Some pointers in general with the F-16 in mind :)
WildWeasel303 replied to macedk's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
You aren't the only one thinking it. -
1) The reason we don't (and probably won't for the foreseeable future) have aircraft like the F22, Rafale, Typhoon, Gripen, etc is largely based on available public data and licensing. The F22 is a perfect example of this because a lot of the systems, manuals, documents, etc are still classified. Any mods out there that have been created are emulations of the aircraft and not full simulations. 2) Deka has direct access to a no kidding JF17 simulator from my understanding and access to plenty of documentation/manuals given it's export status. I'm gonna go on a limb based on what happened with ED and the F18 that some systems/characteristics are still hush hush and probably will be similar but not 100% accurate as part of a licensing agreement.

So....how's the QA process coming along? Can't wait :)
WildWeasel303 replied to MobiSev's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Realistically we’re probably looking (best case scenario) at an update on QA status in about a week’s time. That’s going based off of when they sent it in for review by ED. It would not surprise me if it took longer than that though given the amount of work behind the scenes that’s going on at ED on bugs/modules/features/upgrades/etc. Like everything else, it’s all about patience at this point. I’m sure Deka is chomping at the bit to wrap things up too seeing as they are very close to the end. -
I don't consider myself a DCS vet or even a "hardcore" user by any means (real life takes priority, especially with my job). That being said, I do try to keep current on what's going on with the sim and modules/3rd parties whenever I get a couple minutes of downtime (considering the number of modules I've invested in, like so many others, it's kind of an unwritten guideline at this point lol). All that being said, reading through this thread has been one hell of a rollercoaster for emotions. There's plenty of frustration, annoyance, anger, happiness, etc. but despite all of it I can absolutely say without a shadow of a doubt that Heatblur's team/IronMike/Cobra go above and beyond when it comes to making this community a better place. Whether it's simple discussion, bug tracking/fixes, improvements, new features, additional content/modules, whatever; they absolutely CARE because they're passionate about the end result and what they're doing. I honestly wish that kind of passion was more abundant throughout this community and there was less negativity but like all things in life, there's always something/someone that has a glass half empty/pessimistic outlook and isn't afraid to be vocal about it. All that being said (TL;DR), WELL DONE Heatblur and THANK YOU to IronMike for being so patient/passionate with this community as a whole. It truly shows and does not go unnoticed at all.

Actually, yeah, it's a classic. It's garbage but it's still awesome for us aviation enthusiasts.

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
WildWeasel303 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Read the Gazelle sub forum. Polychop is starting to work through the bugs at a very rapid pace and is implementing new features/fm characteristics to correct it's behaviors. -
I'm gonna ask the obvious here (maybe it isn't though) for the OP, have you verified you're on the current Open Beta build number? If so, my first suggestion would be to run a repair in case it was corrupted on install.
-
If that kind of involvement and response in general (like a state of razbam or something) was even once a week just to give a rough standing on their progress and what sort of issues they are focusing, it would go a long way towards rebuilding the atmosphere with the customer base. Hell, I think a lot of us would settle for even bi-weekly with just a couple short sentences or key points. I understand they're busy/focusing their efforts on fixing things when they can, but it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to give a short post saying "Hey, this is what we're working on/tracking, more to come soon".

Do you have a rough idea when we can expect to see the new fm in an open beta release?

OH-58 Exclusive Helisimmer.com interview
WildWeasel303 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Straight out of their facebook announcement: "Being a licensed product, the OH-58D module has to adhere to the standards set by Bell Textron, which we believe will in turn benefit the community in terms of quality control. Both the high but expected standards set by Bell Textron and lengthy but needed contract negotiations and legal requirements with Eagle Dynamics led to the fact that the development of the Kiowa module up to this point has been sort of a public secret. With multiple parties involved and no signed contract we could not share as much information with the community as we would have liked. We have to point out that at this moment, no contract has been signed yet but the latest draft is one we think all parties can agree to. With a contract on the table that is acceptable for all parties involved, the time has come for us to share with you the status of development." -
The port side or 5L station is capable of using the 113 Navigation pod but it's not something that's used stateside from my experience. Tell you the truth I don't think I've EVER seen one used anywhere at other bases. My understanding is that it was procured by a few foreign customers/NATO allies. The Harm Targeting System (AN/ASQ-213 HTS) mounts to the starboard/5R OR the port/5L stations. It's capable of being carried on either side but typically mounts to 5L when a sniper or lantirn pod is also mounted.

