Holy crap! Now that is looking amazing. All the fine details and more that made Lock On look so great at the time it was released. If ED can pull this detail off for a full scale map with "streaming" render technology..like the ones in other graphic engines like frostbite 2, I think we have a fantastic future with DCS.
-
I think the limitation is the lighting engine. That makes a big difference. But definitely still WIP so still cannot make a judgement yet.

You are right...it doesn't seem to be dynamic in BMS..but atleast its there. Its like in the new codemasters F1 games, they managed to add flex and body component vibration as you are driving and the car drives over a curb. It just adds to the immersion. Not critical...would be nice. ;) I meant that if hopefully the graphic engine is now handled by one separate thread like the sound engine, if ED can leverage a complete thread for physics calculations, that would be amazing and they could probably calculate a lot more little features..like precise water wave modelling with weather effects etc... and hopefully in the future, get rid of the SFM for even non-flyables. But I guess all in time eh?

Its amazingly detailed. This is the best flanker model ever made IMO... http://www.naritafamily.com/howto/Su27/photo_frame.htm I bought it to make something even close to that. But realized that I don't really care that much. lol! Too much other distractions to take care of.

Hi guys, I know its not exactly hardware for sale, but didn't know where else to post this. I got a bunch of model kits in haste, but when I started a 1/72 mig 29 airfix kit...I really didn't want to do it at all. So I have up for sale...brand new...all the sprue are still sealed. Trumpeter 1/32 Su-27 Flanker : 120$ Trumpeter 1/32 A-10A Thunderbolt : 120$ Detail kits for warthog: Cutting edge cockpit replacement : 40$ review: http://www.arcair.com/Rev1/001-100/rev001-cec32057/00.shtm Verlinden Productions 1/32 A-10 Thunderbolt Cockpit : 40$ Verlinden Productions 1/32 A-10 Thunderbolt Detail Set : 30$ Academy 1/48 Su-27 Flanker B : 35$ If anyone is interested... we can work out a deal for more than one product and an even better deal for all. cheers, V

Sobek...it would be cool if the wing...ordinance can actually vibrate due to turbulence...like in the latest BMS versions. But I guess that means a new atmospheric model? Again a job for EDGE?
-
It's not that they want us to be in the dark... Ed have been burnt in the past for promising some features and cutting them before release... So this is a lesson they learnt to save them grief later

Just bought BS2, DCS Su25 and DCS A=10A. Got rid of the annoying BS2 update install process. Can finally forget about my BS1 key from direct2drive. First step also done in phasing out LOMAC.

If the Mighty-8 is released today...
Witchking replied to RagnarDa's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Fantastic productivity BelsimTek. You guys are awesome. This is the fastest we have ever gotten any ED modules. lol! You are clearly raising the bar. haha...you should loan some of your talented guys to the head studio and help them push out EDGE. I was initially a little reticent if ED wouldn't develop the Su-27 DCS module in house (NOTE: WE STILL DON"T KNOW WHO IS MAKING THAT MODULE)...but you guys are clearly talented enough. Great job! -
About those wingtip vortices & engine smoke ...
Witchking replied to Echo38's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No question about it. It does look nice. The old effect was terrible...it looked canned and a smoke bitmap appeared with no animation when the wheels touchdown. Now it looks more like new smoke. btw...anyone with concerns regd wingtip smoke...take a look at this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106513 first post...see the video. ED did fantastic with the wingtip smoke. It does seem a bit short...but the animation and point of origin is fantastic. Unless ED models atmospheric conditions and a dynamic effects engine to calculate smoke intensity and movement upon turbulence...this is the best we have ever gotten or we can see in any simulation/game yet. *salute* ED. :D   -
Pretty cool Paul. Do those objects have damage models? Would be a nice mission to practice munition delivery. Is it private or available for download? :)

