Just guessing: Triangulation. Cant build a triangle out of a two ship. Possibly it works like GPS triangulation. Just replace the satellites with F16s

Before you get too excited here. This thread is about the FM. And we have charts for that. After them ED is modelling the F16. The second thing, which is off topic here, is in another ongoing thread about the g modelling. Short version: The reason why you or me don't fly F16 because we possibly would not be qualified to do so. F16 pilots are demanded to withstand a certain G profile. Otherwise they simply would not be allowed in the cockpit. And the simulated DCS pilot is not qualified. We are not talking about vague opinions. We talk about a minimum set amount of time of 9G for the pilot by the military. And not about the g tolerance of a civilian on a rollercoaster. Because the simulated DCS pilot is a limiting factor for the F16 flight model is the reason for this thread going off topic. Look at the posted G profile in this thread and feel free to try it in DCS. And post your opinion in it if you like.

Same issue here. Maybe it should be moved to the F16 Subforum though.

Voice Chat: Ability to set side of the headset per radio

I cant buy better hardware to get rid of CPU stutters. I literally have the best processor on the market. i13900KS. If ED does not further work on MT performance improvement and or Vulkan I am afraid that the rising hardware demand of DCS will make DCS unplayable on high end VR headsets in the future.

Downgrading is no option for Multiplayer. Is the performance bad all the time or can you identify events when it degrades and when it recovers again? Seems like it has a big impact if you come close to another player aircraft. I am sure the effect is just adding up with more aircraft in the area. I started a thread about it:
-
It is off topic, but has direct impact on the performance and the impression people have of the DCS F16 as g modelling is a limiting factor of it, for an aircraft that relies on best turn rate at 9G. Real world engineers did not come up with the idea of an reclined seat for nothing. But agreed. Should be discussed in a separate thread though.

I have the Varjo Aero and the shimmering is only visible to me on the cockpit "dashboard" or whatever you may call it. The outside of it seems to have a not filtered texture. Its like sparkles shimmering. And the rudder pedals seem also not to have filtered textures. The instruments are fine for me null

Thanks for you effort. But I seriously doubt that my PC coincidently and all of a sudden starts getting too hot when 2.9 was released the same time. Today I played on another server that had the best performance in the past showing the same behavior. Also the CPU spikes were gone when using ST. (But overall performance was of course worse than in MT) DXdiag attached. Can some Moderator please take over and move it at least to the MT bug section, as this clearly is a MT bug. @BIGNEWY Thank you. DxDiag.txt

Of course youre not rating around a bandit when he has off boresight IR missiles. The current G modelling allows for only this scenario actually. Full instantaneous 9G pull, bleed down to buffet speed, fire your 9whatever. (if its not a 9x, start praying that the bandit bled his speed down too) But if both of you dont have any more heaters, all of the mentioned above counts again. And yes: Then its a dogfight. But apart from the G modelling discussion, can we agree on that the FM changes are rather minor in this update. Except for low speed oscillations which seem to be worse now. Also possible to depart controlled flight at slow speeds now. ( Gonna reproduce it in a single player mission, maybe on the weekend)

Nobody else? Might be a multi thread issue. I did the same test in single thread. And no CPU spikes occurred. Besides that the CPU load in general is higher than in MT and thats why the GPU is struggling getting the images rendered in the given refresh rate. If its a multithread issue some mod might want to move the thread there. See the video with single threaded this time:

Nobody ever argued against that. But better have some bruises from 9G than a gun round from a Mig in your back. Thats why pilots train for that extreme situation and thats why they take the calculated risk of body injuries. And thats why engineers built a 9G fighter. And thats why we need a better approach for something that is incredibly hard to model like G tolerance. The best guess is if an F16 pilot needs to take 30 seconds of 9G, a german Eurofighter pilot needs 15 seconds of 9 G, and the DCS pilot is blacking out after less than 10 seconds, the DCS pilot is not qualified for this kind of aircraft. And the discussions about the DCS F16 performance comes to the limiting factor which is the DCS pilot in that case.
-
Exactly. The common misunderstanding is that doing 9G 2circle for 30 seconds will help. Thats not the case. Because if your jet can do that, youre way too fast. The gameplan is to rate with the bandit and then pull him in the HUD for the kill. But even that short amount 9G needed for the final pull is denied by the G modelling. Its more like 10 - 15 seconds needed. ( but staying in rate speed already exhausted our poor pilot) The current G modelling gives you the abilitly to barely stay awake for one instantanteous 9G pull from 450 kts down to buffet speed. The only gameplan this works for is to employ a 9X. But not for BFM and manovering behind a bandit.