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
WildWeasel303 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I feel like the negativity regarding their past performance is getting to the point where it's beating a dead horse. We all know the Gazelle leaves a lot to be desired and their communication/effort hasn't been the greatest to this point. That being said, they know what's at stake and the amount of effort they are putting forth to improve the Gazelle currently/release a fully functional Kiowa that doesn't fly like a UFO is certainly a nice change of pace from where they've been the last several months. -

[REPORTED] ENG FEED AFT Position Does Not Feed Properly
WildWeasel303 replied to WildWeasel303's topic in Bugs and Problems
I’ll pull one tonight after work. -
Wags, I'm grateful the 16 is even here at all. My gripes with it's early state are minimal and the ones I do have you guys are already addressing for the most part. Anyone that expected perfection or close to it with an EA product should have known better. That being said, what ED has released at this point is still very enjoyable and has already consumed a great deal of my free time. Thanks for the work and the work you continue to do to keep the masses happy.

Tried searching for this and have not found it being addressed directly. ENG FEED Selector to AFT will not feed from Aft Lft tanks properly. Tried to correct an imbalance to stabilize the roll tendency with the left external tank holding over 500 pounds extra fuel from the right external. AFT Position began draining F/R instead of A/L further increasing the imbalance. FWD Position continued to drain F/R before A/L as it should. NORM drains A/L and F/R simultaneously as it should as well. Caucuses, twin external tanks, standard 120/9X launcher load on both wings with empty twin bru-42 ters. Hoping this isn't just me. Could very well be doing something wrong but considering the amount of times I've done defuels on Block 30's, I'm fairly certain it isn't me screwing this up. :joystick:

Same here. Definitely shouldn't be as dramatic in terms of sensitivity in flight.

Here's a close up of the area in question. The door just below/nearby is definitely a pressurized refueling receptacle so I wouldn't count on it being a spent brass storage compartment. Hard to make out just exactly what it is but my guess is it's a small crew provision for bags when they go off station rather than lugging around travel pods on the wings. You can check out the rest of it up close here. http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/howard_mason5/jf-17/

Take one look at the list on the DED with all the functions that are WIP and it'll give you an idea how much is still left on the table. That's not including weapons, advanced TGP features, additional pods, centerline stores, etc. I applaud ED for getting the Falcon up and running in such a short time with as much functionality as it does currently have, but there is a LONG way to go before it's on the same level as the Hornet. I don't expect they'll give us a list of anything but they'll probably keep us in the loop with mini updates and news releases on WIP features coming to OB patch updates (like they do for the Hornet).

Not sure how it is on the block 50 (I’m sure it’s probably the same) but if there’s air in the system, ground crew purges it out while the jet is running or does it with the hydraulic mule when the jet is off. Cycling the controls during startup just warms the fluid and gets it circulating to ensure proper operation.

Looks like they ‘heard’ you guys. New video is up.

Would help to see what your system specs are to really have an idea what's going on with your current situation. The old saying goes that lower resolution like 1080p tends to lean heavily on CPU horsepower where 1440 or 4K really start to draw on GPU performance. In my experience with DCS at 1080p 144hz (seeing as I've been through 3 different GPU's on the same CPU), my frame rates really jumped up going from a 1660ti to an RTX2060. Going from a 2060 to the 2070 Super didn't really bump my frames noticeably but it did smooth out the image a tad more (mind you I've been monkeying with the settings to get the best image/performance ratio). So as far as GPU goes at 1080, I'd say the 2060 felt like the real sweet spot for performance to $$$. Now, when it comes to CPU, my Ryzen 5 2600x really saw the most dramatic improvement when I went from 16gb of ram to 32gb. Stutters and image tearing are completely gone now. All that being said, if you're clocking over 4ghz with a decent GPU and 32gb of ram, you should be able to maximize 1080p without an issue. Just remember, whatever your hardware setup is, the monitor is what's really going to translate all that performance and you definitely don't wanna bottleneck with a 60hz display.

No 129's on my end. Our jets are Block 30's so we're on 100's as well (140th Wing). I can't recall the last time I was around a 129 without our jets running / me launching my bird out. Most of the 129's I've been around were from Shaw since they seem to go to Nellis around the same time we do. Nellis isn't exactly the greatest place to compare start ups with everything happening at once.

Couldn't find a better example. Seems as though most of the start up videos on youtube cut out the actual motor ignition to clean up the audio or record from the front where you can't get the full effect.
