Confession: Black Shark has made me a Rotor Head
Huckle replied to btaft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not sure how you got troll, but here's what I was trying to say- I had no interest in helicopters prior to playing BS I was looking forward to RoF, but they've screwed it with connection reqs. Having purchased BS, I'm getting a hell of a lot more out of it than I would have expected, and wondering if I can go back to planes. -
Confession: Black Shark has made me a Rotor Head
Huckle replied to btaft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Absolutely. I had no interest in helicopters whatsoever, only bought game because it was cheap, reminded me of Il-2 plane, and had time to kill until release of RoF (and didn't that work out well ). It goes to show, if people put enough heart into a sim you can go well beyond the core audience. -
Not sure how much you're joking, but did you know that there is supposed to be a Storm of War: Korea coming after BoB is released? I personally can't wait, especially if they include carriers, etc.
-
Hiyo. As far as I'm aware, there is no way to put deadzone or sensitivity curve with FFB stick- because curve doesn't move when you trim the stick. So I've been getting resigned to fact that aiming point is always going to bob up and down a little when using guns and rockets. However, I've found that if the relevant saturation axis is adjusted to 85-90% or so, it makes for a much smoother movement. Ie, pitch or y axis, I moved the y saturation to 85% but left x saturation at 100%. Now I've got a much smoother ride, can now actually hit targets with rocket. Anyone else confirm that this works, or have I lost it?

Cant wait for the future release of the AH64
Huckle replied to BlackFallout's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Cool. Here's hoping for the F-18 and carrier ops. This is going to burst a lot of bubbles :music_whistling: -
Having you enable the RCVR option already in game menu? Generates a new armed helicopter, but the mission will continue from where you crashed/ejected. As for startup, once you go through it a couple of times, it makes sense. But if you've just started playing, I'd be using autostart (Win + Home) at least until you can fly and fight. There's a great tutorial here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/STICKY_Tutorial_How_to_take_of.html#Post2626185

So, will this be doing double duty as Iraq terrain, or is there something separate planned?

No Axis Tune with MSFF2 and Vista64
Huckle replied to Endoplasmic Reticulum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Are you trying to adjust the axis curve for MSFFB2? If so, I'd leave it, at least until the patch comes out (might be a fix included). At least when I was trying it, the axis curve doesn't adjust when the cyclic is trimmed. So if you move cyclic forward, trim and leave it, you're no longer centred, and the stick is now higher on the axis curve. Makes for a very jerky ride, especially if you put deadzone in as well. This might be worth a look: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43234 -
New (Replacement) Instant Action Mission
Huckle replied to Ian Boys's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks! Was actually searching for a way to replace the default Instant Action, so this was a bonus. -
POLL: Would you rather see A-10 or AH-64a as next module?
Huckle replied to Sharkster64's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
A-10. I never played Lockon, by the time I had a pc that would run it, I found that TIR 6dof wasn't supported. I love BS, but that doesn't translate to wanting Apache next. Fingers crossed for F-18 eventually. -
Xbox 360 Controller and Black Shark - Question
Huckle replied to Ivonq's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
First step- back up the Black Shark folder inside the main game folder. You'll need this later when you break something. Next- take a deep breath and go to Options screen in game, then Controls. It shouldn't be too hard to change the keys over. It's worth taking a while over this, too hasty, or too many deletions, and you'll be copy/pasting that backup folder. -
¿How are you supporting ED and DCS:BS?
Huckle replied to ESA_MistrL's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If I'm looking at youtube video, and someone asks where they can 'download' BS, I give their comment a thumbsdown. -
I really don't understand the point of bombs
Huckle replied to asa1997's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm interested in this, because this just this morning I thought about Il-2 vs BS, and I realised I should bomb something/everything. You've been lucky so far, Mr Ship. Tomorrow afternoon, we'll see... -
I can't imagine it full stop. :( Are you waiting for a joystick to be delivered? Even when I was travelling, I took a rotten little stick with me.

While in theory it's a nice idea, as above, the practical issues are many. Also, imagine the tidal wave of whine that would be unleashed.

Sensitivity / Dead Zone Issue: Force Feedback Stick Users
Huckle replied to aphelion79's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I know this doesn't seem particularly helpful, but are you sure you need the deadzone, or a sensitivity curve? I have MSFFB2, and after a few days of frustration, I remapped everything to flat line, no deadzone, and have had no issues since. FFB is on 60%, and while I move the stick more gently than with a plane, I'd be doing that anyway to avoid blade collision. Presuming that your stick is working correctly, try putting FFB up to 100% with no curve or DZ for a few days, and flying like that. I found that the snappy response led me to make smoother inputs, and develop a better feel for Ka-50. Sorry, don't believe that there's an answer to your actual question, ATM. -
Yes, Chickenhawk was great. Good eye for the details, enough flying information to keep me happy, and the guy can actually write- this is pretty unusual for accounts of this kind so it really sticks out.

Cool, thanks for the manual page, hadn't come across that section yet. In regard to the ship sinking, that's most likely correct, although I imagine you could make a real mess of the cockpit. Still, at least it's not the hitpoint model of CFS3, where repeated mg passes would eventually sink the Bismarck.
-
Thanks for that! Will do some study tonight... pity about the ships, I carefully put several Vikhrs at the waterline too.

How many Black Shark flight hours have you accumulated?
Huckle replied to fox_111's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
How many deaths? :music_whistling: -
Hi, have searched on all of these, but nothing seems to come up. 1. Is there a guide to how to do the funnel manouevre anywhere? I know it's not a tactically wise thing to be doing, but would still like to know. 2. The Russian movie that features the Black Shark? Is it worth getting, or even available? This is the one I'm thinking of: BTW, any particular books worth looking over? Even on the ones that feature attack helicopters, Ka-50 is rarely mentioned. 3. How many Vikhrs should it take to sink a cargo ship? I fired 11 into one, and it just kept going...
-
Really? I love my TIR, but I'd still be flying if it was temporarily busted, although maybe in arcade setting. Now, joystick, that can't be dispensed with.

There is another manual came with the game in pdf, nowhere as large. Deals with game setup, etc. Try under the Docs folder.

Just a thumbsup to mindscape! Ordered on the Friday, in my mailbox on the Monday. Love having the book to cart around, pdf doesn't work well for me- I've learnt a lot more during a bathroom trip now than I did in weeks previous. :book: And more thanks to the developers of BS, I haven't been this hyped over a sim since I picked up Il-2 original.

I'd normally fly with AP on, and use FD for landing and gunning the occasional truck. But I experimented with flying manually, and I think it's worth trying for a few hours just to get an appreciation of how much smoother the AP makes everything.
