As I am way out of my league in these detailed conversations, all I want to say is ...nice to see you here Dima. And fantastic job on the flanker. Its the most dynamic representation of this jet ever and I love the FM. Keep up the realism. Looking forward for more updates to flanker and perhaps the fulcrum some day. ;) Having seen only documentaries..no first hand experience, I recall Russian designers actually did design in some cases the FBW system to add in flaperon inputs to roll inputs in order to stabilize aircraft based on test pilot inputs...especially during combat when missiles are shot. Check the Mig 25 documentary on youtube and you will see why.

Building a new desktop for DCS 2.0
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
can't wait to try this puppy out. Just waiting for the damn case to come in. :p -
Whatever it is...the flanker is one sexy beast. :)

I think that will require going back into cockpits and actually editing those materials/shaders/objects. I don't know if ED will bother updating older modules that extensively. Might be something in the newer modules. Although..I agree that lighting is a key key thing for 2.0. I really hope they get the lighting right. Even the small navigation lights at the wingtips of aircraft. Especially for the ugly ones on FC3 aircraft.

You need a stick and throttle, they said...

I must say..for your keyboard flying...the approach on landing looks spot on. very nice. Perfect angles all the way to the end. But yeah.. try getting even a cheap joystick..your experience will be elevated to many times more than what you have now. -
Building a new desktop for DCS 2.0

will do. :) Nice rig yourself. :) How does DCS run for u? -
Honestly...if you can shoot the cars in the parking lot and it flips over like HAVOK physics style...that would be freaking amazing. haha.. but wishful thinking lol to see that sort of damage....even for game objects..but less static objects.

Building a new desktop for DCS 2.0
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Update. Just bought and paid for the components for my build. Changed the case...and OMG..I went for it.... CPU:: as above (intel 5930k) CPU Cooler:: Corsair H60i water cooling block Motherboard: ASUS X99-A RAM:: G-SKILL 16GB 4x4GB DDR4 2133 Mhz CASE:: NZXT S340 VID CARD:: GIGABYTE WF 980 GTX OMG!!!OMG!! LOL Waiting for a few things to be delivered in store at ncix and will be picking it up this week. :) I'd be pretty pissed if DCS 2.0 doesn't run on this thing like butter. :p -
Hi guys, I am getting my new desktop gaming PC, so I deactivated all the modules using the protect.exe in the bin for each module. However, there were two or three modules I bought on steam since the DCS/steam store separation. I was able to deactivate all the store based modules. But for the steam based modules..going into the protect.exe only gave me an option to activate...but not deactivate. I had already activated these long ago and been using them..but basically all steam bought modules couldn't be deactivated. I just then uninstalled the game from steam. Hoping that will deactivate everything from steam modules. Eitherway, this is only the second build where I am going to install, so I should still have activations, but I wanted to notify ED that deactivation of steam based modules doesn't work properly. The modules in question are BF 109, Mig 21, F 86 and ultimate argument campaign. cheers V

I think we really need the "effect" of jet engines/thrust/rotor downwash properly represented on grass, dust, water in 2.0. We currently have that sad looking 2D effect of smoke/water in TFCSE.

Any testers who are playing around with EDGE..maybe even Wags...in the recent F-15 video from Mudspike website, I noticed that the cockpit shake/buffeting while the F-15 is rolling down the runway/taxiing seems minimal. Are the cockpit shake effects still in process of being implemented? Ever since the Mig 21 release, I notice most aircraft in current DCS have the cockpit shake implemented in some form at high AOA, stall speeds..and sometimes touchdown. Although, only the Mig 21 Leatherneck have got it spot on in terms on how it feels. Will this be added to the other flyables in 2.0?
-
I would think the issue would be with object #?? Just like how ED ran into the issue with maximum number of objects in the current engine, perhaps with EDGE...until they actually try some computations out, we won't know if the WHOLE world canvas would be possible.
-
I honestly can't wait for 2.0 alpha. Unfortunately, it seems like it January is wishful thinking. :(

Its interesting...with ED current maps also having bridge damage.... will be interesting to see if there is damage modelled to that bridge. :p .....just had to ask. :p
-
Also..would be nice to see those trees size scale in comparison with aircraft. they always look a bit too small..although I hope that is because of distance.

Its cool to see the neat little enhancements to the DCS website / product page and info. Also interested to check out the new "reminder system" that tells you when you miss some switches. I SOOO NEED THAT. lol. I hope the other ED aircraft eventually get updated to that system...although the chances are slim. :p

+1

I agree... the flanker feels pretty natural to fly..it feels weighty as an aircraft is supposed to be. The engines behave exactly as expected with the sudden jolts of thrust as the throttle cone closes. It is easier to fall into a stall if you do not manage your speed correctly. But just because that happens doesn't mean it is wrong. Unless you are a pilot who has actually flown a flanker, trust ED that they have more information that you do in what they have implemented. Just because it was easier flying the flanker in 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, lomac and pre-AFM days, doesn't mean that was correct and this isn't. This is the first representation of the flanker and its engines in a simulation. I see someone was talking about pilots who said "it is a breeze to fly". But those are pilots...they have years of experience flying aircraft...dealing with the edge of envelope feedback. I would imagine the physical G-forces and actually being in a aircraft has that feedback which we will never get in a simulation. There is an element of subconscious compensation for the responsiveness of the aircraft. The experience becomes second nature to actual pilots. So just because it feels harder....doesn't mean it is wrong. Get an actual flanker pilot who flew "the early generation Su-27 Flanker B variant from 1989? 1990? and ask him if the jet behaves as expected....that is the answer we are looking for. Either way... ED.. or ED representatives....please do not dumb down this amazing aircraft just because people are finding it harder to fly/manage. Keep up your standards and just focus on providing the most realistic experience as possible. ;) :)

Why is FIFA 15 69.99 when it is the same game as FIFA 14? Its a new version with a new number. If they can charge full price, why not someone who spent many hours working, building a brand new aircraft from scratch with ASM and AFM (to come). People complain why there aren't enough flight sims....then they complain when they are priced similar to normal games. Practically, you can't win until they are free and even then, they will complain that there are bugs and it shouldn't have been released. :p

I seriously hope they change the way unit placement works. It is hard to estimate size of unit and direction when placing it around objects. Will be nice to see a realtime map view of the actual units and position them accordingly.
-
Lol. I agree.. I think they removed aircraft from banner to prevent presumptions. Yet...we are still finding something to speculate. Lol
-
Haha.

Stop being so naïve that DRM is hurting sales. The DRM works well enough...ED need the money from every product sold. It has never caused any problems and if u are the owner, ED will always restore activations when necessary. Also...the world is not so by the book where having no drm doesn't jeopardize sales...so stop complaining and just deal with it.

One of the best landings in the Mig 21. Very nice.
