cheers i will try and practice this more tonight. the problem i was having was that the co-ordinates i was getting were clear of enemies, (and i turned labels on to have a proper look), so i am wondering wether this is a beta issue. it deosnt help the learning process when the AI is giving dodgy co-ordinates. hopefully the beta5 AI will have prescription lenses ;)

In some missions where the JTAC either isn’t working or isn’t present, allied flights call out target locations in bullseye format. Whilst I am familiar with the theory of bullsese co-ordinates I am a little flummoxed as to their efficient usage in terms of the TAD. I have read the excellent post by slug88 (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1015902&postcount=7) as well as other posts and was wondering whether this was the most efficient battlefield strategy for those of us without the ability to locate bullseye targets unaided. BTW I tried this technique in the canned mission “midnight train to Georgia” where the AI repeatedly calls out “armour/artillery at bullseye 083 for 100”. There was nothing there for a 3 mile radius that I could see. Beta issue or RTFM? :helpsmilie:

Its an area that is so far very underdeveloped at least in the beta manual compared to the clear and detalied info on ABRIS / Datalink integration in the KA-50 manual. Oh, well, it is a beta after all. I need to force myself to go through the CDU chapters anyway. Must not start ironing socks instead. :music_whistling: I am not that strong in the force yet ;)

thats the bit i need to re-read in the manual. making use of all thos co-ordinates flying around without going heads down in the CDU (which is still a mystery to me ;)) Never tried this. So, you move the cursor around till the co-ordinates match what your heard and hit TMS-right to save as markopiint? seems very fiddly. Thats what i've been reyling on. Hooking the other aircrafts SPI and slaving tgp, then creatiing a markpoint. It seems a bit hit and miss though. Not being able to create my own targets on the TAD is a bit strange to a BS/ABRIS vet.

I have been re-familiarising myself with A-10 with beta 4 and am having trouble with task saturation, especially in the mission “defend camp yankee”. The main issues are as follows; JTAC rattles off 4 target locations with multiple ZSU’s at each, but then only gives one “red triangle” on the TAD. Is this normal? He does call out relative locations, “3 miles southwest”, for instance. Is that a relative distance from the red triangle or from his locatopn? If that is so, i should really be writing that all down. Or should I be doing some fancy CDU stuff to store the locations? Fellow CAS flight Bore 2-1 is also listing targets, but he is just listing co-ordinates, and nothing is appearing in the TAD. What am I supposed to do here? Write them down as well? Will TAD targets appear in a later beta? I don’t want to give up and go back to labels but I was flying around last night like a highly armed weather balloon whilst the war raged below me. Very frustrating in a “I’m doing this wrong” kind of way.

Vsync OFF only improves fps on old CRT monitors surely. 60fps is max for TFT. without it you get awful tearing. wait till later betas as they've just started optimising

off to bed now as i just finished downloading. sigh. will have to sneak off from family tomorrow to have a quick go.;) will leave PC on to seed for you guys. it might help your DL speeds a bit.

All the arguments about "boxed software" are becoming a bit anachronistic in these days of steam and cloud computing, etc. I know where they are coming from as I’ve been tempted to burn my copies of BS and A-10c onto disk but then i always stop myself and say, "i have RAID1, i have backups, i can re-download" . Optical media is dying in the same way as tapes did. In five years DVD's & Blue Ray will be on the way out as we will all have streaming set top boxes. In this light, holding out for a "boxed copy" puts you right up there with the flat earthers and those who refuse DRM. The world is changing and you can’t stop it. It’s your choice and potentially your loss. Join usssssssss……………

Man, its getting to a stage of "survival of the fattest" in there. It was like a scene out of Dawn of the Dead. By afternoon it will be a no mans land. The shops are shut for ONE DAY and the whole country goes into a "surviving a nuclear winter" shopping mode. Still hoping for Beta 4...... anything will do as my rig just plain refused to play B3 for more that 20 mins before crashing. The fact its taken this long makes me think that ED are determined to make B4 a big milestone release. I might re-install B3 if there is no release today, but i dont want to waste an hour faffing when a lot of other guys with my issue have reported that it didn't cure the crashes. Aanyway, i am having too much fun re-learning BS again. Every cloud....

I can fly, I can fight. I can do a cold start and I can navigate, hit my objectives and sometimes even come back to base with a wingman but I have one have one very very embarrassing problem. I can’t land at a FARP for shit! I flail about around 4-7m off the deck wafting and spinning until I eventually drop the collective out of desperation and flop to the ground with all the grace and style of an elephant dump. I can almost hear the crew chiefs laughter when they see me coming over the horizon after a mission. “Here comes dumbo dump!” It takes the shine off my otherwise mostly successful debriefings. Are there any FARP landing tutorials about? Or a procedure I can follow? Here i go again...wheeeeeee, flutterflutterflutter, THUD, SPROINGGG :noexpression: (another landing gear out of my wages)

The only way to lay the 'falcon' ghost to rest is to do DCS:F-16 with a dynamic campaign. I want a WAR to take part in and some amount of smoke and mirrors is quite acceptable to achieve that, (as long as i cant see my own reflection). Then we can move on as a community. I would love carrier ops though......mmm superhornet...mmmm

We need a webcam in the ED office to see how close Beta 4 is, or wether all the dev team are in post-mince pie comas like they are in our office. with you guys. stuck on the PMC addon because of that stupid helo mission with the side gunner who forgot his glasses. tried 4 times and i cant control the damn thing. might try keyboard, (grrrrrr) after a slightly pants start, the PMC reall picks up midway with an awesome tank hunting mission very reminiscent of the origonal OF.

RC for me as well. Bought TIR4 & 5 from them. They are just up the road from me. Amazon get enough of my bloody money so anytine small independants can match the big boys for price, they get my money as they can provide much better support, and email or talk to real people.

It all depends on price. New ATI cards have more outputs than NVIDIA cards, but if you have two, thats a moot point. I'm not a fanboy of either camp, so for me it would be simply price / performance and how they play with my chosen games. DCS is CPU limited in my system since the 580 upgrade so i'm going to be looking at sandy bridge overclocked performance & prices next month to see where my next upgrade is coming from. if thats not impressive, then a sata6 ssd may be on the cards.

**EDIT** 1.1 uploaded (see above) No worries. I will upload v1.1 at the weekend which will have engine cutoff valve controls, and L/R fuel shutoff and engine governor controls. I am going to map them to the hog throttle base FUEL, and ENGINE OPER swiches. It also has working throttle controls using the hog flaps 3-way. I may change the AP to use the LASTE panel PATH/ALT-HDG/ALT switches as in the hog but that might be a step too far. 'hogging the shark' if you see what i mean. I am trying to avoid the temptation of adding U/M/D style layers as i did that in my FC2.0 profile and ended up with a telephone directory as a guide ;)
