing the light.
  8. Is there some reason the leds have to be off? Im sure its pulling less than a 100 milliamps of current.
  9. makes me wanna kill osama bin laden. I know he's behind these terror tactics.
  10. I upgraded my TIR4 to TIR5 and I noticed improvement on pretty much everything you mentioned. Background light interference was a big one for me that improved and the resolution makes small head movements much smoother and precise.
  11. Its part of the new vertical launch campaign being tested.
  12. I may be wrong but doesnt the TAD get its data from the CDU? I kind of understood the TAD to be a visual representation of coordinates stored in the CDU. If this is the case, the bullseye coordinates are already in the CDU and you just have to switch to the appropriate page to see it.
  13. The manual is invaluable here but theres a lot of info that doesnt make sense if your just reading it. I found it helpful to just spend some time flipping through the cdu screens to see whats on it. There are also some videos floating around that demonstrated how to enter in a new flight plan. I still dont know how to enter in lat/long coordinates but Im learning that the system isnt as hard as it looks.
  14. As for the newer nvidia cards that have hdmi + 2dvi, only 2 of them can be used at any given time so you will need either a second video card or switch to ATI as they have a couple cards that support more than 2 outputs.
  15. Not sure what you mean by utp cable. You can use any wire small enough to fit inside your joystick.
  16. Probably more likely an issue with how the surface your rolling on is being interpreted. My plane gets stuck on taxiways frequently and sometimes have problems with one of the mains getting stuck forcing me to use max power to move at all and constantly steering right or left to go straight. The sim might be interpretting the ground to be "off-road" or something.
  17. This sounds to me more like your modification is not utilizing the full range of the pots i.e. 0-5v. Calibration software should be able to compensate for some under utilization but if only a portion is being used i.e. 2.5V-5V. The calibration software may not be able to compensate. The first thing I would suggest is double checking voltages being output by the pots. Because the current used for these applications is very low, wire size is really not a consideration you should be concerned about. Im not an expert in how the software calibration works, but from an electrical standpoint, wire size doesnt need to be a consideration.
  18. You should have downloaded 3 .bin files and 1 .exe file. Simply have all 4 files in the same folder and start the executable.
  19. I may design the firmware to create usb game controllers for UFC, CDU, and MFD based on a Microchip controller. Its not terribly hard. Biggest problem I can see is figuring out a hardware design thin enough to fit in the bezels. That would probably require surface mount compontents on a custom PCB which I dont really have the capability of making myself. I could build a thru-hole version but probably would be too thick to fit inside.
  20. Simpeds are good. They use hall sensors and dont have the reliability problems of pots.
  21. Yep noticed this too. I hope they change it. Seems to be the same thing ED did with BS and the low pass filtering. Not sure what the fix is but might be same thing with editing the sound lua file like you have to with BS. I havent messed with it.
  22. They probably walk to the grocery store with their paypal info.
  23. I think thats sorta true. Im still having some difficulty remembering some of the lesser used hotas commands. Ive put in about 4.5hours sim time and aside from an indepth knowledge of the cdu, I think I have a decent grasp of most of the avionics and I can perform all the basic flight maneuvers as well as targeting and weapons employment. Achieving accuracy and efficient targeting of multiple bad guys is a different story.
  24. I believe I purchased the same set of tft displays as Kuky. They dont draw much power so I was able to run to a local electronics store and pickup some power supplies for $15 each.
  25. I would say likely no. Wait another month or 2 for Intel's next gen processors to be released. They will have $300 chips that are about as fast as today's $1000 I7 extreme chips.
