[Known issue] Wheel chocks not being removed
Lt_Jaeger replied to Dave317's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeap, known issue. With VAICOM I give the command "place wheelchocks" before or during startup. Even so they are already there, the next time you say "remove wheelchocks" they are actually removed. -
2080ti performance expections in DCS VR
Lt_Jaeger replied to markturner1960's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm not sure if still valid, but during the time I had my 2080ti, I had to reduce the texture quality, especially for the AH-64. There is a low res download in the user files somewhere, which made the Apache playable for me. Anyhow, the only drawback in lower texture quality, which I would also use in my 4090,is the mirrors look like <profanity> and that I can't stand in my F-14. Anyhow, all this might be mood, since I think I recall a update on the AH, but maybe worth a try anyway. Other than that the 2080ti went well along with the G2 -
No, you don't need to do that. Start the Vpforce software, start DCS. If you want to switch the profile, tab out into the VP Software and load the profile you like and tab back into DCS and enjoy.
-
Here you go, but mind, for the force trim I use loop back, since I currently use a VKB Grip with the Gazelle. ffb_config.vpconf_heli_Gazelle.vpconf
-
Nee, das Ding hat momentan Probleme mit FFB. Ich habe es nur über externe Software hinbekommen das die Trimmung funktioniert. Ich hoffe das bekommen die irgendwie in den Griff.
-
Nope. The only thing you need to do is to implement a Gazelle profile in the Rhino FFB Software. You can override the DCS effects and use the force trim. If I switch to another airframe, I just choose the fitting profile and everything is "back to normal". I basically have a profile for every regularly used airframe, because I also switch grips around as well as use the software for airframe specify throw limits and force settings. You would be able to set shortcuts to start the respective profile from the desktop. Yeap, you have too. But beware, that thing is kind of expensive, but well worth it. Wonder how I could have been without one. That applies for all old school airframes. FBW is kind of dull, but these airframes are lifeless anyhow
-
I use the Rhino as well. Even so I only hop in the Gazelle only once in awhile, I made a profile for it. So it is just a matter of clicking a couple of times and all is working fine. After the session, I load my standard F-14 profile, or that gets restored after I restart my system automatically.

In current MT someime the TCS for the Pilot does not work , at least in VR that is. I did not found a pattern yet, but it is hit or miss if I get a TCS picture in the front seat. Most of the time it is there though.

Please Heatblur, improve the RIO/WSO AI significantly
Lt_Jaeger replied to twistking's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Nope VAICOM with AIRIO is comepletely free. OP - try VAICOM with the F-14. I did it from day one and I only talk to Jester. I don't even know how the Jester wheel looks, because I saw it as you, and just used the mentioned APP from day one. Yes, VAICOM has a steep learning curve, as the Tomcat has, but once pieces fall into place, it is very satisfying and would achieve what you are looking for. For me....no VAICOM / AIRIO - no TOMCAT Hope the community guys find a way to integrate Jester 2.0 as soon as he gets released. -
Ich habe noch einen in der Ecke stehen, allerdings wurde er gemodded, d.h. verlängert und mit einem B8 Griff von einem TM Topgun versehen.

Pre-oredered that thing, but actually don't care. The F-4 on the other hand...

The real fun starts after finishing the campaign
Lt_Jaeger replied to Lt_Jaeger's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Yeap, given how long real pilots are in the pipeline....and then all the academics...I'm definitely too dumb to achieve that, so I have to rely on you to feel like a wannabe fighter pilot. Hope you started with your phantom campaign already -
Not sure, would need to check if that's possible.

For me the real fun with this campaign has started after the completion. Currently I'm in the process of dissecting what missions of the RAG part I could adapt for our group as the "basic training course". Since that will be purely MP - so no grading by a program, I have to figure out how to align the maneuvers/exercises with our existing training, what to include, what to leave out. After that a set of grading rules have to be formulated and then to be figured out how to actually observe them (e.g over G can only be a honor system). I never ever in my DCS live have flown so many, seemingly purposeless circles, TAC turns without a second aircraft, snapshot drills alone, just to figure out if it will work, before starting testing with a buddy. After that, the rest of the gang has to be persuaded that it is a good thing that one is on the same altitude and speed after a in place, and not only somewhere near. Long story short, if one starts to go deeper into this campaign, it makes you realiz what a marvel it really is and how much work, next to a lot of knowledge, it contains. Thank you again, Reflected, for the best piece of DLC - next to the F-14 of course - in DCS.

The rhino you can basically run without any additional software, at least in DCS.For sure it comes with a configuration tool. There is an additional background tool, which will provide effects not implemented in DCS which is still under development and is supposed to work in MSFS soon as well. Since I fly the F-14 almost exclusively, I don't need that tool, though. The trim function is implemented as you described it. No need for hardware trim, since the stick moves with the ingame trim already. In case of modules not providing such functionality, it can be done as you describe.
-
I think the F-14 FFB is one of the best, maybe even the best implementation of the DCS modulus. So, for me, no need to fiddle with a additional Software, I left it all basic with using the ingame trim.
-
Hey Mark, you are on FFB, aren't you? I have the same problem with my Rhino. As soon as you couple, stick position runs away - not the actual, physical stick, but I believe some of the internal figures inside the module. Even disengaging won't save one from a wet grave. Posted that issue on the HB discord and hope it will get resolved. Maybe a big report here would help as well and wonder if more FFB User could give it a try.

Varjo Leg switch(es), using VR eye tracking.
Lt_Jaeger replied to HwyStar's topic in Virtual Reality
For me a device like PointCTRL is way more immersing, even though I just point into thin air, than a device strapped to my leg. -
Thank you for the answer. I don't deem it as overly problematic since one is doing VFR anyhow and with the provided map and the destinctive landmarks it would be easy to fly this completely without steerpoints, but the TACAN approach made me scratch my head. I was somewhere but it all did not add up, so I said screw it and flew it visual. Anyhow, i'm nowhere near to be a pilot nor do I have a understanding of airborn navigation, but I like to fly "the numbers" and was wondering why I was somewhere and not where I am supposed to be.
-
Mission 1 In Mission 1, for me, all the navigation is off by around 10 Deg, that includes especially the TACAN. If I fly a 21X 55 approach, I will end up in the weeds. If I remember correct and saw it right, INS indication are off by roughly 10° if I compare to the standby compass, who seemed to be right. The given headings by ATC during the approach and the ST were also off by the same amount, I had to fly steer points to be where I would suppose to be, in accordance to the provided map. Could someone please check? If it is only me, I don't know exactly where to start to look what went wrong. Reading about the other bugs, I might better wait for the fix first before to continue.

Do you got Necksafer installed? It's a known issue if you browse the discord. Something to do in which order the OXR layers are installed.

Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update April 13th 2023
Lt_Jaeger replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I use both, jetseat and the rhino FFB and, for me, the new option is spot on. I don't need too much visual feedback and more, because I can feel her. I like it. -
No need to import, just drop it in the mods folder
