I noticed the same thing, yesterday. Buddy was already on deck, ATC was talking to me correctly, yet he heard his Side number in the same comms.

Weeeell, if they finally implemented MGRS entry and the associated DDI page and mark points we'd be good there, too, even w/o MGRS display in the TGP proper...
-
I'm 99% sure that one doesn't have a HUD pointing indication either. I, too, heard SMEs say that it doesn't, it never shows up in any F-18 vid on youtube... but honestly it isn't needed, either. With VVSL and the TGT diamond you're good.
-
Nope, didn't save those. There's two rather big threads on TGP HUD symbology in the Bugs subforum that you will find most of this information in.
-
No, it has been confirmed multiple times by USMC pilots in the community that there is indeed no direct HUD indication on where it is looking, only the designated target diamond.

So, @NineLine or @BIGNEWY: attached is a track of a very small CASE3 training mission. The Carrier's heading is 326, so it correctly gives a final bearing of 316 and an equally correct CV-1 marshal of 136. This is not a bug, but correct, BUT: in real life CASE2 or CASE3 the CV-1 is, to the best my knowledge, not (or at least rarely) used. You would be stacked at a radial offset by usually up to 30° - so it should be 106° or 166° in this case. CNATRA P-816 says on page 2-19: "Marshal Holding: If Marshal directs a Case II recovery, the flight will proceed to Case II/III marshal pattern holding fix. Ideally, the holding fix will be on the 180 radial relative to FB. Weather and airspace considerations may not allow for this. Generally, the holding radial will be within 30 degrees of the 180 radial. Aircraft will hold on the assigned radial at a distance equal to 1 NM for every 1,000 feet of altitude plus 15." Which brings the essence of my question down to: is this a bug, and the different radials are implemented but not yet called up, or is this WIP and we can expect more realistic holding stacks later on? Thank you very much! :) case3_marshal.trk

You are absolutely right in this being WIP, but this also means this is the right time and place to ask about this, don't you agree? Of course I will also attach a track, and am looking forward to some clarification, since like I said: even Wags Video on Case3s from 2 years ago shows the basic offset marshal principle. Still thanks for your input, I really appreciate it!

I understand what the various CV-X mean, but here's the thing: to the best of my knowledge, CV-1 is NOT used in real life, only the offset approaches. If the carrier ATC is giving you the various ones and I had the CV-1 by chance, ok, I can live with that - but it really needs offset marshal stacks, to be realistic.

Turn on carrier lights with human ATC
Shimmergloom667 replied to Shimmergloom667's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Good, then I'm sure this will be implemented. Thank you! :) -
Ok, so when my squad is training CV ops, there's usually a player taking over ATC and LSO. This is generally all fine and dandy even now, but: is there a way to turn on the carrier's lights at night somehow without having to call ATC "inbound"? That still works, and is basically how it worked with the ole' Stennis, so I can live with that, but here's to hoping that later in EA that option will be introduced, unless I just missed it right now. :)

Copypasting static units that are linked to a parent (e.g. the CVN) is broken atm, it snaps them to the center. Either drag them from there (semi-good) or copypaste a lot of unlinked statics, move them to their places and link them when you are happy with their position, they are still moveable afterwards, too.

Ay caramba

And the coordinates. For the love of all that is holy, give us the correct coords display, ED.

[REPORTED] Copy and pasting Static Object on Carrier
Shimmergloom667 replied to JayBird's topic in Bugs and Problems
As a workaround: put an UNLINKED static on there, copypaste it as many times as you need it, drag them to a position, link, move, link, repeat... it's workable. -
AFAIK the torsion bar mount reduces pitch oscillations, but doesn't eliminate them. The ACLS needles are gyro stabilized, though (which we will hopefully get soon).

Yeah, I need the new drivers for other games, though. That said: it's dropping to 25 - 35 FPS for me, so that's playable anyway (even if I'd like to stay 100+). All I needed for the time being is a confirmation that they are indeed working on it, which has been given now :)
-
Thanks for the heads up, Bignewy, that really is enough for me and something I can look forward to :)
-
Yes, no one is disputing that it is driver related. Still you will agree, that downgrading the driver can't be the solution.

My FPS don't tank when the dispenser is off, no matter the amount of HAFU symbols. Turn on dispenser -> boom.
