  1. You claim to he a competent RIO and don't understand hot ICS? VOX on discord isn't sonething novel or unique. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  2. Trust is earned. Not demanded. Teams are built -- and real drivers and RIOs know what training the other guy has received. Not so much here. I'm not letting somebody in my back seat unless they know what they're doing. I've had RIOs who claimed to be proficient leave countermeasures disabled, radar cold, and RWR off. A driver with a shitty RIO is in a worse spot than he is with Jester. Unless you're better than Jester, or I'm working with you to make you better than Jester, and you've already proven it to me without being an ass, get that sense of entitlement out of here. Secondly, that kind of attitude isn't welcome in my back seat. SRS is the ubiquitous thing now. Nearly every server has SRS autojoin enabled. Why wouldn't you just run SRS when you run DCS? There is no Discord autojoin function. I can't easily change discord channels with the turn of a knob.
  3. There's a thread talking about just that. Jabbers has evidently put up a video showing exactly that... so I'm going to try it tonight!
  4. Holy cow, I didn't know you could do that. Game changer! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  5. Nose strut is for squatting the nose for carrier ops. NWS is on the stick, but there's also a keyboard binding available (not sure what it is, personally)
  6. Bingo. This is what happens when folks yell "security" loudly but don't actually bother to perform a risk assessment or profile. There's a reason security is an entirely separate career field from operations. Ops folks forget to look past their nose. (former infra ops that was poached in to the infosec world here... I know it's true just as well)
  7. Those approaches are designed to be flown with baro altimeter. Approach minimums are charted in MSL.
  8. Keep your energy up, then. When you're slow like 250kts, you just forced the fight to the ground.
  9. From my experience so far, you don't have enough contrast there to acquire or maintain a lock.
  10. Indeed... And it shows our pride in ownership considering how much we want our own names on the canopy!
  11. You shouldn't even scope that statement to webapps. Security through obscurity isn't security -- it's a delay tactic at best. And it only works for a little while. Obscurity may (in some circumstances) have its place as a small component in a defense-in-depth strategy, but it shouldn't be relied on, or advertised as, a control mechanism. The strategy should stand on its own without obscurity in any case, negating much value of the obscurity in the first place. Security is about mitigating risk. If no risk is mitigated, no security value exists.
  12. It's a security facade if that's the argument you're going to go with. Most run the server with administrative privileges anyhow, so the blast radius is still as wide as it ever was.
  13. Same boat I'm in.
  14. While it may not be your cup of tea, no reason to try to shit on those who want newer, cooler toys.
  15. Since today's patch, our MP server (running OB in dedicated mode) has been crashing each time the mission (the black sea freeflight mission in userfiles) ends, which is on a timer every 4 hours. It fails to the dxdiag dialog, and is fine upon an immediate restart. Attached are some logs. dcs.log-20190323-020138.zip dcs.log-20190322-210829.zip dcs.log-20190322-151803.zip dcs.log-20190322-010854.zip
  16. Same here. Last lines in the log are always something along the lines of: 2019-03-22 22:04:21.117 ERROR Dispatcher: call register_unit(1000017,16958977) failed ,?:0: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value) 2019-03-22 22:04:21.119 ERROR Dispatcher: call register_unit(1000018,16959233) failed ,?:0: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)
  17. Code words for "because it looks cooler that way!"
  18. Hopefully the tempo has been able to slow down for you guys, at least. I know it can get a bit hectic leading up to any major software release, and you guys have done some great stuff. Keep it coming, but make sure to take some time to breathe! With the exception of the loading timeouts, which sound like an issue above your heads, nothing is a show-stopper
  19. Several other posts here have indicated that HB hasn't fully modeled the TID, and the indication of phoenix pitbull is one of those things currently missing.
  20. Turn him off there... Jester, contract, set inactive.
  21. More often than not, I’m not getting prompted and it’s just letting people in my back seat freely.
  22. I get my wire number, no grade, no tracks. I've seen screenshots of folks getting tracks, though,
  23. I've found 0 trim on shore, start adding some nose up off the boat with load. 0 off the boat, no load. Trim != flaps.
  24. Not sure I'd say I agree. I have a 1060 pushing it just fine, but I am loaded out with RAM. I also have buddies with far less RAM and much worse cards doing just fine. No reason to be elistist here.