Interesting. I also have the black frames. Running a i13900KS, RTX 4090, Varjo Aero. What I also had was long blackouts of the image while refueling. Really unpredictable, not able to reproduce with any logic. Just close to the tanker and the image went black. One solution was to uninstall Tacview. It was gone afterwards. Then I reinstalled it and it came back. But after some updates. Not instantly. I have Tacview installed currently. Maybe I will uninstall. Do you have Tacview installed too? EDIT: Reading what Flappie says: It seems like the Tacview deinstallation was a placebo.

Thats why you, me and MMA guys probably should not fly F16s. If you know that video, you also should know the video where Hasard Lee goes for 38 seconds of 9G to test the myth of the "Euthanasia Roller Coaster". He does not look disoriented to me after that. Look into his channel. The F16 G Limiter is built to bring you to exactly 9G and this what pilots expect to be faced with and what they are trained for. I am not going into that discussion again. If the engineers of the F16 were of the opinion, that 8G are good enough, they would have set the limiter to 8G instead of 9G. And probably not talk about a reclined seat to accommodate G forces better than in other jets.
-
Unfortunately the F16 is a 9G fighter. With peak performance at 9G and not 8G.

This started with 2.9 MT for me. Before it did not matter how close the other aircraft were. In my case its just fly bys. But its also when chasing aircraft which makes aiming difficult. Its in multiplayer only. In SP this issue is not happening. And its not only if the opponent is an F16. Its for all aircraft. So its not a LOD thing of the F16 specifically. See the CPU graph of fpsVR. You see when the bandit comes close the CPU graph shows spikes that translate directly to the GPU, causing stutters. It is on a multiplayer server, in the 1vs1 arena with only 2 aircraft in the area. Also it was morning, and just 3 or 4 players in total on the server that time. I tried to disable Core Parking in the registry, that made it even worse, although I could not directly compare due to the nature of multiplayer sessions. Seems to be a Multithread issue. See the same test with ST in the follow up post. It was done for sure because ED has public available data that this should be correct, so its mentioned as "improvement" in the changelog. No use to argue here without contrary evidence. ( I am still hoping someone pulls a new F16 declassified performance chart out of his hat) I am not gonna lie it is a step backwards in the DCS F16 performance ( although its a step forward towards realism, according to ED) So to counter that step backward in performance, we need an F16 and 9G capable pilot more than ever before.

Next level racing HF8 haptic seat pad & DCS
darkman222 replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So, I did what GrandG did. The motors were uncomfortable to sit on. So I cut the cushion open and attached the motors to my Ikea chair, that works unbelievably good for VR flying. First, you can move your torso and head around freely. In a gaming char the headrest resticts your head movement drastically. And because the back of the seat is so small, I have enough room for my arms to slam the throttles in every position. Also I can turn around and watch my 6 while holding on the upper part of the chair. So unless I come across a better chair, I am gonna use that one. Also if it turns out that my HF8 conversion seems to be impractical, I would not have destroyed (besides the HF8) also a gaming chair too. The lower back motors are just mounted temporarily. I think I will cut them apart. And I will keep my transducer I used previously too. Works good to emphasize weapon release and bullet hits. Some people might call it ugly but I call it: The electric Ikea chair! -
Thanks for the nice mission. I created a sightseeing mission on my own first and was pretty disappointed that Massada wasnt modelled. So I was not sure if it made sense to go on look for landmarks while the map is still in development and likely such things are missing. (Looks like they have not been working yet on that in the east of the map) Then I found your mission with that kind of research already done. Thanks for that!