About those wingtip vortices & engine smoke ...
Witchking replied to Echo38's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I agree...http://youtu.be/BJ800rL_M5U I agree...the wingtip vortices are the best I have seen in any game. Looks spectacular. I agree... if they add sonic boom vapor and canard area smoke..lol...it would be awesome. BTW...how does the landing smoke work? Did they finally implement the "twirl" effect of smoke that happens just a touchdown? -
Remember that ED started with A-10a first and made that cockpit. Then they got permission to model the C version and then moved on. I suspect this is a leftover of that early project. I wouldn't think ED would bother making this a full DCS sim. A lot of effort when there is already a better version of the same aircraft modelled in full detail. This is a nice strategy by them.... less fidelity versions along with a newer one at high fidelity.

fromeverything i have seen....tracers...only training rounds....no tracers except muzzle smoke and impact smoke/dust.

Yes....future aircraft as well as the current other FC3 aircraft missing from the planned modules. i.e., DCS: Su-33 Flaming cliffs and DCS: Mig 29C Flaming cliffs. They are part of FC3, but I am sure if ED update them finally with AFM and full 6dof cockpits... we shouldn't expect them for free. All that takes resources to make. They were never part of the initial FC3 features list, so I wouldn't expect ED to offer them for free....nor should they. Being such a niche developer, they can't afford to give stuff away for free. They have employees who need to be paid monthly salaries. Athlonic....that post was about the Su 27 and F-15 which was announced to obtain AFM right after the release of FC3...so noticibly..people were pissed off after paying 40$ for FC3. But the mig and sea flanker will probably not get that treatment for free. personally...I think its time ED just discontinue FC3 and release future stuff as DCS : xx FC modules. Atleast that way future customers do not get added to this mess.
-
Keep in mind... No one ever said future flaming cliffs aircraft will be free. You should not be expecting that. Ed can't give away everything for free. I would predict that the remaining two aircraft for fc3...tbe mig 29 and su 33 will be individual aircraft. The feature list of flaming cliffs 3 does not say anywhere that it includes a life long update compatibility with other flaming cliffs aircraft.
-
Stop complaining. ED were nice enough to merge keys to make it compatible...but due to their old business model with module updates...BS1-BS2, FC3...it can't all be transferred. They aren't stealing your cd key away and forcing you to re-buy on steam...its a choice. If you buy a game on ubi shop...do ubi give u a key to add it on steam? No developer (except CD projektred) bothers to do that. Get real and stop asking for free stuff.
-
Wait longer and they will also you for for cash back. :megalol:
-
ofcourse...it will be limited with that old engine, but nonetheless....its impressive on how much could be modded. ED started having animated Damage models with the debris seen in the ammo bunkers...I guess with the EDGE, it might be time to see if they can slowly update other objects to that level of modular damage.
-
Wonderful example of some nicely done special fx in FSX. Note...the fire in current DCS looks amazing...smoke too...very well done ED...but you guys are missing debris. I understand it may tax the graphic engine...but here is example of how you can have random debris. Also...some holes...and 3d damage..procedural damage...with pieces strewing all over the place....i.e., vehicles having a multi stage damage model (like aircraft), that would be amazing. XppMWoYFAaI

IN GENERAL...NOT SINGLING OUT THE MEMBER IN THIS THREAD.....Its so funny when people say "...I will buy the ****** product if ED implement ***** function." Seriously? ED is going to go......"OMG! Guys.... this member will only buy it if we spend resources and add this crazy feature.... lets go get that 16$...even though he will probably wait and get it only when its on sale for 5$." Such excuses. A single sale is in NO WAY any excuse for ED to go and add your requested feature. If you really want a feature, support ED by buying their products at full price. Give them incentive and capital to keep progressing. I agree...having used the C model with PAC, the A model feels very unstable, but at the era which ED modelled the aircraft, perhaps that version doesn't have EAC which is required for PAC? I am no expert, I don't know. But if the real aircraft did indeed have a two stage trigger with PAC (A model), then I think ED should consider porting that over to the A model. Although...they do have enough on their plate already with their future plans.
