  1. Ok...this might be far out...but just curious... can the sling loads be used to damage ground units? LOL...or other units in general? That would be hilarious and awesome. lol!
  2. Totally video card. Go for the Fury or 980 Ti. I got a 980 and decent CPU. DCS runs nice and smooth, but with DOF enabled, external views are a bit choppy. With 980Ti or Fury X, you should be able to smoke DCS.
  3. Looking forward to it man. Anything to improve the immersion in DCS is fantastic and with 1.5.... it will just be insane. Please release on steam. :)
  4. Afraid ur system isn't that good enough. DCS is processor intensive...(1.5 is a bit better). There are a lot more things going underneath the hood than other simple games. So you can't justify that your PC can run x, y or z better and smooth. These are the requirements for DCS..and the better your hardware, the better experience. It may run with ur config...but don't expect butter smooth gameplay.
  5. It cannot be any easier to install. Two options.... download through steam.. search DCS world. Free download...install play. If you want 1.5 beta...go to game options in steam..select beta...it will automatically update it to beta version. second option... go to digitalcombatsimulator.com. Follow the yellow download button. double click setup...follow instructions...play. The thing that is time consuming is setting up your appropriate peripheral and its inputs in the options menu. Two aircraft are free to check out and fly around in. Depending on your interests u can then buy the appropriate aircraft if u want to check it out.
  6. Haha. :) good to know. Thanks guys. :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Of course. I just didn't know whether or not my assumption was right. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I am a noob in terms of most aircraft technical info....but are flap positions represented as %?? I would imagine it was more represented typically as degrees??
  9. OMG! Is it sad or I really am sooo excited to see the toolbar update at the bottom.... Loooks so much nicer than the DCS 1.xx version stuff. Semi transparent... super nice ED...keep it up. :D The mirage is looking awesome as well. Can't wait for PFM and steam pre-orders. :D
  10. Truly Dima...you are a genius. DCS wouldn't be what it is today without you...and the rest of the artists (engineers, artists, designers etc etc) at ED. There are still little things you guys did with the detail in the BF109...and infact with every aircraft....even in the 1.5 EDGE engine that is just amazing. I can't believe how amazing it is with the awesome visibility in 1.5.
  11. Glad to help. I can show u more about that when I get home from work tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I agree....X-stounds...those look freaking incredible. I hope it is from a movie u r making. haha!
  13. visibility increases the visibility of buildings and other objects. So the distance at which u can see these objects is greater before they clip into view. heat blur.... if u notice carefully...almost all aircraft (I think all) emit heat blur off their engine exhaust. I don't know if it is like the old heat blur (only at speeds below a certain threshold)... but the high setting is a more realistic heat blur that doesn't have a distinct cut off line of where the blur is drawn behind the exhaust DOF...as u mentioned.... adds a camera "effect" of shallow depth of field in external views lens effects... adds dust, lens flare (again artistic film effects) to external views and in the cockpit while looking at the sun Clouds WIP anisotropic filtering ... basically prevents the abrupt transition of low quality mip maps at shallow view angles... so if u are looking at the runway while take off...u look in the distance at the "parallax" pattern of the runway lines...it doesn't appear blurry. model visibility ... increases distance at which the higher level of detail model is visible flat terrain shadows... a more "resource light" version of shadows for drawing shadows on terrain. You will see its effects more in nevada and newer maps. I don't recall if the mountains in the current map draw these flat shadows tree shadows have been removed as options...but they are directly included as part of the shadows option...visible at high and ultra IIRC TSAA is removed because now with the DX11 executable...u have direct support for higher quality MSAA and QXAA Cockpit shadows also merged into the single global shadows option... reason for those removal is now the shadows aren't as resource hungry as in DCS 1xx .. so pretty much not much of a reason to turn them off now you can also search for key bindings in controls. Super useful...rather than going through the pages..u can type the "target unlock" in search for example and the command shows up.....to change assignments You now have option for a floaty or shaky F2 camera view...I personally can't tell the difference yet...but u can see it more in some of the videos made by our resident experts Glowing amraam and x-sounds.
  14. Just bought it. Now just waiting for the nevada...haha. :D
  15. +1. The smoke at certain FOV / angles looks almost as a flat plane on the ground sometimes. Definitely needs a makeover. Even on water...would be nice to see new ripple effects and rooster tails when flying low.
  16. Perhaps maybe add pilot bodies as standard to all the older aircraft as well? :) But yes...I think now the pinnacle is the Mig 29, Mig 21 and the L-39 albatross pits... :)
  17. Similarly, it would be awesome if we can actually dynamically see the unit direction like in TACview in the F10 view.
  18. Just as an update to this...I found certain ground vehicles are also missing shadows. Notice the vehicle in the front and the player A-10 aircraft here. It is very random. I was trying the Su25T target practice mission. Now with improved visibility ... it is so much better than using labels. Fantastic...but the lack of shadows from the vehicles makes it extremely difficult to pick it out from the ground flat texture. I even made a rocket run against a black texture on the ground thinking it was a vehicle. lol
