  1. I've updated to Open Beta 2.8.1.34437 and my performance is much worse in VR than it was in the previous open beta
  2. Cool, thanks. I'll wait till the next vd update and try again then
  3. I've tried this but I can't stop steam vr from starting up. I have the steam version of DCS, not the standalone so could this be causing the problem?
  4. Have you tried changing the bit rate (I think)? You can do it using either oculus tray tool or the debug tool if you're using oculus link. I set it to 350. If you're using airlink you'll need to set it back to 0
  5. Thanks, yeah I like high textures and I've got a 3080 so probably not enough for the Apache without making a compromise I guess
  6. How's the performance of the Apache in vr? I remember reading it was worse than other aircraft and was wondering if that's the case still. If it's improved then I think I'll buy it in the sale but if the vr performance is still poor I won't bother
  7. Hi, DCS is on a m.2 NVMe drive and it's windows 10 I've tried using FPSvr and when there's a stutter it usually shows a spike for both GPU and CPU. I'd love it if buying a 5800x3d would solve this but I'm thinking it probably won't
  8. Thanks for the reply. When I use fpsvr it shows that I have higher GPU frame times than CPU, both for DCS and flightsim 2020, but I still get stutters despite the GPU not getting to 100%. Often with DCS I'll get a stutter at exactly the same place on a mission every time I run it despite the GPU being less than 70%. Do you think a better CPU could prevent these stutters or am I completely misinterpreting the data?
  9. I have an i7 9700k, 32gb ram and an RTX 3080. Is it likely that I'll see much of an improvement if I upgrade to a new motherboard and a 5800x3d?
  10. Thanks for the help, I'll take another look at it and see how I get on
  11. Has this been fixed yet? I can't undesignate
  12. I've followed the instructions but every time I start the server I get a message saying error starting server. Is this because I'm using steam?
  13. OTT should still work with OC. I'm sure it used to but I haven't used it for a while so something may have changed. All I did with OC was run the .exe file the first time I used it, set it to use OC as default and then just left it. If I use OTT I open that first, then Oculus, then start DCS. If you've got a profile set up for DCS you should get an audio message saying game launch detected. The list of ASW shortcuts are (I think) Ctrl and keypad 1 - ASW off Ctrl and keypad 2 - FPS 40 and ASW off Ctrl and keypad 3 - 40 FPS and ASW always on Ctrl and keypad 4 - ASW on automatic (default)
  14. Press ctrl and keypad 3 to force 40fps with ASW. Ctrl and keypad 4 will put it back to automatic.
  15. Hi Kybinec, Have you tried using open composite? It does something magic which allows you to bypass steam vr so it shouldn't affect your frame rates.
  16. Have you tried running it in Steam VR mode?
  17. Ah that was it, thanks for the help. Also, this mod is absolutely amazing. Thanks T-Pap
  18. Does this mod require the super carrier DLC? I keep getting a message saying the DLC's aren't authorised and will be disabled
  19. Is the Q2 much of an improvement on the rift s in terms of actually being able to read dials/displays in the cockpit? If it is a big improvement does this have a big impact on performance? I currently use a rift s with super sampling set to 1.3 in the OTT, if I had a Q2 could I get similar performance with SS at 0 but be able to read stuff in the cockpit better?
  20. This is really interesting. I've got a rift s and want to upgrade so I was considering the quest 2 but it seems from the above comments that the G2 looks better and gives better performance. Trouble is there aren't any G2's available!
  21. I'm pretty sure I don't have any led management software but I think I'll try doing a clean install of Windows, my computer was due one which was why I've been thinking of getting an M.2 drive. These micro stutters aren't unique to DCS, I get them in other sims as well. It often seems to be the case that when I fly round in circles in the same area the stutters stop. It feels like the process of loading new scenery is causing the problem.
  22. Thanks for your reply. Do you think upgrading to an m.2 NVMe drive could reduce the number of frame time spikes? Sometimes it seems as if some of the spikes are caused by scenery being loaded, I have no idea if this is absolute nonsense though.
  23. Hi, I get occasional micro stutters from frame time spikes and it can be quite immersion breaking. Is this normal in VR or is there a way of eradicating them completely? I was wondering if installing an M.2 NVMe drive might help. Any ideas? Just to clarify, Neither my GPU or any CPU cores are above 60% when this happens so I thought it might be something to do with the SSD I'm using not being quite fast enough. My Specs: i7 9700k @ 4.9MHz, RTX 2080 Super, 32 GB Ram @ 3200 MHz, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro, Oculus Rift S. 1TB SSD
  24. I find that the F-14 has worse performance in VR than the F-5E, haven't tried the other 2 though. The Harrier is a lot of fun in VR but the performance is no better than the F-5E for me. Have you considered trying a helicopter? The Huey has relatively good VR performance and is soooo much fun to fly in VR.
