Fantastic movie mate> I really enjoy those cinematic valley shots of the jet flying towards the camera. Can never get enough of those..because its the only shots where you get that sense that it is flying.

MiG-21Bis Dynamic Campaign: Guardians of the Caucasus
Witchking replied to MBot's topic in User Created Missions General
Fantastic job Mbot. Really its amazing that talented people like yourself have taken the existing tools and functionality provided by ED to new heights. Very very well done. Please design other campaigns..FC3 level aircraft...multiple aircraft options.. and definitely try out making it a payware campaign. Totally worth charging something for the time and effort you put in. :) -
Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
Witchking replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Check out the thread in the campaign section, Beach has posted AAR of the new campaign. He seems to enjoy it. It seems well balanced and fun so far. -
I've noticed it as well...since quite a few of the last dcs versions. It also haopens if u move the f2 camera to the back of ur own aircraft after landing\taxiing. I think has to do with heat haze? Although I see no haze graphically during the taxiing, there is a slowdown. This massive hit is not at all noticed in the air when heat haze is actually visible.

Fantastic to see you make an AAR Beach. I hope you change ur mind and make more. It always is a great incentive to jump into the game and experience missions myself...although I tend to flame out...or die a lot faster. lol Keep em coming. I agree with the points u posted. I think most of it has to do with the DCS engine/architecture. It would require a lot more to do what u are suggesting. Although..some of it can be alleviated with pre-campaign vdeos...between mission videos etc. But that is also very time consuming. Perhaps for a higher price point, they can address those issues.

That is why there are subtitles. People expect too much for the price of this thing. Its not $30. Besides, It's more realistic to have the communication in Russian. Perhaps for DCS 2.0, ED should consider a new format of displaying text on the screen. More like movie subtitles at the bottom? with an option to view the whole message in a log in the briefing/options menu upon pausing mission. Either way, I am glad we got this. I remember when FC first came out, because of the localization issues, ED only included a particular Su25T campaign with videos in the Russian version but not the English version. Its nice that they have released this to everyone.

I honestly think its fantastic that we are seeing a new wave of content for DCS. Its great that DCS has reached that level to warrant releasing such addons. Not to put down some of the FSX stuff, but some of that stuff is insanely expensive. $10 for a 20+ mission campaign is awesome. A nice way for ED/third parties to release aircraft at cheaper price (you seriously think $10 is sufficient to foot the bill for creating the FC3 level Su-27...model/FM/avionics?) This concept of offering stuff in pieces is the best way to give choice to the consumer in what to get. Our support in buying "quality" products that are released by ED will not go un-noticed and help ED in their roadmap for DCS. We can't always say that everything is worth $5... I have tried making a mission in DCS...the amount of time it takes to make anything ...especially when you can't see the unit positioning properly etc...is insane. $10 is a steal and I am sure if something like this was released for FSX...it would be atleast $30 or so.

nice landings. I don't know if there is an option to disable/enablw nose wheel steering. But...if it is available IRL, I think adding that would definitely help with that issue.

Did I just see a ground vehicle launch a flare?
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in Mission Editor
Here you go.. there is a trigger for that first vehicle to launch a flare when within 1500m of the vehicle? -
So who likes the new F-86 canopy and increased gun smoke?
Witchking replied to Winston60's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
I agree. The level ED are taking graphical realism is encouraging. It is hard to see targets due to cockpit reflections..but that is realistic. I am sure they may be a cockpit reflections enable/disable options during release of EDGE. I remember seeing that line in the cfg files somewhere. Disable that if the people who don't like it want it turned off..but don't make ED remove something realistic for the sake of gameplay/personal choice. -

Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in Mission Editor
players is fine...the cool thing is they either had a trigger or the AI truck was programmed to launch a flare as this was a su-27 training mission. :) -

I agree that ED should do it. While I do like the FSX idea of a huge community with lot of mods/options. I think it is a bit too much. Some addons are crazy crazy expensive. They may offer good things..but just hard to comprehend spending $50 on a weather engine for a game that I bought for $5 on steam. I guess it is a double edged blade as with many things in life. Pros and cons.
-
I think clouds are still WIP. I was checking out ASX for FSX with the detailed weather modelling and stuff. Man!! I don't think even DCS 2.0 will be that open for modders to plug in real life weather modelling. But the possibility would be awesome. I think EDs aim would be to build a community as big as the FSX one for DCS. It would be nice if the community can model more graphics/physics in the upcoming engine.

You go to your account on the DCS website. Search for the serial in the licensing tab... and then click unbind from there. Then give the serial to someone else and when they activate on their PC...it will bind it to their account.

BTW...I just noticed last night the nice looking "glass reflections" and "shadows on cockpit glass" in the latest version of DCS. Very very nice. I then also noticed the reflection of the yellow handles in the cockpit glass of the A-10C in the edge video posted by wags. Great job ED. Neat touches. :)

Did I just see a ground vehicle launch a flare?
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in Mission Editor
Haha... I meant I agree to the post after urs by msalama where he said its not impossible. ;) I see what you mean...I know it mean almost two separate engines in the backend.. an AI engine and a sim engine for all the physics calculations, but I think that is a better way to go than make the mission designer responsible for all the scripts to model behavior. I don't know how Falcon 4 dynamic campaign engine accomplishes it... is there a proper AI? Or is it just smart programming? AI definitely needs to get worked on and I am sure will be worked during 2.0. Some element of preservation on its own will help make the battles a lot more dynamic and lively, Let's see where dcs goes to in version 3.0. :) -

I know this is an old thread..but finally here is where I saw this. lol I agree...I think this is possible. The concept of self preservation for AI will make for some amazing battles. I am suggesting the AI of an RTS. Nothing more or less. Let the AI have logic on what they can, cannot do. Trucks in convoys may have flares... radios.. but nothing but small arms fire, in the face of a conflict, they can run away/hide when under fire. More armoured units can persist longer.... have the weapons... use appropriate weapons appropriately... ex: mounted cannon but not a AAA gun against ground troops. I understand it is hard,,, and this may take years before it can be achieved... but for sure,,, it will improve Gameplay...replability, etc. Not to mention.., its also connected to the development of a dynamic campaign. To build a full scale dynamic war, there needs to be logic for the AI to consider unit/platoon/convoy strength vs AI unit firepower/ability/resources. -
Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
Witchking replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
They might make an F-14A for sake of classified info and stuff.... who knows. But man... carrier based AFM flight will be awesome. If they can also update the ships physics in 2.0, we can have a carrier bobbing up and down... like silent hunter style ship physics... that would be awesome. -
Winter 2015 Flash Sale! 80% (01/04/2015)
Witchking replied to Aviators's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No advantage. I am just a steam whore. :p I prefer having all my games in one unified place. The concept falls apart with EA's origin based games which bugs me a bit. But well. :p *luxury first world problems* ;)
